that's a lie, LeBOF.

JessieLeGrund · 08/11/2011 14:57

*thinks not things

Alouisee · 08/11/2011 15:01

Sorry, my previous post was something that DBF had posted on her fb page.

There are lies and there are lies. Changing a few details to protect your identity is one thing but reinventing your life when people are trying to help you is clearly another.

pictish · 08/11/2011 15:03

Methe I agree. I don't think the letter helps her cause at all. I think it neatly illustrates how fond of her own opinions DBF is, and how she feels entitled to express them in any way she chooses....which she is, but not on Mumsnet because of the site rules.
There is no remorse on her part....simply more blowing off steam, and now a request that someone let MNHQ know that TLES is a liar. Like it matters.

DBF has broken the conditions she was allowed to stay under, and there is nothing more to discuss. TLES is irrelevant.

Thingumy · 08/11/2011 15:05

I really don't think anybody should be c&p'ing stuff from individuals facebook pages.

QueenofJacksDreams · 08/11/2011 15:06

TLES - I previously messaged you in support not wanting you to be upset by what I thought was quite an unnessecery outburst. I feel I've been made to look a bit of an idiot now as I obviously didn't know the backstory with you and the dogs.

So please you said you'd answer questions regarding proving your integrity so what happened to Honey? Giving the truth here might just save a bit of your integrity.

Val/DBF Didn't deserve to be banned, being an animal lover is almost like a religion its something you end up feeling incredibly passionate about and you want to defend. In fact you need to defend them since animals don't have a voice of their own they need you to speak for them. Maybe some people felt Val was being a bit of a cow I did at times to be honest with you but she does amazing things for animals and she should be praised for that not banned from one of the places where she helps a lot.

LeBOF · 08/11/2011 15:07

You seem very invested in all this, for a newbie, pictish. It normally takes quite a while to become so passionate about a site and its posters.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/11/2011 15:08

Gosh, it has taken me ALL DAY to catch up since last night!!!

DreamsOfSteam · 08/11/2011 15:11

pictish isn't a newbie Confused

CalatalieSisters · 08/11/2011 15:13

Oh dear LeBof, it does seem very very MN Old School to pick someone up for the "offence" of being a newbie or apparent newbie with a strong opinion. Not very nice.

LeBOF · 08/11/2011 15:13

Sorry, I thought he/she had said they were.

LeBOF · 08/11/2011 15:15

My apologies if I've got that wrong. But I do think a thread on essentially internal site politics is an odd one to get so involved in if you are new. It appears that I am mistaken though.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 08/11/2011 15:15

Thingumy - "I really don't think anybody should be c&p'ing stuff from individuals facebook pages."

I agree and I have reported the post that has done so.

It also takes away from the argument that DBF has only replied once, via the open letter, if in fact she is writing things on Facebook that are then being shared here by other people who cut and paste or copy them.

pictish · 08/11/2011 15:17

Fair point.
I haven't been around long, it's true....but fair is fair....and that is what is interesting me in this issue.

You cannot have one rule for DBF and one rule for everyone else. She has been banned for her aggressive posting style before, and was very very fortunate to be singled out and given another chance....which she quickly blew.

If MNHQ relent again, then that is going to be very bad for the site as a whole. So the more popular posters get more chances than the not so popular ones do they?
I don't agree with that on principal at all. She broke the condition, and that has to be the end of it....or it's all fucked. MNHQ may as well let anyone say whatever the hell they please, no matter how aggressive it is....because if DBF gets to, then so should the rest of us.
Wouldn't that be fun?

I couldn't give a monkeys about DBF, other than finding her self importance and arrogance on the DH mildly irritating (as well as counter productive)....but I do care that all posters on here be treated the same way. DBF has already been singled out for preferential treatment, and imo it would be very wrong to award her more.

pictish · 08/11/2011 15:19

I'm not a newbie as such....but certainly not an oldie either. I don't 'know' very many posters at all, and have no alliances anywhere. I have been posting for a few months, on and off?

HowlingBitch · 08/11/2011 15:23

For someone who doesn't give a monkeys about her you sure do have alot of opinions of her.

LeBOF · 08/11/2011 15:23

Yes, and you can post what you like and where you like, obviously. But I guess I have been rankled by your very "end of" gavelly posts, which is hard to take at the best of times, especially when discussing somebody who has made a valuable contribution over a long time, which you won't have seen, in the main. So that is why my metaphorical hackles were up. Probably my issue though- I shouldn't have responded in the way I did.

GrimmaTheNome · 08/11/2011 15:24

I'm not sure I'd call DBF a 'popular' poster. Annoys the heck out of me sometimes - she certainly didn't care whether she was popular or not. But I think she was a truly valuable poster and it just seems a shame that the last straw was this particular thing where (as far as I can tell second hand) she wasn't particularly out of line (I think TLES said DBF shouldn't have been banned for it)

I think if she was allowed back you'd find more people not scared to post alternative views

Alouisee · 08/11/2011 15:25

One thing won't get better through all this discussion. That's TLES's poor dog who is about to go to its third unchecked home. What's the best we can hope for? That it doesn't get used as bait for fighting, that it doesn't end up on seven day notice in a pound.

If DBf had been allowed to stay around she would probably have been able to get the dog into a no kill rescue or a good, vetted foster home, as she has done many, many times before. Because she isn't here to help that dog it's prospects are not looking very good.

Yy, Alouise. I think it might even be its fourth home in ten months. It doesn't bode well.

pictish · 08/11/2011 15:27

I am scornful of anyone who appoints themselves as the world's authority on anything, I'm afraid.
Self appointed experts are one of my pet peeves....and on top of that, she refuses to be pleasant about it....which just makes it even more aggravating.

However, there are a good few posters on here that get up my nose, so it doesn't really matter that much. I can ignore her, and do.

I am far more concerned that rules be adhered to and we are all treated the same, than anything else.

HowlingBitch · 08/11/2011 15:30

Shes hardly a self appointed expert? She knows what she is talking about and takes it seriously.

SixStringWidow · 08/11/2011 15:30

I am also new, and am keeping an eye on this thread for a couple of reasons:

because I was on the DBF/TLES thread and also because I sent a PM to DBF before this kicked off to show my admiration for her passion

Had I not been around for the initial thread I don't suppose I would be so interested, as I have no experience of either of the posters before that thread.

I do have one question though - why does everyone keep saying TLES ?

Assuming LadyEvenstarsCoven had another name which is more known to everyone?

Alouisee · 08/11/2011 15:30

So it seems some posters prefer to "stick by the rules" rather than let good sense and compassion prevail.

That poor dog.
