Isn't it a beautiful sunny day today? Wouldn't you lot be better off outside, singing a happy song, than getting involved in this bizarre thread?!!

dropinthe · 30/08/2005 17:21

The thread itself isn't bizarre....

toomanyposts · 30/08/2005 17:21

already been out today - took the kids to a water park near us - well just over 2 miles away actually and DH had the car so we walked there and back

dropinthe · 30/08/2005 17:21

Lottielou · 30/08/2005 17:22

OK Expat--as long as the Americans can agree that they are gross! (tickers I mean....). I did go to a link on Momsonline (sp?) when Rickman was posting her ticker on how long until her next bowel movement and when Gwen was doing something or other, so I am familiar with how they look. I do like the simple format of Mumsnet to be honest.

myturn · 30/08/2005 17:40

Here GDG

dropinthe · 30/08/2005 17:42

I once had a keyring which counted down to my wedding day-is that the same??

ClodaghR · 30/08/2005 17:42

the format of the mumsonline.net board is different to here so they can allow tickers. This board wouldnt' allow them in its present format.

Too many tickers and twinkly pictures are nto good for the eyes.

I had a countdown on my pc when I was made redundant - used to say something like "xx days til I'm outta here"

I'm sure all my colleagues loved it

Can't believe that this has caused such an argument. Would it not have been better and more productive for everyone, if people against the tickers just said why, as in cons, rather than things like 'their the spawn of satan'. If I were on the ttc thread these messages would probably make me even more determined to get tickers. I thought this was 'mumsnet' for mums, ie 'adults' not 'children' or shall we name it 'childrensnet' to suit some of your reactions?

A discussion of the pros and cons would have been more helpful for all wouldn't it?

As for tickers themselves - can't say I'm one way or the other at the mo, not enough information to decide!
