can we "like" posts? sometimes people really make me laugh and I would like to "like" their posts, is there a like button, and if not can we get one please?

OP posts:
HecateHarshPants · 04/08/2012 20:56

did you do one of those blank posts or something?

Or if not, what the heck did you say? Grin

TeamGBIWI · 04/08/2012 20:59

Oh cat - what did you say?! Grin

catinboots · 04/08/2012 21:04

I think it was something along the lines of 'fuck off to fb or nms you cunt'

Not sure though Grin

TeamGBIWI · 04/08/2012 21:07

Well, I really can't see what the problem with that was. Unless you spelt it wrongly, or something?

HecateHarshPants · 04/08/2012 21:14

Well, that'll be it.

You missed out a comma.

That's unacceptable.

catinboots · 04/08/2012 21:15

commas are for cunts

catinboots · 04/08/2012 21:16

or cunt's

BonkeySaysTeamGBAreTheMollocks · 04/08/2012 21:26

WE NEED NO LIKE BUTTON, OR THANKS BUTTON, OR BE ABLE TO COMMENT UNDERNEATH A COMMENT How fecking confusing would that be ?? Confused

There, I have said my piece!

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 04/08/2012 21:35

I don't want a like button. If you insist on a like button than I am afraid I will insist that the Smile emoticon is obliterated and never seen again. It's horribly abused.

youarewinning · 04/08/2012 21:42

MNHQ - could there be a compromise that you can only 'like' something on a thread or a thread itself after you've posted on it?

Grin
catinboots · 04/08/2012 21:49

I've told you once and I'll tell you again:

Honeydragon

Don't care was made to care

Don't care was hung

Don't care was put in a pot and boiled till he was done.................

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 04/08/2012 22:02

Don't want. Shan't have. Ner.

NetworkGuy · 05/08/2012 08:25

It will be an absolute pleasure to remind MNHQ about them running a trial of this, after the comments which seem to suggest it can never happen.

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 05/08/2012 09:57

I could be swayed by thumbs......but NEVER a like.

HecateHarshPants · 05/08/2012 11:34

This thumbs thing. Would you see who gave them? so Hecate, Honey, cat and teamgb gave networkguy a big thumbs...

Oh, can you imagine? The paranoia? The pettyness? Downing a poster on every thread because you don't like them?

the threads about having been given thumbs down? Oh dear god the threads! Grin AIBU to think that everyone giving me thumbs down is BULLYING MEEEEEEEE...

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 05/08/2012 12:54

Hecate......you just sold it to me Grin

BRING ON THE THUMBS!

It really will make this place like a fight club, a Roman Arena of pain and flame.

HecateHarshPants · 05/08/2012 12:58

soooooooooo not my point, you naughty naughty thing! Grin

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 05/08/2012 13:32
Grin
NetworkGuy · 05/08/2012 14:40

Given the proposal was to make it optional, you can all rest assured you'll never see any thumbs up / thumbs down info if you prefer not to...

Making it an option negates so many reasons people have put forward for not wanting it at all, I find it puzzling there is still so much argument still going on.

catinboots · 05/08/2012 14:44

But why?? I'm still struggling with this.

Why, why, why do you want it so much?

HecateHarshPants · 05/08/2012 15:32

That's what I don't get.

It's a good idea which will enrich the MNing experience because...

I honestly can't think of any way in which it will improve things.

But, as networkguy rightly points out - those who don't want it, don't have to use it.

But others will still 'rate' your posts, right? so how will that make you feel?

LineRunnerSpartanNaked · 05/08/2012 15:37

I always associate 'thumbs' with the fuckwits who comment on the 'Add A fucking stupid and bigoted Comment' section of my local newspaper's website.

GetOrfMoiRing · 05/08/2012 15:38

I think it is to engage the lurkers, or so Justine said on the last thread.

Cue a load of people saying stuff like 'we don't give a fuck about lurkers' Grin

GetOrfMoiRing · 05/08/2012 15:40

It is a moot point to say you could hide it.

Nobody would hide it because the nosiness in seeing how many people have thumbed up/thumbed down your posts would take over, Grin

I don't think it is a good idea or necessary. It would remind me of the knuckledraggers who post inflammaroty comments on the Daily Mail and then see gleefully 'bring on the red flags'.

HecateHarshPants · 05/08/2012 15:45

Yes. How could you not want to see Grin

Unless opting out meant opting out and others did not have the option of liking or disliking your posts Grin

I just think it would create all sorts of bad feeling.
