Are there still moderators on this site? If there are, are they employed direct by Mumsnet or are they members that volunteer themselves for the role? How do you become a moderator on this site?

I would happily mod the local boards. I would take great delight in deleting all the ads and messaging the perps things like "did you not realise your spam is extremely irritating to the good folk of MN?" and "you're very welcome to post your ad. That'll be £50 please!" and "you can sod off with you're 3 year long event that is not even an event - you cheapo chancer!"

I suspect this is why I would not be allowed...

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 20:20

Tee, I think they did!!Shock

OliviaLMumsnet · 09/04/2012 20:20

No way José.

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 20:26

Olivia.

Are you original Olivia, or are you a new Olivia?

I've just noticed an L in your name.

dearprudence · 09/04/2012 20:31

Katie is that really what it's like on the local boards?

Bohica · 09/04/2012 20:34

I am a mod.

Please do PM any gossip concerns and I will inform others look into it for you.

KatieMiddleton · 09/04/2012 20:40

Not on my local board! Grin We have an excellent Tsarina who looks after local threads. My beef is with the event listings that appear in the bottom right corner. I have to say Richmond's have been excellent for the last couple of months once all the ads and general crap was removed. They are now useful.

themarriageplot · 09/04/2012 20:54

I thought extra effort was going to go into the local boards. Our opinions were canvassed. It's all gone quiet since then. Sad

KatieMiddleton · 09/04/2012 20:59

I think they're busy working on it. Better something really good than a rush job. In the mean time there's always the report button on iffy listings Smile

ChaosTrulyReigns71 · 09/04/2012 21:01

OliviaL.

I think you need numbers in your name.

All the cool kidz are doing it. Hmm

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 21:15

Chaos- you advertising your age again?

Tee2072 · 09/04/2012 21:24

According to Olivia, she is still the same Olivia but had a Samuel L Jackson moment at some point.

I, personally, hope it wasn't during childbirth as that would just be disturbing for all concerned.

::Tee hopes she is remembering correctly that Olivia recently returned from maternity leave and not some other member of staff::

::recently in Tee's head being the last 6 months or so::

Hissboo · 09/04/2012 21:26

Seems to be some 'moderating' being used tonight. [buhmm]

ChaosTrulyReigns71 · 09/04/2012 21:27

SNF, doya think I'm an OAP?

Hmm
ChaosTrulyReigns71 · 09/04/2012 21:27

OOh Hissboo, do tell more...

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 21:27

The gamey slippers and zimmer tend to give it away Chaos!Grin

usualsuspect · 09/04/2012 21:28

Really hissboo ,is it kicking off somewhere I don't know about?

Hissboo · 09/04/2012 21:29

Chaos. Somebody is very ill in Singapore. A thread was started and then deleted because let's just say that he doesn't have many friends. Google is your friend, in particular breaking news.

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 21:30

the Mugabe thread was really in pretty poor taste hissboo- it's indicative of how self moderation works.

See something that is offensive- and wishing someone a long and painful death is offensive imho- and then report it.

Hissboo · 09/04/2012 21:33

Not sure I understand why certain posts weren't deleted instead of the entire thread, which is or was the usual policy. Threads do seem to be deleted rather than posts removed more during evenings and weekends. Which makes me think there is more actual moderating going on these days.

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 21:34

Because we have similar before and Oh My God, they become horrific, very quickly. Better to get rid of the whole thing and be done with it

OliviaLMumsnet · 09/04/2012 21:39

Yes to Samuel L Jackon
Mat leave quite a long time ago now Sad been back since Aug.
My ickle bay-bee is a bruising great toddler who ate a whole child's portion at a pub lunch today SEVENTEEN months old tomorrow (sniff)

Tee2072 · 09/04/2012 21:40

I said it might have been 6 months ago...I was only off by 2 months! Grin

I know the feeling. My ickle baby is nearly 3 and half my height. Of course, I'm only 5'2"!

RustyBear · 09/04/2012 21:47

Did you mean me CanCant? - I was never a mod - I've only been here 6 years...
