A great big list of products that are cheaper but just as fab versions of their expensive counterparts.

Hello,
I just discovered that Baylis and Harding Handwash (Mandarin and Grapefruit) smells EXACTLY like Molton and Brown and is a fraction of the price (£1.93 for 500ml in Sainsbury's compared to £14 for 300ml Molton Brown).

Having already shared in Chat - I just thought starting a thread in Products where we could list all the things we discovered that are just as fab (and cheaper) than the posh versions and save us money.

(If this thread takes off Thandeka thinks definitive proof that Mumsnet is firmly middle class and not upper middle class/upperclass as per other debate!) If it doesn't- then it's just me the happy cheapskate.

Superdrugs Naturals (Naturals? Botanics? Oragnics? Something like that) shampoo/conditioner is v nice and about a pound a bottle. I like the coconut one better but they have tea tree and blonde/brunette sets too.

Oooh, ooh, I've got one someone hasn't mentioned - Lidl's versions of Magnums and Soleros - they come in mini versions too, approx twice as many for half the price (except when they have Magnums on offer at £1 a box like this week).

Sainsbos do basics stewing lamb, sometimes it's lamb shanks, v good value and just the same as the normal ones, great for the slow cooker.

I used to get Sainsbos own versions of Jack Daniels and Bombay Sapphire as well, don't know if they still do them, but no difference IMHO.

If you buy pots of herbs from the supermarket, plant them up, in bigger pots, containers or a window box - they will keep growing and save a fortune in fresh herbs.

Lidl's seeds have done well in our garden this year, mostly only 29p a packet, and all have germinated and are growing.

Lidl's Cien suncream - smells just like the stuff we had when we were kids, and whisks me back to the 70s!

Tesco newborn nappies are far better then Huggies and Pampers.

(same ones are sold in Asda but are more money)
