dd1 was 4 yesterday and recieved a pony riding show ground box of wonderousness.

There are a lot of little bits though aren't there? And a small yellow minature screw driver that I am still unsure about.

I have a lasting memory of entering Chippy's ds's bedroom and the whole room was a giant playmobil diorama.

So I need tips.

Do you pack the kits away in special boxes or just let free mixing occur ?(I am a wee bit anal)

Are there any universal 'you must have this item' bits.

How long will this playmobil phase last? Will I be buying a lot more of this stuff?
There are an awful lot of little bits.

magso · 09/04/2008 09:49

hifi · 09/04/2008 10:29

i assembled dds triangular house yesterday, £48 and i had to do all the work, still some to do, sticking stickers on jars etc.dont think its worth rhe £ though.

Marne · 09/04/2008 10:36

We bought dd1 some playmobil for x-mas (a playground, small house, rabbits etc..), she also bought a bus with her xmas money. The bits started off in there own boxes now they are all mixed up. Dd spaends hours playing with it and so do i

Kathyis6incheshigh · 09/04/2008 10:41

Maybe for a live webchat MN Towers could get someone from Playmobil.

'Why are there no scientists? Can't you sell them ready-assembled? How do you decide what to make?' etc.

MerlinsBeard · 09/04/2008 10:44

i think someone further down (or up) the thread mentioned there was a csi ste..?? maybe there is a person in a lab coat in that?

SoMuchToBits · 09/04/2008 10:44

Morning everyone - I hope your Playmopeople all slept well. Ours did, Norman the foreman got up when he heard me putting the kettle on. Ds deceide this morning that Norman and his firends were going on holiday again, so they all collected their luggage and set off (on the airport bus). They took with them a football, a pair of binoculars, a laptop, a mobile phone and a list, and of course, the tea-making facilites. They will be staying in the family vacation home (the family have kindly let it out for a while).

SoMuchToBits · 09/04/2008 10:45

Good idea, Kathy. We often have ideas of sets we would like them to make (ds wants a real lifeboat for a start).

Kathyis6incheshigh · 09/04/2008 10:56

God yes, I we would love a lifeboat too. There was some harbour rescue boat once but it's not the same.
A lighthouse wouldn't come amiss. Also, they have never AFAIK done a proper yacht with a cabin. It would be so fab - a family could go on a round-the-world cruise and get shipwrecked and rescued by pirates.

SoMuchToBits · 09/04/2008 10:58

Yes, we have the rescue boat, which has to make do as a lifeboat. A lighthouse is a fab idea - we had thought of getting the airport tower with flashing light, so that it could double as a lighthouse, but a proper lighthouse would be brilliant!

Enid · 09/04/2008 10:58

all ours goes in a giant box

hence dragons in riding schools and soldiers in ambulances

but the ginormous castle is always out, polly pocket lives in it sometimes

I have superglued some of the tiny weeny bits (bangles, some of the hosptial bits)

kathy I could have sworn we had an inshore RIB-type lifeboat when we were kids...

would this not do?

Enid · 09/04/2008 11:01

our treasury is missing a wall

the thief can literally walk in

the security is poor

SoMuchToBits · 09/04/2008 11:02

We have that set and use it as the inshore lifeboat!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 09/04/2008 11:03

Only if your boat gets in trouble very close to the shore, MrsBadger. Out at sea in bad weather that would be no good at all

SoMuchToBits · 09/04/2008 11:04

Actually, Enid I think security is poor on most Playmobil buildings - they all have open areas so you can play with them more easily, but they are a burglar's paradise!

SoMuchToBits · 09/04/2008 11:05

Quite right, Kathy, that set is only to be used as an inshore lifeboat, it wouldn't do for an all-weather lifeboat.

Oliveoil · 09/04/2008 11:06

oh god I want some now

dh will shoot me if I get anymore toys however

Enid · 09/04/2008 11:07

yes

noone has explained the poor security to the thief

he looks extremely pleased with himself

SoMuchToBits · 09/04/2008 11:08

How old are your dcs OliveOil?

Enid · 09/04/2008 11:13

playmobil is the BEST

played with endlessly here

MimieD · 09/04/2008 11:14

Love this thread. I managed to convince DD that she really does not want the Magical Castle for her 4th B-day but would much rather have the modern living house...I already got an ambulance on the cheap and she's currently playing with my old playmobil stuff, great fun! I remember being really jealous of my cousin and his big pirate ship (complete with cold coins and cannon balls)

Enid · 09/04/2008 11:14

oh the magical castle is WONDERFUL
