NationalFlight - the XLR is heavy and quite wide and long. But I've used it since birth and it was much lighter when DS was lighter IYKWIM. Now he's 20lb plus it just seemed like a lot to be pushing up a hill.
Functionality is brilliant though. I've loved the reclining positions and especially the extendable hood the zips open and is an instant wind shield and sun shade. Folded down pretty easy enough but the length meant it was a bit of a faff getting it in the boot of our (now disappeared) C-Max. But it's size and weight meant that it was pretty good on rough terrain without being one of those massive bulky sports buggies.

One thing I noticed just before we had it nicked, was that we kept getting massive electric shocks when wheeling through our local shopping centre. Does this happen with all buggies or is it just a special feature of the XLR?

Thanks for the tip 5inthebed I'll look them up!

I have had a Quest and have a Triumph at the moment and love them both. But for a younger toddler I think the Quest is better.

Have a look at the Jane Energy they are fab strollers sturdy and lightweight with a nice big seat and cheaper than a Mac.

I didn't get on with my Silver Cross Pop, I found it heavy to push and the shoulder straps were in a strange position, they always ended up over DD's elbows so we just didn't use them.I found the seat shallow too.

lillypie · 02/06/2009 12:47

Oooh meant to say nice big wheels on the Energy so not at all rattly

NationalFlight · 02/06/2009 13:04

Ah thankyou Digitalgirl - that's a brill all round review, it helps a lot. I can't imagine it IRL somehow, am off to Mothercare today to see if they have it for a sneaky push

nicolamumof3 · 02/06/2009 14:07

afternoon all i love my maclarens!!

my two favourites are quests and xts. don't get a triumph.

basl · 02/06/2009 14:42

Hi, can anyone tell me about the quest? I intended on taking my bjcm to tenerife but i am scared it gets damaged. I stupidly used a code and got the nip in kiwi and oh it is bright and well i made an even worse mistake. I have had a rev brown/green liner and cup holder made thinking it would look nice and keep it clean on holiday but i did not realise how bright it was. The stroller is quite good but feels a bit heavy with good recline so i now think i saw a quest in brown and green then i could use the liner. Are the quest seats big enough for a big baby? Can anyone tell me a bit about what they think of the quest. I also say the obaby atlas in brown but don't know if that one is anygood. Thanks

digitalgirl · 02/06/2009 14:49

thanks lilypie the Energy looks like the equivalent of the XT, only lighter. I fear that I don't actually have time to properly shop around as we only have a borrowed Volo to cart DS around in and it's not appropriate for snoozing in (which he seems to do very easily nowadays, think it's the heat). So if they don't have the Energy at my local Mothercare today then it looks like it's the XT for us. Not as light as the Quest, but lighter than the XLR with quite a few of the features.

lillypie · 02/06/2009 14:59

I loved my Quest and my very big 2yr old slept comfortably in it.It's light and sturdy, the only reason I got rid was because I loved the raspberry Triumph and no point in having both.

Nicola had an O'Baby and was very impressed for the price I believe

basl · 02/06/2009 15:22

nicol Did you have an obaby strollr? Would it be ok for holiday to tenerife. Thanks *lillypie"

toddlerama · 02/06/2009 15:30

Hi ladies, I was wondering if anyone can help me? I've listed my 2 Zapps on ebay for £75 with £15 postage. It's the second time I've listed them as I had the auto decline set too high I think. What sort of price would you accept for one? They are black and in good used condition. Not excellent, but not knackered by any stretch. Very clean but logos worn off. I really need to sell them to raise money for a phil and teds.

toddlerama I would try knocking £10.00 off them and maybe going for a cheaper courier or offering to let people arrange their own.

I bought a strawberry one recently in good condition with wedge basket underseat basket carseat adapters and travel bag for under £65.00. I arranged my own courier for less than £10.00

nicolamumof3 · 02/06/2009 15:51

basl, i absolutely loved my quest, also the new 2009 have a bigger higher hood so even more suitable for toddlers imo, they have exc. recline and footrest for naps but still v.light and sturdy too. i would recommend i love quests. but if its just for hols look at the obaby vintage thats what i had in noir v.similar features to quest for half the price.

lillypie · 02/06/2009 15:52

oh zap came with raincover too

nicolamumof3 · 02/06/2009 15:53

as for zapps i think alot of people now realise that babyvalue zapps are bnew so you can get bnew zapps for what you are charging toddlerama, reduce your postage to £8 and i'd charge more like £60 for them. advertise them £60 del on here bet they would go if in good condition?

i sold a used once zapp in breen new 2009 for £75 plus post so what you are asking really last week on here.

Ladies is it best to arrange the courier yourself or let the buyer arrange their own?

I am worried about not having proof of delivery for a couple of buggies I'm selling.

Thanks x

Oh btw I went and tried the XLR and XT at Mothercare.

You're right Nicola it is HUGE, much wider...not as neat, is it?

I found the height Ok (just) as I'm 5ft7 but still the angle you have to have your hands might get a bit wearing.

They only had the brown/blue one so will see what the champers one is like if/when it turns up, and go from there. Edging towards a second hand techno now as I hate the round buckle. I liked the normal one.

nicolamumof3 · 02/06/2009 16:07

if you get one with round buckle i will swap with you national? im getting a fourseasons but i want a new round buckle harness.

if buyer arranges own courier any losses/damages would be down to them to claim. i prefer to arrange mine then i know who it is can book them to come when convenient for me.

toddlerama · 02/06/2009 16:10

Thanks for that. I'll advertise them on here and reduce them on eBay.

NationalFlight · 02/06/2009 16:19

Thanks Nicola - that'd be cool.

The thing with them arranging it though - surely they can claim from paypal if you don't have proof of delivery? hmm. Maybe you could get the tracking number from them but if they're dodgy they might not tell you the right one iyswim?

I just found this on ebay, I'm not convinced it's only 2 months old though for that price might be a bargain - what do you think?

NationalFlight · 02/06/2009 16:30

It's not, is it? I mean that design is about two years old, not two months

Strange people. Have emailed them asking if there was a typo in the listing!! Gahhh.

BexieID · 02/06/2009 16:32

Shame I didn't see that XT earlier, lol. Would get it to have a mums!

BexieID · 02/06/2009 16:41

5in - I don't know what to sleep the baby in, lol. May just use moses basket and then straight to cotbed, like we did with Tom.

We need to get Tom a new bed. Do we get a car one or something more practical like a cabin bed?

NationalFlight · 02/06/2009 16:42

Well I just realised they've sold the same blooming one three times now...yes three times!

Have emailed againa sking what the problem is and whether they want to cancel the transaction...oh dear.

It's not a recent model at all is it - and they've sold several buggies lately of varying ages. Each listing has the bit about 'Maclaren written on the straps' wtf is that about? Is it a fake maclaren? ha ha.
