Yesterday I entered the dark and mysterious world of PLAYMOBIL

dd1 was 4 yesterday and recieved a pony riding show ground box of wonderousness.

There are a lot of little bits though aren't there? And a small yellow minature screw driver that I am still unsure about.

I have a lasting memory of entering Chippy's ds's bedroom and the whole room was a giant playmobil diorama.

So I need tips.

Do you pack the kits away in special boxes or just let free mixing occur ?(I am a wee bit anal)

Are there any universal 'you must have this item' bits.

How long will this playmobil phase last? Will I be buying a lot more of this stuff?
There are an awful lot of little bits.

I have added a few more, as Norman is enjoying his holiday so much!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 14/04/2008 16:27

I like Norman's taste in ties.

SoMuchToBits · 14/04/2008 16:31

Yes, Norman is one of the few Playmo people we own to have a tie. Perhaps that is because most of them are firemen, airport workers etc. Actually some of the airport men have ties, but plain coloured ones.

MilaMae · 14/04/2008 20:05

Enjoyed seeing Norman's holiday pics, think his twin brother lives with us he's normally to be found whizzing up and down his crane-Slubber where are the pony girls, mighty impressed with the cakes????

Slubberdegullion · 14/04/2008 20:17

Pony girls and show jumping arena were utterly trashed by the Godzillas of the pony world: My little ponies Melody and Bon Bon.

Will have to recreate scene tomorrow when the destroyers have gone to Pre-school.

MilaMae · 14/04/2008 20:23

Cool looking forward to it!!!!

Will probably be the highlight of my day as my 3 have a 3rd week off pre-school (sob) and mummy is fast getting to the end of her Easter holidays ways to amuse destroyers list.

Slubberdegullion · 14/04/2008 20:28

3 weeks for easter. How awful. You have my deepest sympathies.

SoMuchToBits · 14/04/2008 22:42

I always felt a bit like that when my ds was that age. Now he's 7, the holidays fly by, and I miss him when he goes back. He said today that he would like Playmobil to do a fire plane (as opposed to helicopter). We should add that to the list.

Norman is very pleased you have all enjoyed looking at his holiday photos. He hopes you have noticed that a cup of tea features in all of them.

SoMuchToBits · 14/04/2008 22:44

I'm looking forward to seeing the Pony Girls btw (sounds like the name of a pop group, doesn't it?)

Slubberdegullion · 16/04/2008 17:01

Pony Girl Horse Riding Championships now on profile

SoMuchToBits · 16/04/2008 18:29

Lol, Slubber! Who won, then? Duplo or Playmobil?????

Smithagain · 16/04/2008 18:43

This thread inspired me to get out the two small Playmobil sets I got in the Sainsbury's sale. Had kept them for a rainy day, but you lot undermined me!

The rollerblading guy is FABULOUS. He has little, real metal wheels on his blades and he can really go!

MilaMae · 16/04/2008 19:43

Brighteyes and Bonbon need a bit of grooming, blimey Ponyboy's whip is scarey!!!

We had our rollerblading guy out today too,had numerous hideous accidents poor soul, finally carted off in the ambulance with his rollerblades sticking out!!!!!

Smithagain · 16/04/2008 20:29

Have just gone upstairs to find the girls playing Playmobil combined with dolls house.

All the rollerblading guy's spare gear was stored neatly in the garage. Which was spooky given our recent, futile attempts at tidying up.

And all the adults were sleeping together in the double bed, with all the children were sleeping in the spare room - along with both horses. Not sure how concerned I should be about those sleeping arrangements

PigeonPie · 16/04/2008 21:41

Well, having followed this thread, I ordered the catalogue and it came yesterday (do you think they've had a run on catalogues!?) so I took it up to bed with me and thought I'd hidden it pretty well between the bedside table and the bed. DS1 (2.5) came into the bedroom this morning and found it almost immediately and started looking at it!

Have told him that it's stuff which is older cousin (7) plays with, but I'm not sure how long that will last, especially as she's not really interested in fire engines and aeroplanes which her bedroom is currently housing and she's starting to need the room for more of the house, farm, hospital sort of things, so I guess we'll be starting the wonderful world of Playmobil pretty soon

FunkyGlassSlipper · 17/04/2008 08:50

I've ordered the catalogue too. DD1 has decided she's like the camper van to go with her Marlin Cruiser/Family Yacht.

Slubberdegullion · 17/04/2008 09:04

lol we got the catalogue yesterday too. there must have been a run following this thread

The dds have spotted the pink unicorns with fairies . DH has the page with the Roman Arena folded over.

OP posts:
SoMuchToBits · 17/04/2008 10:49

The camper van is good, Funky. It has lots of little accessories.

Ds's girlfriend (and her two younger sisters) came to play yesterday, and spent a lot of the time with the Family Vacation Home. Unfortunately they left Norman and his mates lying around, so ds told me this morning they were all tired. He put them all to bed (Norman has taken a cup of tea with him) in the Family Vacation Home.

Btw Slubber who did win the Pony Championships?

stealthsquiggle · 17/04/2008 10:49

You've done it again. We are on an economy drive, people.

..but now I we need a rollerblading guy.

I can recommend the Roman arena, BTW - all comers welcome as spectators and occasional participants at ours. Police and Ambulance generally required.

SoMuchToBits · 17/04/2008 10:52

We need an ambulance. When ds's lifeboat men have been on a rescue, there is no ambulance waiting for them. Actually, even if we had an ambulance, we have nowhere for it to go with the surviviors - we need a hospital too!!!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 17/04/2008 10:53

I've just thought of something else I want. Playmobil archaeologists.
Also, a Playmobil museum.

Slubberdegullion · 17/04/2008 10:54

SoMuch, the pony championshipe were in full swing (playmobil folk doing very well) when the arena had to be evacuated due to a monster attack (Giant Evil Stag) who trashed the joint.

All pony participants then had to have a bath

Oh I bought my first special person yesterday. A Roman Senator with a scroll, for DH's b'day (to go on his desk). He has a stong sense that in a previous life he was a Roman citizen so this should please him no end.

OP posts:
SoMuchToBits · 17/04/2008 10:55

Right. We need to make a list of all the Playmobil sets we would like them to introduce, and then send it to their Customer Services!

Slubberdegullion · 17/04/2008 10:55

£1.24 from Sainsburys. Bobby Bargain.

EffiePerine · 17/04/2008 10:57

I was most annoyed that they do not have a Playmobil library - why not?
