Maclaren Quest - it's great but I always seem to make a right hash of unfolding it...

Am I useless, stupid or just missing some trick?

Mine is a McLaren something else (can't remember because I use it so rarely and can't be arsed going to look) but I got caught out a good few times with the carrying strap.

It kind of looped round a bit and got caught when I was trying to unfold, but this was solved by lifting the strap up before trying to clip the buggy open.

differentID · 14/01/2009 19:35

that would be a Triumph then mawbroon.

chloejessmeg · 14/01/2009 19:39

You can extend the foot rest on a quest? I have the mod quest and I am sure I can't do that? Would be good if I could so will watch this thread now!

When you say you are treading on the brake - you mean the crap brake on the wheel? There is a bit specifically for puttinng your foot on to unfold. But you might have meant this anyway? Mine is very easy to fold and unfold.

differentID · 14/01/2009 19:43

Chloe, you know the flap of fabric hanging down where the dc legs go? Lift it up and you will see a cut out piece on either side. Poke your finger into the gap and you will come to a plastic bit. hook that forward then repeat on the other side.

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 19:43

lol CHEQUERS I've no idea what you meant, but I just had a great laugh trying what I thought you meant

I think I've got it sorted now, I needed to give it a more forceful shake once I'd released the clip on the side. HoHum.

I'm pretty impressed with the Quest but the shopping basket seems surprisingly inaccessible. Or, is it just my bump getting in the way Not sure.

Thanks everyone!

Mine's a Quest mod too. You can definitely extend the footrest. There are little gaps under the front of the footrest, you can just reach in with thumb and fingers and extend at each side.

It's not the most accessible of areas, I'll agree, but easier to get to than on the Triumph as you can push the seat unit up and not have to support it with your arm/ head/ whatever body part is nearest.

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 19:46

How did I miss ID's post on that

x 'tis true!

Sorry NN!

What I meant was this: to put it up, I unclip the clip on the right hand side and give it a good shake.

To put it down I stand on the sticky out bit on the right hand side and pull on the carry strap til it folds and the clip clips itself.

I think that makes sense .

Grin
NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 19:55

That makes perfect sense (and works). I thought you meant: pick it up by the carrying handle (frame is horizontal) use foot to open buggy by pushing down on the other side bar. It was fun trying...

On re-reading it's quite obvious you were talking about folding it

nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 20:08

lol what a thread!!!!

and i thought that I was the only one who liked talking about buggies

differentID · 14/01/2009 20:10

I try not to as it could out me in rl.

nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 20:11

ah best keep out of our pram shed then (our pushchair chat!)

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 20:14

Well, as we are here already... Am I right in assuming those net bags for shopping you put over the handles are a Bad Thing?

OP posts:
differentID · 14/01/2009 20:30

they aren't so bad as the weight is balanced. shopping bags cause pressure on the sides.

Amapoleon · 14/01/2009 20:39

The blooming raincover is useless though. My ds managed to completely break ours yesterday. A few kicks and it split. It was only the second time I used the cover.

differentID · 14/01/2009 20:42

he must be a strong little lad then!

Amapoleon · 14/01/2009 20:48

yes he is a bit on the chunky side.

differentID · 14/01/2009 20:51

Silly question, I know, but is the leg rest down when he's awake and sitting up? That can make the raincover tight which means lo's kick.

Amapoleon · 14/01/2009 20:54

Aah good point, I must check.

IwishIwasamermaid · 14/01/2009 21:00

I just love my Quest!

Stupidly though I went and had another in the space of a year and now have to use a double, when I take the Quest out now it seems tiny

IwishIwasamermaid · 14/01/2009 21:01

obviously I love the babies, just the double buggy is such a struggle sometimes and I'm weary of it today

differentID · 14/01/2009 21:01

lol. double do dwarve singles don't they?
