I soooo want a BJCM too but want to keep my Lunamix too DD3 has got to have a bumper bar, she hates the XT as she cannot hang off the bar.

Divatheshopaholic · 17/05/2009 15:27

i keeping up from nowhere and doing BOO hmm]

carrielou2007 · 17/05/2009 17:07

Afternonn!!

I need to do my packing but will have to wait until dd in bed as she is not very good at 'helping' me!!

Had another charity run this morning and got SOAKED!!! Then quick shower then charity walk with beavers (or could have been scouts can never tell which one). Second soaking. Then quick trip to Tesco express, washing machine on one last time.

Starving, must do tea not managed to have lunch yet!!!

FlyMeToDunoon · 17/05/2009 17:53

Gosh everyone is very busy.
I have had a nap! Now waiting for my dinner as cooked by DP.

Carrielou what do adenoids do and how does having them out help?

nicolamumof3 · 17/05/2009 19:29

dunoon, tate has just been referred to ENT for his recurrent ear infections may have grommits, also said would check the size of his adenoids.

that listing for breen is with pushchair now as well.

FlyMeToDunoon · 17/05/2009 20:05

Oh Nicola what a coincidence. I was asking about adenoids because DD2 had her latest hearing test with the clinic and had a bad result in both ears. The fluid in her ears takes a long time to drain after a cold and she gets very deaf.
So the doctor there said that now something needs to be done and has referred her to the ENT at Kent and Sussex. She mentioned gromits and adenoids but I really don't know much about adenoids.

nicolamumof3 · 17/05/2009 20:20

no me neither, we've just been referred last week to ENT at K&S. wait and see, may take up to 3m for an initial apt. apparently. Also ds3 has to go for hearing test as he has recurrent ear infections too which may be affecting his speeech his 22m now and has only one or two recognisable words i wouldn't worry but he's getting frustrated we can't understand him.

FlyMeToDunoon · 17/05/2009 20:29

Well I asked if DD would be seen before she starts school-Sep, and she said 'Oh yes!' so I hope it's true.
DD2's speech is fine but some of her sounds aren't clear and atm she can hardly hear and also speaks very quietly. I have had moments of wondering if we should all start learning makaton sign language.
See you in the waiting room, bring the Breen.lol

nicolamumof3 · 17/05/2009 20:30

haha! yes we can spot each other haha!! you should come over anyway and check the breen out. must make sure that terry doesn't take it up north with him as he's away 10days on Tuesday.

FlyMeToDunoon · 17/05/2009 20:46

Having just googled gromits I discover it's grommets. Gromits gets you a lot of Wallace and Gromit stuff
Adenoids are apparently a lymph thing [I've forgotten already! My brain cells are soooo crap] and can swell so as to block the airway at the back of the nose causing mouth breathing.
This is interesting as DD2 snores.

carrielou2007 · 17/05/2009 21:23

FMTD adenoids are a bit like tonsils not a huge amount of use! They swell with recurrent infections and impede the nose and loud snorer is often a very good indicator!

In children the eust tube is on more of a horizontal rather than sloping angle and this changes as the child develops into adulthood. Any mucus will build up as it can not easily drain away. The pressure builds up than can not be blocked with swallowing/blowing the nose and you get pain/middle ear infection. If the middle ear repeadly gets infected (chronic) grommets are great to releave the pressure (they do not let the fluid out but ventilate the ear).

BexieID · 17/05/2009 23:04

Tom really did snore before he had his adenoids out. Like an old man, lol.

claret1980 · 18/05/2009 06:37

DS1 has been referred last week to the ENT clinic at our hospital as well. His tonsills have been inflamed for weeks and nothing is helping. The doctor finally said that he should be referred and will probably have them out. He snores so loud, it is unreal. He has been dribbling sinc he started teething at 5 months and he is 3 in Sept. He has a really small gap to get his food down his throat, I'm suprised he eats anything.

My friend was prescribed a tablet for her ds to stop the mucus from buliding up.

nicolamumof3 · 18/05/2009 07:18

oh claret your poor ds, they just get on with it don't they tho kids. bless him. dp had his tonsils out last year. was such a relief as he'd sufferred with repeated chronic tonsilitis all his life. Either Tate or Luka has an ear infection every few weeks. im glad something is finally being done.

