Yes it's been a long and somewhat painful wait but it's here at last!

Get yourself into the iTunes store, search for Mumsnet and it will appear before your very eyes. It is not a mirage.

Android app following soon! (nb the mobile version of Mumsnet is at already available at m.mumsnet.com)

Hope you like it...

(Any complaints to [email protected] Grin)

  • ability to hide threads please
  • threads refresh when you drag the screen down please

I like purple though Smile

Thistledew · 09/06/2011 07:41

Great app - but two niggles-

I liked to be able to open the whole thread in one go, rather than a page at a time. It means I can open a really long thread to read even if I will be losing 3G network

I can't see how to bookmark. Can we still do this? Really frustrating with a fast moving thread.

Otherwise, great! Grin

RubberDuck · 09/06/2011 07:57

For those wanting a quick way to get to the bottom of a long thread - use flip messages when you're in the thread, it will reload so the newest message is first.

bizkit: if you have a snoopy partner, might be an idea to keycode your phone anyway as otherwise he'll have access to email etc too? The app not logging out every time is a benefit for those of us who have long complicated passwords and hate retyping in everytime you just want to pop in an app :)

fannybaws · 09/06/2011 08:13

Ok this is an emergency, cant get it to load and moving house tomorrow so no wifi......weeps quietly.
Am on an iphone 3 and ideas?

fannybaws · 09/06/2011 08:14

any ideas

NormanTheForeman · 09/06/2011 08:15

Paschaelina, I would be disappointed - but I don't have an iPhone anyway, so will carry on using my laptop (with Brew) Wink.

AgentProvocateur · 09/06/2011 08:34

Fannybaws (my favourite playground insult BTW) just try again. I had to try three times before I got it.

If it still doesn't load, do you know you can use the mobile version on your phone too?

FlorenceMattell · 09/06/2011 08:54

Hi waiting for this.... but won't open on my iphone (old sort), downloaded from apple store, but says verifying and closes. Maybe only compatible with iphone 4 ????

mamalino · 09/06/2011 09:00

Mine won't load with iPhone 3g either

OTheHugeManatee · 09/06/2011 10:26

Has MNHQ responded to any of the people who've said their app gets as far as the load screen and then crashes? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it doesn't seem to make any difference, I can't get in.

DarrenMumsnet · 09/06/2011 11:07

Hi all
The app crashing at load screen seems to be have happened a few times. Tech have now been informed so watch this space for further news.

slightlycrumpled · 09/06/2011 11:40

I have iPhone3 and it downloaded fine. Am most Grin about the app - so far!

FlorenceMattell · 09/06/2011 11:51

So excited maybe I can now have mumsnet 24/7wow!

FlorenceMattell · 09/06/2011 11:52

Still crashing :(

FlorenceMattell · 09/06/2011 11:53

but i'm patient so will wait Biscuit

zipzap · 09/06/2011 12:07

Hi Mumsnet Towers - don't know if you have spotted the other very recent thread in AIBU about discovering mumsnet mobile but lots of us hadn't discovered it until spotting the thread.

There are assorted ideas on it about how it could have been easier to spot MN mobile that would maybe useful for the iphone app too...

Al0uiseG · 09/06/2011 12:28

I'm on iPhone 3G and it's working perfectly but refusing to open on ipad1, any ideas about that?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 09/06/2011 12:29

Well I managed to get it to upload after updating the software on my iPod touch. Thsnks for the tip Lawrie.

Smile

A couple of things:

firstly, do we really need the date on each thread in Active Convo's, as, well, I think we know that in most circumstances that they're active as they've just been posted on. Confused

I'm not keen on the fact that when I select flip thread, so I can read the end of a thread, it also changes my Mumsnet settings on my laptop. I like to read down the page on a PC, but obviously on a long thread it's more efficient to get the last page first on the APP.

So, DarrenTech, I'm waiting.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 09/06/2011 12:31

Oops, alopogies, you're not Tech!

Blush

I was curiius as to who what you'd done to achieve blueness.

freshprincess · 09/06/2011 13:20

Works fine on my 3GS - I have updated to IOS 4 so maybe that's the issue?

To log out - go to settings and log out. Then click on the Join button. As you can't tab back from it, it seems you're logged out for good.

Have got app. Am happy. Grin

Tech · 09/06/2011 14:39

Hi there, Those you have that have crashes, I wonder if you could do me a favour. Could you go to whatismyipaddress.com/ to find out your IP address. It displays in a section like the bit pasted below. Could you paste the "IP Information" into an email and send it to [email protected]. Then we can look in our logs to see if your app is getting as far as trying to reach us and download info. That might help us inform the developers of what to look for.

Thanks,
Tech

Sample output from whatsmyipaddress:

IP Information: 174.48.x.x
ISP: Comcast Cable
Organization: Comcast Cable
Connection: Broadband
Proxy: None Detected

housemum · 09/06/2011 14:50

Loaded fine on my iPhone 3GS with latest software updates.

Like others, would love a "last 15 minutes" as that's not the same as active convos. Also, unanswered messages as I am a nice person and browse this sometimes to see if I can answer and make people feel loved! (I am a natural-born thread killer who has never started a thread that's gone beyond more than about a dozen posts, and frequently am the last poster on a thread).
