Yes it's been a long and somewhat painful wait but it's here at last!

Get yourself into the iTunes store, search for Mumsnet and it will appear before your very eyes. It is not a mirage.

Android app following soon! (nb the mobile version of Mumsnet is at already available at m.mumsnet.com)

Hope you like it...

ah I see I can flip it, that helps.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/06/2011 22:03

mowlem - see this post:
WorrisomeHeart Fri 10-Jun-11 06:39:08

can'tsleep the my topics function is there - when on a topic, click the + sign to add it, then go to 'more' and you'll see the my topics option, where the topic you've added should show.

Mowlem · 10/06/2011 23:01

thank you

2littlegreenmonkeys · 11/06/2011 09:40

I like it, would prefer there to be no ad's on it and would deffo be willing to pay for one with no adds.

DebiTheScot · 11/06/2011 10:10

I like it so far. Long threads load much more quickly than on normal version on safari. Well done on a good v1.
A couple of niggles are: having to flip the thread to get to the end as then there's a lot of scrolling up and down to read posts that don't all fit on 1 screen.

I don't think links within threads work. I tried to click on a link into another mn thread but nothing happened. Also when/if that can be fixed it'd be good that if it was a mn link if it opened the new thread within the app rather than a safari tab.

On threads I'm on it doesn't show if posts have been added since I last looked.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 11/06/2011 10:22

I like. Grin

Definitely need to be able to hide threads and bookmark though, v.annoying having to scroll through big long threads.

I also would be willing to pay for one without adverts - maybe more than 59p too!!

sfxmum · 11/06/2011 11:51

Using now very nice thank you Wink

wannaBe · 11/06/2011 12:17

I still can't log in but this is seemingly unimportant. (hmm)

wannaBe · 11/06/2011 12:56

right, having got dh to look at this app I can confirm that your app is not accessible for people using voiceover.

Once logged in it is possible to see threads etc but I am unable to log in in the first place because, for whatever reason, the log in button cannot be clicked if voiceover is enabled on the phone.

come on mn that's not exactly in the spirit of equality now is it.

GeraldineMumsnet · 11/06/2011 13:09

wannaBe, sorry, sorry, for not seeing this sooner. And thank you for flagging this particular shortcoming. Am off to find somebody who might be able to shed a bit more informed light on this problem and whether it can be fixed. Bear with us!

ohnelly · 11/06/2011 15:17

Mine won't work. Have downloaded it onto iPad but it won't open Sad

CaveMum · 11/06/2011 17:15

Another vote here for being able to bookmark threads, colour-code the OP and skip to a certain point without having to scroll through all the posts.

B+ for effort but C for achievement Wink

Tech · 11/06/2011 17:23

Hi, as far as we can tell, no-one has successfully used the app on an ipad. It seems like the iPod touch might be a problem too. If you have either of those and are successfully using the app on them, it would be interesting for us to hear about.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. We are compiling a list to pass to the developers. We aren't sure yet when things will get fixed, but please bear with us. Thanks.

GastonTheLadybird · 11/06/2011 17:57

Mine still won't work on my iPhone despite deleting, redownloading, and syncing.

daffsntulips · 11/06/2011 18:34

No luck here with iPad or iPod touch; I did email Tech my ISP address so I will now wait patiently.

ihatecbeebies · 11/06/2011 19:00

I downloaded the app last night to my iPhone and it is great, no problems here Smile

KatieMiddleton · 12/06/2011 00:20

Any chance the purple can go and MN blue installed instead?

I've found the new app has greatly reduced my MNing. I think because I can't see new posts have been added and active threads are quite... blobby (is it a 3D effect on the bars??) with no details.

I will be back at some point but for now I'm
going back to Safari. Sorry

madhattershouse · 12/06/2011 00:23

I downloaded the app yesterday...worked fine and logged on fine. The lack of gaps between the different threads makes it all look so similar you easily lose where you have got to..looks a little "cluttered". Perfer the look of m.mobile tbh

fraktious · 12/06/2011 08:31

Am I the only one who can't open links? Or is there a trick I'm missing?

livetolaugh · 12/06/2011 09:16

I like it. Love the colour but it's my favourite colour so I am biased. Needs bookmarks and needs a 59p app with no ads

Canella · 12/06/2011 10:33

Works fine on my ipod touch.

Have had a few days now to play about with it. Want to tell my plus and minus points.

Plus
• like remaining logged in and the ease of being able to see the threads i'm on.
• like how quickly the next pages load

Minus
• hate how on a big thread there are no page numbers so have to kind of guess where i finished reading the thread. Needs more than just previous and more.

• the text on the active convos could be smaller as i dont like not being able to see the whole thread title.

• also dont like not being able to nip back to look at the thread while in the middle of writing a message. I'm on a long running thread and sometimes forget who said what , and want to refer back to the messages.

But overall i like it! Looking forward to the update!

netbook · 12/06/2011 11:46

Can I add my comments too please?

like
It's very clear and easy to use
size of text
being able to see how many messages in a thread in active convos
colours (quite like the purple)
buttons at the bottom
ease of smilies
Speed, it's much quick than the mobile web page
My Topics

dislike
there's too much blank space on the screen eg, after the posters name when if a thread,
The banners are too big at the top and bottom, much bigger than email and when browsing. It means that when a thread is open almost half of the screen is lost to banners. It only needs to be tightened up by a couple of pixels, but would make a big difference to the reading area
It takes too many clicks to get to a particular topic, when you're in a thread could the top banner be a link too? I realise you can use the Topics option at the bottom but it's not always obvious which section they've been put in. To get to Style and Beauty it's 2 clicks, a scroll and another click.
Can it mirror some of my website settings, eg highlighting the OP and viewing everything on one page?
There's no refresh option when in a topic or a thread
Have just found add to my topics, really like this! but can it be on the bottom rather than Topics [picky]

Only found it this morning, (that'll teach me to ignore the sticky threads) but it's already on my front page! Thanks Smile

cornishpasty · 12/06/2011 14:41

Apart from few things I don't like which I have already mentioned, it's working fine on my iPod touch 4th gen.

comixminx · 12/06/2011 17:50

Haven't used it much yet though am pleased with the potential. The thing I use most is "I'm On" and I find that harder on the app than on the mobile or ordinary site. On the app you don't see what's been newly added to your "I'm On" threads so don't know if it's worth clicking through to see new posts. Also if you do click through you get the whole long thread and you go to the beginning of the thread by default; as with others I then flipped the thread only to find that this affected my browsing through the ordinary website version too, which I didn't expect or want.

moominthecorner · 12/06/2011 20:28

Love it. So fast! It's on my front page already. Can see me being on the boards even more... Perhaps the ad banner should be for a divorce lawyer rather than vodafone....Wink
