'Appy days - Android, iPhone and iPad apps released

Following on from the news of the release of our shiny new Android app, we are vair pleased to announce the release of the new and improved iPhone and iPad app.

All of our Talk apps are free to download and you can find lots more info on all things mobile here including an easy to scan and download QR code to get the mobile version on your phone.

Please can we just have the old app back for a while until this new one is sorted and it gets the proper mn smilies back?

Ok, I was doing the Christmas smileys wrong, but when I do them right, they don't work at all

So I excitedly download the iPhone app update...and the emoticons are still all crappy, I can't see any festive emoticons and witticisms in are still invisible! Argh!

Oh hang on...I saw that. I retract the latter, but objection to emoticons still stands.

But bolding doesn't work! I am on EDGE MNHQ! On the EDGE!

You'll need to re-sit that test, DarrenMumsnet. Emoticons remain decidedly forrin.

I'm aware of the emoticons not being any good quite as they seem and am speaking to the developers. I can confirm that should now be working. I've also tested the problem of threads crashing for various reasons and this should be fixed too.

Now for the emoticons

It's still crashing for me. Please fix it- I miss it! I managd to read one thread yesterday for the first time in ages but then the next thread I tried to read crashed as usual

Hi! Thank you for starting to sort it. Please can I put in a request for, as well as emoticons returning to how they should look, to also be able to see most active discussions?

I did the update on the app, and now bold doesn't work, and characters such as speech marks and apostrophes are coming out as code.
Please fix it.

But the search function is a nightmare. It won't take me to a specific post on a long thread, just the thread, which then takes forever to scroll through. I have to say I rather miss the individual pages.

Also I end up clicking through to JustGiving about every minute while I'm scrolling. The link is either too big or too high on the page. It's driving me mad.

As pne has to log in when using the app, does that mean there can be no lurkers?

Have just downloaded the updated iPhone version so fingers crossed that's the end to crashing.

I still don't like that there's only really about half the screen available for scrolling or the refresh button. It would be good if you could pull the screen to refresh like most other apps.

Also, if I go into the 'more' it will still be open at the last thread I looked at in my topics instead of the 'more' list of options - I'm sure this didn't happen on the old app.

And My Topics is weird - it either shows TIO or the last thread I was reading rather than a list of topics

Christmas- about it showing the last thread you were reading- I actually like that feature as if you click off the thread by mistake you can get back o where you were without having to scroll through the whole thread. If you just tap twice it takes you back to the list.

I can see how it would be useful in those circumstances Terrywoganstrousers, but I'm still not overly keen. Even though it's only a couple of taps it feels a bit cumbersome for an app.

MN - I regularly get told their are no conversations when I refresh TIO - I have to refresh twice before anything appears.

I do like that there is loads of space when writing messages though!
