Did you ban John Hemming (the MP) for outing me ?

CarpeVinum · 21/12/2013 23:47

Cos he isn't on The Thread.

And I'd like to know why.

I am immaginging that the party whip we've been phoning, emailing and twittering has tied him up and run off with his keyboard.

Can I hang on to that fantasy, or did you ban him ?

It's not the end of the world to me that he posted my twitter account, knowing it was me and knowing it was my real name. But I will quickly drum up some minding if required to purge MN of his presence.

How many have complained to lib dem party

PacificDingbat · 29/12/2013 09:51

The iPad has been exorcised!! Grin

No, I know, I'm ok, you're ok - 'twas fun.

What I don't understand is even if one accepts (which I don't) that he posted as a private individual and not as an MP, he should be accountable for what he says in his professional life.

I am a dr - if I were to be done for drunk driving or for spouting racist drivel or all sorts of other stuff that the GMC regulates in my own time and private life it would (quite rightly) have consequences professionally.
And I do not have nation-wide power. Yet

CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 09:52

Santas

Please tell me I managed to explain myself, I was taking piss out my inability to do much more than tweet...I swear I was !

The glitch removal app is a little embarrassing. It appears that havingnhad to spend so much time on my son's keyboard poking around in BIOS and DOS etc....I reverted to "blind" touch typing...and then carried on that on the iPad, so basically was not looking at keyboard and assuming keys were moving thus Big Fat Mess on screen.

Amazingly enough, now I am actually doing what I used to do on the iPad, actually look at the letters while I try to hit them. It works find.

I have been updated Grin

There may or may not have been a Wine virus in recent time, but I have run a virus app and poured remains of large bottle of Christmas Chianti down sink

Carpe 2.0

SantasPelvicFloor · 29/12/2013 09:56

Yes you did Carpe Grin

I think I understand your glitch. I'm hoping it's not infectious.

SantasPelvicFloor · 29/12/2013 09:56

Road walker. That is a very good question . So...have yer?

PacificDingbat · 29/12/2013 09:57

What on earth did he say to Saint MaryZ btw? Would a small PM be out of the question?

CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 09:58

well wuite Pacific I am a teacher (it's Ok! Not teaching your children in proper school, only TEFL, whiteboard not keyboard) if I go to supermarket in crotch skimming mini skirt and nipple tassles as Signora Carpe, not Maestra Carpe.... makes no diff. I cannot seperate my prof. role from my private role in the community that knows what ai do and has expectations of me. Maybe not fair. But is the reality. And I took that on when I accepted contracts teaching in schools.

Plus, Hemming wibbled constantly between MP and Joe Blogs here. One minute at the pub, next sqwuarking about his parlimentary priviledge and "stuff I know, cos I am an MP doncha know" Plus those docs were in his possesion BECAUSE he is an MP as Madame rightly pointed out.

He has blurred the line between private person and MP when posting here, he cannot now claim he just wants to retropsectively rewrite thread history and claim Joe Bloggs status.

OP posts:
CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 10:02

Road

Of the original 11 or so of us.... most of us I think. Email, twitter and phone.

I even called Tim Farron's office. Which sounds very self sacrificing considering I am in Italy, but...keyboard issues made it the least troublsome choice. Plus they can't just refuse to answer me on the phone. They HAVE to talk back.

OP posts:
CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 10:07

Hemming told Maryz that she pught not to stick her head above the parapet, or people might start questioning her adoptions.

If I were him I'd be in mass 24/7 begging the holy Mother for forgiveness for that one.

Vile. Vile. Vile. thing to say as to an adoptive mother becuase you want her to stop asking you akward questions.

If that isn't considered a form of intimidation, I don't know what can be.

OP posts:
PacificDingbat · 29/12/2013 10:11

OMG, that's despicable, properly nasty ShockAngry!!
Of course it's intimidation.

If he wanted to post as Joe Bloggs then why not chose a NN that protects that privacy? Seems a stupid ill-considered thing to do.

SantasPelvicFloor · 29/12/2013 10:12

He said WHAT!!!!! To Maryz??

I'm stunned. Who does he think he is and what sort of special bullying parliamentary privileges does a LibDem MP get nowadays?

CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 10:16

He couldn't post as Joe Blogg rather than his real name, cos his entire argument seemed to be "I am right cos I know stuff you don't cos I am important and you are know-nothing little people"

Be a bit hard to swing that argument as poster ManInPubViaBrownies

Plus implied intimidation is a difficult stratagy to employ when you don't back it up with your name, thus invoking common knowledge that you have access to non public documents, people who can make lives diffiuclt and power-wielding.

OP posts:
CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 10:18

Santas

I think it may be his personal interpretation of the LibDem mission statement "working towards a fairer society"

Obviously a rather...... "creative" interpretation.

Fairer...for John ? So he doesn't have to back up his sweeping statements or put up with awquard questions from the little people ?

OP posts:
PacificDingbat · 29/12/2013 10:19

Yes, so using his own name adds power to the bullying, doesn't it?
What a man - he give such a naice impression of himself on his website, aw!

I had emailed him (fwiw - made me feel better to express my disgust) and the LibDems btw.

Spero · 29/12/2013 10:23

I complained to my MP, Nick Clegg and Parliamentary Commissioner for standards in summer 2012. No one cared.

Asked a legal blogger friend to publish my complaint, but fear of libel action meant no - even though it is all true and demonstrably so!!

This month I have complained to my MP Duncan Hames who asked me to send details to his office, did so last week, heard nothing, but I assume this is because of Christmas.

I can only assume he has some very powerful friends or some very powerful dirt on some people, as he appears to be untouchable - even MNHQ only ban him for a week after he for YEARS has orchestrated the most disgusting trolling of the adoption boards - ask Maryz and Devora.

Sadly, most of those threads are now deleted so we can't link. But I will trust Maryz recollections any day....

PacificDingbat · 29/12/2013 10:28

Oh, Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards - good idea!

Would my MP be interested? Or MSP??

CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 10:30

See, this is why I hand on heart believe the events on Mumsnet this Chritmas need to go to the Court of Public Opinion.

Becuase..... the authority bases you'd think were obviously places to deal with this sort of stuff, meither don't care or are hamstrung in some way.

The only "authority" left to stand in judgement of him and demand accountability and taking responsibility....is the greater public. So now the struggle is bascially trying to get what happened out there.

OP posts:
Spero · 29/12/2013 10:32

O he was also boasting about meeting with Women Against Rape and campaigning with them, so I emailed them too and suggested they have a look at the stuff his associates promulgate, such as Ian Joseph's paedophile charter 'Golden rules', and consider if their organisation will really benefit from association with such a person.

I don't want to go down the attacking him for his personal life route but I do find it very disturbing that he wants to be accepted as champion for vulnerable women when he actually seems proud of the disgusting way he treated his wife over very many years.

CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 10:32

If the Court of Public Opinion kicks up a bloody great stink...I think you might see rather more action on the part of the authorities with the power to extract meaningful consequences.

OP posts:
PacificDingbat · 29/12/2013 10:34

Ah, the Public - such an unpredictable beast: gets overexcited about some things and remains v lethargic and unmoved over others...
But may be unstoppable once mobilised - like an out of control oil tanker Grin.

Spero · 29/12/2013 10:34

Pacific - parliamentary standards didn't care, wrote back and said they did financial corruption only.

Which is weird because I had googled and found a Code of a conduct for MPs that said they must not act in a way to bring Parliament into disrepute.

So I do wonder what exactly an MP has to do to bring. Parliament into disrepute. Or whether it is now so lacking in repute the antics of JH just wash over them all.

CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 10:37

I agree with Spero

I do judge the people with power over me based on how they treat the people that love them and are close to them.

If they can't trust you or expect decent treatment from you...then how the hell can I when you don't even know me from Adam and have no "intimacy brake" to make you think twice about bopping me one via your choices and actions ?

Plus, if you make a ruddy great mess of your personal life, not entirely sure handing over power over the lives of a huge number of constituents is a really good idea. Track record should matter. It demonstrates habits, tendencies, values and the working status of your self control.

OP posts:
CarpeVinum · 29/12/2013 10:40

But may be unstoppable once mobilised - like an out of control oil tanker

^^That.

It's a long shot, but the only shot. The papers won't print this one as a "trickle down" story, it's either "bubble up" ... or nothing.
