Why are slippers sexist

I would like slippers that are:

1. not furry/ fluffy, so I can wear them in warmer weather
2. have proper soles (for taking the bins out and padding around on my uncarpeted floors etc)
3. are plain-ish and not something my grandma would wear (sorry Nan)

I am a woman in my late 30s and a UK size 4 (37) and all I can find that fits the bill are men’s slippers?

Would Ugg boots or similar work? Comfy and practical

This is how I feel about kitchen gloves, especially the long ones 🥲 I need a large but in the supermarket kitchen gloves only come in S and M. I can get gardener’s gloves in L though!

Ugg slippers have to be the best investment I cannot be without mine - I got the grey and they still look great after 2 years! Hard sole too.

My best slippers are from Birkenstock and they have lasted far longer then any other slipper I have owned

Most women will have more than one pair of slippers, summer winter etc

I have Birkenstocks slippers. They have a firm foot bed and a solid sole. Mine have been going strong for at least 3 years. Before that I had Mahabis which I also liked.

Take a look at Next, they have some that fit the bill.
Missing the point but you wear slippers outside to sort the bin? Surely you wear outdoor shoes for that?

I noticed that Primark were selling a lot of Ugg-style slippers for not much money.

The sole on my slippers finally disintegrated after 5 years, but I think I'm going to get myself another pair of Gumbies

They aren't fur lined and the boots, whilst ugly, are great in draughty homes.

I wear Moshulu slippers. They are not fancy, have a hard sole and last forever. They have a lot of different styles.

I wear these when it's cold (like now!) as they have rubber soles so I can still wander outside to the bin, get deliveries etc:

My Celtic sheepskin house boots slippers are entering their 14th winter. They are machine washable and look great, albeit not new. Real sheepskin. Is warm in winter and cool in summer. They have a sufficiently decent sole for putting the buns out. An excellent investment.

Huh? There are plenty of practical options available.

It drives me mad when OH wears his slippers outside. We are a shoes off house and it totally defeats the point!!

Comfortable, good sole for popping outside, if cold I put on thick socks.

Glerups felt house shoes. They come in all sizes from children to adults. Are warm. Can come with a leather or rubber sole and colours from neutral to frivolous. I love them.
