Shein refusing to refund me

ForWaryBiscuit · 20/10/2024 15:04

Hi guys I sent 2 orders back to shein in the same returns box (so a combined return) I have been refunded for the 1 order but not the other, when the 2 orders were in the same box to be returned.

I've contacted shein and they ate basically saying that my other order has not reached their warehouse. It should have because it was in the SAME box. I really don't know what to do I've been going back and for fos days. It's not just one little thing it's £80 worth of stuff. So now I don't even have the stuff or a refund

Anyone else had a similar situation amd how did you resolve it

I will be deleting shein app off of my phone once I've sorted this

Yes, I had a last minuite holiday to Turkey. Needed summer stuff. Unfortunately it was all cheap see threw tat

Did you not know this?

Do you not read reviews?

purplebeansprouts · 20/10/2024 16:56

If she'd had to leave her living situation with no clothes it's unlikely she'd be going on holiday to turkey

So she wouldn't be treated by a friend? Or actually be a well earning individual in her own right who had to leave her accommodation.
Yeah stuff like that never happens.

XelaM · 20/10/2024 15:21

Why do posters bother to comment when they just want to be nasty and sanctimonious 🙄

Shein do loads of nice stuff and we can't all afford to shop at Louis Vuitton 🙄

Anyway, OP - my daughter has always received refunds from Shein so I would definitely keep on them. Maybe post on their social media?

I can't afford designer

But I'd rather have one item at £50 than 5 at £50

There's lots of reasons it's cheap

And none of them good

NotOneOfTheInCrowd · 20/10/2024 17:00

Don’t you lot have some lentils to weave or something?

I mean if you’re on mobile phones most of which of the components have been made by slave labour then you ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

And I assume none of you ever visit McDonalds or drink Coca Cola?

In fact I presume you live off the land and never use consumer products, because there’s virtually no such thing as an ethical company. Yes some are more unethical than others, but they all play their part.

Nanny0gg · 20/10/2024 17:01

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 20/10/2024 15:33

I have used shein alot, but have been burnt before by their combined return policy, luckily only a few quid but it does mean I do individual order returns now.

Did you pay on credit card or PayPal @ForWaryBiscuit? If so you can open a dispute. Do you have the email/postal receipt confirming the return had been collected?

Shein do great kids clothes and plus size. Their quality and ethics are no worse than the likes of Primark. ASOS and BooHoo.

Where I wouldn't shop either.

Sorry.

Nanny0gg · 20/10/2024 17:02

ForWaryBiscuit · 20/10/2024 15:43

What's it to you WHY I ordered the clothes

Also I don't care where the clothes go after I returned them, I just wanted my money back

And therein lies the problem

The OP is not alone in that attitude

Nanny0gg · 20/10/2024 17:04

grumpypedestrian · 20/10/2024 15:51

I don’t see what’s ‘shitty’ about being upset at people using these companies that are widely known to force people into unsafe and unethical working conditions.

You go work 18 hour days with 1 day off a month (if you’re lucky) on next to no pay and then say it’s not an issue.

Plus the things they sell are often knock-offs of other people's hard work and threaten their livelihoods.

Nanny0gg · 20/10/2024 17:06

WhatsInTheRug · 20/10/2024 15:53

Rude and judgey.....where do YOU buy all your stuff from??

Valid point on the toys

They don't conform to our safety standards

(Bet a lot of the clothes don't either)

Nanny0gg · 20/10/2024 17:09

XelaM · 20/10/2024 16:31

Where do you buy your stuff from? It's all made the same way - just some sell it more expensive (unless you only shop at luxury brands 🙄)

No it isn't.

Most high st shops have standards manufacturers (even Chinese ones) have to adhere to and checks are made.

Nanny0gg · 20/10/2024 17:12

WhatsInTheRug · 20/10/2024 16:42

But charity shops are flooded with Shein and primark!

Because they're treated as disposable

Nanny0gg · 20/10/2024 17:13

FlibbertyGibbitt · 20/10/2024 16:43

Can you post on their social media ? Email their CEO ? I’ve had this before and had to do the above. Ignore all the unhelpful comments , did you pay by credit card or PayPal by any chance?

They are a ginormous company ! Do you think they care?

VerityUnreasonble · 20/10/2024 17:26

@WhatsInTheRug I don't mind telling you my shopping habits. I buy mostly 2nd hand, either charity shops or vinted, saves things from ending up in landfill - these are cheap, I doubt I have spent more than £40 on a single item and most probably around £10- £15. I occasionally buy new items but try and stick to recycled fabric and things that I know are produced in places with regulations around work and wages. Small and independent designers often have lovely things - these are often more expensive but many of them I've had for years. Occasionally, because I'm not a saint and value convenience at times, I'll buy something from a supermarket, pants and socks mostly, I think.

When I'm done with things, I donate them to charity shops or if they aren't suitable I take them for recycling.

I don't buy shein even 2nd hand, but this is because I think the quality is pretty shit. I don't buy shein new because they are an ethical shit show. If you're interested there is a documentary on channel 4 which shows some of the conditions.

The textile industry is a massive contributor to greenhouse gas and waste water. It's worse than flying. The UK is pretty awful in terms of how much we buy and how much we dump in landfill. If we bought more 2nd hand, and 5 minutes on vinted will show how many "worn a handful of times" items there are with plenty of use left, we could genuinely make a difference for the future.

Small changes, if done by enough people, add up.

They are 'ex ring our data'?

Meant to say gathering.

Who knows ? Worth a try isn’t it ?

Garlicbest · 20/10/2024 18:04

Blimey.

I buy some things from Shein - not many, because of the slave labour, and I limit purchases from the likes of Boohoo and New Look for the SAME reason. Like a PP, I look first at E5P for cheap clothes because that doesn't add to the demand for production. Shein quality's mostly good, ime.

Their returns service marks some items as able to be combined, others not. I've assumed this means they're handled by different depots. I did once send two orders back in the same package - I'd done everything right, then had a brain fart. It took about three weeks, @ForWaryBiscuit, and a mixture of live chat and email to get it sorted, but I was refunded. Good luck, and enjoy your holiday!

BTW, for future reference - a lot of our budget fashion is made in Turkey and it's a great country for clothes shopping - lots of natural fabrics and talented designers.

Ethical consumers: I'm plugging Nobody's Child here! It's one of VERY few fashion retailers that actually puts their ethics into practice, and the details page for each item tells you where it was made. Affordable, always has fresh stuff in the clearance section, and plenty of discount banners 🙂

Attelina · 20/10/2024 18:11

Sorry if it's been mentioned but how did you pay?

Always use PayPal when buying online as the are excellent at refunding and will almost always side with the buyer.

Yeah stuff like that never happens.

My boyfriend paid for the whole holiday if you must know, because im a lucky girly like that.

But regardless of who paid for MY holiday, I want my refund back lool

Of course you want your money back. Keep on at them. A charge back with your bank if you don’t get anywhere?

Do you not have a credit card OP? (Section 75 protection under the Consumer Credit Act is way more powerful than the Chargeback scheme operated by banks.) I know it doesn't help with this refund, but for future reference, paying by credit card for purchases in excess of £100 is the best way to go, particularly if you're going to continue to buy stuff from China, Singapore or Hong Kong.
