Why are slippers sexist

I would like slippers that are:

1. not furry/ fluffy, so I can wear them in warmer weather
2. have proper soles (for taking the bins out and padding around on my uncarpeted floors etc)
3. are plain-ish and not something my grandma would wear (sorry Nan)

I am a woman in my late 30s and a UK size 4 (37) and all I can find that fits the bill are men’s slippers?

I knew the bin comment was going to be controversial 😂In fairness, I envisaged doing the two steps from back door to bin to throw something in if it's dry on the ground, rather than wheeling the bins out to the kerb, IYSWIM.

@mumofboysinlondon honestly, my padders are made of fleece material and they are not fur lined. easy to kick off when you put your feet up and thrown your feet into when you get up in the morning. definitely the best soles for running in and out to the garden, dropping off at school etc without the need to change!! lol as long as you dont get out the car! 20 odd pounds a pair so not expensive.

I've never owned a pair of slippers 😆. If it's really really cold then I wear socks but that would probably be for less than ten times in a year.

Slippers make me shrivel up a bit, but I wear Birkenstock lined Boston clogs around the house and when going to bins. Just don’t call them slippers, ever.

I think deep down, this is my problem 😂

Used to wear Moshulu but now have Gumbies and they seem to be indestructible. Going well 3 years so far, after a recommendation on here.

The suede sole is OK for light (dry) outdoor use, but there are similar things with a more solid sole.

Haflinger Grizzly Torben felt clogs. I know you said no open backs, but I don’t like them either and I really like these. They’re like a hug for your feet. They have a proper sole and are perfect for nipping to the bins.

I just get boys. Or gumbies, but they are not to everyone's taste.

Hush puppy, totes, clarks etc all do women's moccasins. I wear mine outside and in the summer.

You can definitely get more sensible and practical slippers, just accept that they are targeted for older women, like me lol 😆

Also would never get uggs having found out about the animal cruelty factors. No need for real fur.

I have felt Birkenstocks that I wear all day every day - I love them.

before these I had Moshulu ones and a pair if Homeys before that.

All have good solid go outside soles - and are very comfortable.
