Maclaren Quest - it's great but I always seem to make a right hash of unfolding it...

Am I useless, stupid or just missing some trick?

Ah, all 3

nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 17:24

why?? ha,ha, i find macs a piece of cake so what have you been doing?

differentID · 14/01/2009 17:26

so how are you folding it?

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 14/01/2009 17:27

I find it really easy. Just undo the clip and shake it out.

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 17:53

mmmm, maybe it's just a bit because it's new. I've only used it a few times...

I need to push on the brake with my foot pretty hard to get it to unfold properly, my foot usually slips off once or twice and I end up looking like a total numpty.

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 18:12

which one you got? is it brand new?

differentID · 14/01/2009 18:33

when you use your foot are you using the tip of your foot or are you turning it and using the side? If you use just the tip you will slip off.

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 18:38

It's a Quest and it's brand new, I've used it maybe 5 or 10 times.

I'm using the side of my foot to try and unfold it. Should I need to press on the break to get it fully opened?

OP posts:
differentID · 14/01/2009 18:47

yes, you do.
what I would recommend is bring it into the house and put it up and down a few times in the warm to loosen it a bit. Where did you get it from?

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 18:55

Good idea, I'll have a practice! It is in the house, isn't that normal

I got it from a well known baby shop in Holland (where I live). 'tis this one.

I'm a buggy virgin (have just used the Bugaboo), that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

they are more fiddly since they changed the brakes i must admit. nice colour tho!

differentID · 14/01/2009 19:04

I work in a place that sells them- you'd be surprised at how many people store buggies in cold damp garages and cold car boots.

nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 19:06

oh differentID my dream job

differentID · 14/01/2009 19:08

trust me- it isn't always nice. Especially when you have to tell customers not to put 50 tonnes of shopping on the handles because their breaking the ruddy thing.

nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 19:10

i bet, but i'd be in my element testing pushchairs

bitofadramaqueen · 14/01/2009 19:10

Glad I'm not the only one that finds the brakes fiddly nicolamumof3. I always struggle to get the brake off when trying to get off a very busy bus.

differentID · 14/01/2009 19:14

I love putting the new ones together when they come in, it's great. I also do my homework and try to get my customers to go for a lighter model if they use public transport. Contrary to popular belief, I don't wan't to just sell you a pushchair- I want to make sure it's right for you.

nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 19:15

im v. its a pramaholics dream!!!

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 19:16

Thanks everyone!

The Quest is a decent one isn't ID? I just read a load of stuff from the MN archive and jumped right in...

OP posts:
differentID · 14/01/2009 19:18

yes- I'd go for a quest over a triumph any day of the week. especially if your dc lies down for naps, you can just expend the leg rest so their little feet aren't dangling in mid air.

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 14/01/2009 19:20

Oh, you mean unfold it.

I just stand on the side thing and pull on the carry strap and it folds up fine.

Mine's pretty new too.

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 19:21

Ah, lateral thinking, I always like that I'll give it a go!

OP posts:
chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 14/01/2009 19:23

Meant to say and it unfolds fine! I'm confusing myself!

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 14/01/2009 19:24

No, I meant to say fold it!

Just ignore me, please...

tassisssss · 14/01/2009 19:26

(oh dear, mine lives in the damp cold garage or boot of the car and has done for 5 years...no wonder it's on its last legs!)
