Handbags - what do you all use?

Hi, my handbag has broken and I desperately need a new one. I like fairly roomy bags that will hold dd's snacks, beaker, etc. Not too fussed about designer label or not, as long as it looks ok, oh, and has a zip fastener (I have been pickpocketted when young 'cos I was stupid enough to carry an open bucket bag)!

What do other mums carry in the day that does the job but looks good too?

i dont - i use dd's change bag for my bits too!

NameChangingMancMidlander · 09/02/2005 13:10

I have a fairly sporty Puma bowling bag.

NameChangingMancMidlander · 09/02/2005 13:11

Mine is really roomy and has a zip and zip up pockets inside. Good casual wear type bag.

MistressMary · 09/02/2005 13:11

Got a rucksack type for me.
A red zip bag for food.
A black bag for changing bag.
It depends where I am going to what I need to take and sometimes things fit into other bags to lessen the load.

mishi1977 · 09/02/2005 13:14

mm it depends how long im out for i either have
a toddlers tiger rucksack when i need a lot of ds things
or my bag is like a small satchel by clarks and i have on in black and in in beige and is big enough to hold my stuff and DS one bottle and a nappy and wipes
has a couple of zip up pockets while also roomy deep bits for ds stuff

bongobum · 09/02/2005 13:20

gap do great ones. I think I saw a black tote with changing mat and handy compartments last week it was £19.99. I got a fab one last summer which is denim and has two patch pockets on the front which hold baby bottles/jars perfectly

I've got a black leather back pack thing - quite good as it has a side zip as well for easy access to wipes, tissues, nappy as well as a back zipped pocket for my purse and an inside one for credit cards. Good for travelling too as there is room for passports etc in the back pocket.
My dh got me it a couple of years ago as he said it was time I had a "mummy's handbag"!

tassis · 10/02/2005 14:21

I share a bag with my wee one too. we've been using a bob the builder backpack for the past year, but i'm getting fed up with it. Time for I change I think. The problem is finding one that dh can take too...

KateandtheGirls · 10/02/2005 14:32

Mine is very much like this. It's a backpack, so it's out of the way, but it's pretty roomy and also looks good.

bundle · 10/02/2005 14:36

mine's a backpack too, from from M&S . i deliberately bought a smallish bag so i wouldn't be tempted to carry too much and hurt my shoulders

gingerbear · 10/02/2005 14:42

this is my everyday bag.
I like this one too

I used to carry a black jansport backpack for DD's nappies etc.

tassis · 10/02/2005 14:50

I LOVE that per una one gingerbear, butwould definately not fit all ds' stuff in their too...

tassis · 10/02/2005 14:50

I have one handbag, which I use for going out proeprly only. Got it from France, last October. It is a black leather Longchamps one and I love it

Rest o time - it is a Kipling SuperNanny, or DD's Alladin duffle bag.

nailpolish · 10/02/2005 21:01

I have just bought this fab bag from a new brand called Storksak. I bought it online but I think they are also selling them in Selfridges - I think it is a good price for what it is and I will use it for work aswell - its got all the usual stuff - insulated pocklets, changing mat but also a few extras -e.g mirror - but the main thing is - it looks really good and is really practical aswell - a real treat!

colditzmum · 10/02/2005 23:04

fredtbad · 10/02/2005 23:14

Leather Fendi

fredtbad · 10/02/2005 23:15

I've just thought...it's called 'mama', that's nice

nikkim · 10/02/2005 23:34

black loius vuiton rucksack for when I am with dd.

brown louis vuiton handbag for when I am on my own.

Good thing about handbags is that they still fit after all those post pregnancy pounds and finishing off kids teas!

fredtbad · 10/02/2005 23:37

Ooh I love my LV, I'm quite ashamed how much I love handbags......and just don't get me started on shoes
