Christmas Countdown - Mumsnet's top ten threads of the year

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without lengthy television programmes counting down the year's best and worst moments. Here at MNHQ we're compiling a countdown you'll actually enjoy - the ten best Mumsnet threads of the year.

The task is far too important for us to take on alone, so we're turning to you for help. Let us know which have been your favourite threads this year - for making you laugh, cry or showing the best side of Mumsnet. We'll also ask folks in the Towers what they think, and create a page of the some of the MN highlights of the year.

We're already looking forward to seeing what you'll come up with! Xmas Smile

RowanMumsnet · 13/12/2013 11:17

Thanks Oatcakes... any more?

ZombieFromTheRealmOfGory · 13/12/2013 14:39

For showing the best side of Mumsnet, any and all of the Woolly Hugs threads.

Zombie will keep thinking.

thekitchenfairy · 13/12/2013 14:48

The recent mum of 14yo DS who has found his gf is pregnant is MN at its best. Such wise words and advice, has got all of us with older children thinking and having That Chat a bit sooner than we planned!

My other nomination would be Waves live birth thread. Soooo exciting she was so brave and we all rejoiced in the safe arrival of Acrobat.

Where is Waves btw? Not seen here for a while I think, hope she's doing ok.

I can't remember the poster's name but it involved Spanish Bob and Fibrolls.

Also the thread about 'Auntie Tantrums' babysitting was very amusing.

There was one that made me sob in a happy way. It's in Classics so will go and dig it out.

OneHolyCow · 13/12/2013 14:53

Ooh, there was was with knocking going on next door.. it turned into a hilarious detective story about drugs and all. It brought out a lot of inner detectives. Wasn't there a dog as well?

FacebookWanker · 13/12/2013 14:54

The one with the cake system...was that this year? Had me in stitches. I think it's in Classics so will try and find it...

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 13/12/2013 14:54

Here it is It made me very emotional.

Also Marmalade's Lemon Drizzle Thread. That has to be in there!

mrscumberbatch · 13/12/2013 14:58

Lemon Drizzle has to be in there!

coffeeandcream · 13/12/2013 15:04

Lemon Drizzle definitely!!

And the thread where the MIL kept searching the OPs house whilst babysitting so the OP planted emigration forms to Australia. That was awesome!

Reastie · 13/12/2013 15:04

Got to be penis beaker Grin

coffeeandcream · 13/12/2013 15:05

And the Yoni Massage thread! Brian from Hull wasn't it?!

SledYuleCated · 13/12/2013 15:06

Definitely Tantrums' babysitting thread! Xmas Grin

ChristmasJumperWearer · 13/12/2013 20:40

LemonDrizzleBitch has to be up there.

PenisBeakerGate broke Mumsnet so deserves a special "most notorious thread" award all of it's own.

BellaVita · 13/12/2013 20:45

I also loved Tantrums babysitting thread Grin

SunshineSuperNova · 13/12/2013 20:53

Lemon Drizzle was my top thread of the year.

HaveAFestiveLittleChristmas · 13/12/2013 20:57

Lemon Drizzle

And the woman who received a christening invite including a gift list full of seriously expensive gifts for the mum (turned out to be a total mess - friend had PND, sister was arranging things for her and had employed an insane party planner) Wish I could remember the name!!!!!!!!!

HaveAFestiveLittleChristmas · 13/12/2013 21:06

Found it! (in classics)
"To be miffed at "Gift list for mother of the baby" enclosed in Baby naming ceremony invitation?"

usualsuspect · 13/12/2013 21:13

Most of my favourite threads got deleted.

GreggsOnLegs · 13/12/2013 21:13

The one where the mumsnetter was struggling looking after her Dh and her housework had gotten too much for her so a lovely bunch of mnetter's went round to help her clean and another mnetter sent for pizzas to be delivered to them.

Lemon Drizzle (I can't look at one now without smirking)

The cleaning one as already mentioned - MN kindness at its best, along with the luffly woolly hugs folk

Brian and his Yoni offer, and the ensuing put downs GrinGrinGrin

The one with the car parked ON the OP's driveway, so she blocked them in and went to dinner