FlyMeToDunoon · 18/05/2009 08:27

Morning.
Thanks for that Carrielou hope you have a nice holiday. You off today?
Yes the DCs just get on with it but DD2 has been sooo whingy the last few days and her being off nursery does not improve anyone's mood-especially mine!
She wants to go back today and it is tempting.

basl · 18/05/2009 09:38

Morning. Can anyone tell me if the green/grey bjcm is nice or am i best to go for black. Also the beige/brown in the elite is on offer is that a really ugly colour that is is discounted. thanks

claret1980 · 18/05/2009 13:09

Got my Ziko, it is ok but the covers are a little stained so they will have to be washed. Love the colour though. Will have to tell DH now.

abermum · 18/05/2009 13:52

hello pushchair peeps- can you just help me a second.

I have treated myself to a mac xlr (brown/pink) and its arrived today- all fine but two questions

  1. Have maclaren never thought that some mothers are less than 6' tall (the handles come to my boobs

  2. In the bag with the instructions was a strap with a clip on it- wtf is it for- pls tell me its a bit you need if you are using it as a travel system, the instructions have no mention of this random extra part!

Am slightly that this buggy cost over two hundred quid- it doesn't do a dance or make a cup of tea, am i missing something?

Thanks

maxybrown · 18/05/2009 14:02

lol abermum, I have just bought xlr too in brown/green. I had it before in blue and it is a really nice pushchair. I'm just short of 5ft so know what you mean about the handles! But Ds needs the height, he has to extend those handles lol!
I found I just got used to it I have to say.

The strap IS for the car seat yes. It is strange they don't mention it anywhere I know!

Expensive, but they hold their value really really well and the extra room in the seat etc is great!

HTH

NormaSknockers · 18/05/2009 14:21

Ooppss my hand slipped & I appear to have bought a 2009 Zapp still not overly keen on them but folds so small & will be perfect for occasional use plus will look fab fully Snunkie'd up

According to Dorel they haven't raised the handle height at all odd as the Mothercare website states the handle height is now 106.5 so it must have been

FlyMeToDunoon · 18/05/2009 15:12

well my Zapp saga continues:
I bought a Storm one from babyvalue
A Breen came up BIN from them.
I asked if they would refund me so that I could get the Breen and if so would they consider lowering the BIN to £80.
They said yes to a refund and no to lowering the BIN.
Meanwhile Breen sold.
Got email from courier to say collect was confirmed and Storm was at depot.
I reckoned that babyvalue must have assumed I would go ahead with sale as Breen not available anymore.Fair enough.
I advertised Storm for sale.
Got an email from Paypal this morning to say I had a refund from babyvalue.
I cancel ad to sell Storm.
Got an email from babyvalue confirming delivery of Storm.
This afternoon got a Storm Zapp taken in by my neighbour.

Boxed Zapp in Storm in my kitchen. Funds in Paypal. Want to bid on a breen on ebay now! Confused.

nicolamumof3 · 18/05/2009 15:25

oooh busy this afternoon!!

first of all XLR....i wasn't a fan im afraid and sold mine. it was just HUGE was gutted as huge mac fan love the quest and xt but the XLR just a step too far. too big/heavy folded to high, just too much everything really! such a shame as the seat is a lovely size the seat liner lovely but just defeated the purpose of an umbrella fold to me. so got rid and found it hard to sell tbh!! not so easy to sell as an xt. and yes the straps are for car seat.

oooh zapps i've started something here haven't i!!

Norma zapp from babyvalue? what one? i can definitely, definitely say having both that the handles will be higher.

Dunoon can you get the bloody zapp out and see if you like it first? then email them arrange return and get the breen if its still a go-er

FlyMeToDunoon · 18/05/2009 15:33

Lol Nicola! I have emailed babyvalue of course. I think I will open it as it has obviously been opened before and have a little play at home.
Breen thats on is finishing tonight.

maxybrown · 18/05/2009 15:34

Cor my XLR sold within 15 mins Nicola and I got the same as I paid for it! Guess it just all depends. I love mine anyway, lots of room and I think it's tiny compared to all ,my other prams I've had! just high, but need that otherwise DH would fall over it!
