@NetworkGuy

bump so MNHQ can come back to clarify the position on this one.

I'll be having an operation tomorrow so don't know when (/if :) ) I will be back, but hope MNHQ can have taken a look at this thread, and not just looked, but posted something, too !

Hello. Right, so we've looked back to see where we left this bunfight debate last time it came up and, you're right, NetworkGuy, Justine did post here that we'd give the 'like post' button idea a try in Chat.

Since then, it has, to be perfectly honest, completely slipped our minds.

Given the weight of feeling here, though, is this something most folks would still like us to try?

Hope your op, went OK, NetworkGuy.

Why, just why?
I don't see the point, we're not facebook.
I'm imagining threads in Chat now where half the posts are 'like' and no one bothers to converse any more.
As Maryz said just Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Why do people want this?

That's a no then? :o

LadyBeagleEyes · 11/07/2012 18:15

So why do people want this facility?
On a chat forum?
I'm listening but I still don't get it.

Didn't we have a pie chart for the results - or was that some other crap idea something else?

msrantsalot · 11/07/2012 23:51

Someone has said it again. I still would post if I had something to add, but if someone has said what you would have said what is the point in that? But you could show agreement with a "like" then perhaps that poster would appreciate it? I don't really think its that big a deal, and I really cannot understand why people think it is so awful to be honest.

"weight of feeling"

I've seen heavier eyelashes.

[grr]

ExitPursuedByABear · 11/07/2012 23:58

There's another thread.

Bangs head on desk.

@ Maryz, yep you could write I agree with X, but say its post 209 on a thread of 440 posts? maybe the solution is to be able to put your comment directly underneath the person you are agreeing with, instead of at the end? That would make more sense and would be a compromise Smile

NO

NO

NO NO NO NO NO

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 12/07/2012 00:07

No.
Just no.

Leads to that stupid thing on facebook where someone's status may be "Just had a really shit day - argh!" followed by that annoying little thumbs-up icon with "Numpty and 10 other people like this". What? They like that you have had a shit day?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 12/07/2012 00:07

Cripes.

It's all going to pot in a handcart.

msrantsalot · 12/07/2012 00:12

Ok I see your point, halfspam. Yet I think on mumsnet it would be different, as people seem to act more grown up on here than on Fb

FGS this is becoming positively sisyphean

GYAC - FB/Nethuns are that way >>>>>>>>>>

msrantsalot · 12/07/2012 00:18

I am on a forum for asthma, and they have a "thanks" button, where you can thank the poster for their contribution. I think it is really nice, what would people think about that instead?

OP posts:
LadyBeagleEyes · 12/07/2012 00:30

We have a thanks button.
It is this Thanks.
Much nicer, isn't it?
Nicer still is writing out the sentence 'Thanks, I appreciated that' or words to that effect. And continuing the conversation, you know, like getting involved with the thread and getting to know people.

msrantsalot · 12/07/2012 00:33

Yes ladybeagle, that is nice, i will use it Thanks
