Moderators?

Are there still moderators on this site? If there are, are they employed direct by Mumsnet or are they members that volunteer themselves for the role? How do you become a moderator on this site?

No, there are no mods. We self-moderate to an extent - there are 'report' buttons on every post and MNHQ have a team of quick-draw sleuths who investigative and delete/deal with the bunfights.

Mumsnet is self policing so Mumsnetters report posts/posters to us and we have a look.

There is a community team at MNHQ who post on the boards but we aren't what is normally considered 'moderators'

But some are more moderate than others.

I'd make a terrible Mod - I'd let almost anything stand so long as it was funny.

People who can name a current poster who used to be a mod should be given a "get out of troll hunt free" card. Troll hunters should immediately call off their dogs if a former mod is named.

Must have been in the first couple of years. I started lurking in 2002 and I don't remember them. Having said that a lot seems to just pass me by
