Yesterday I entered the dark and mysterious world of PLAYMOBIL

dd1 was 4 yesterday and recieved a pony riding show ground box of wonderousness.

There are a lot of little bits though aren't there? And a small yellow minature screw driver that I am still unsure about.

I have a lasting memory of entering Chippy's ds's bedroom and the whole room was a giant playmobil diorama.

So I need tips.

Do you pack the kits away in special boxes or just let free mixing occur ?(I am a wee bit anal)

Are there any universal 'you must have this item' bits.

How long will this playmobil phase last? Will I be buying a lot more of this stuff?
There are an awful lot of little bits.

See you in about 2 hours then, Kathy!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 10/04/2008 20:26

Oh my God. The pyramid!!!!

Slubber Slubber Slubber there are lots of new horsey things for you and your dds - even a new vet.

Liked the undersea shark hunt stuff. There are some great new submarines. Wedding a bit vomitworthy and I am not too sure about the giant skull thing in the pirate set, but overall.... they are doing a good job

It takes forever to load.... but when you see the pyramid thing you see why.....

SoMuchToBits · 10/04/2008 20:29

We liked the undersea stuff too - and all the new construction sets. Didn't even look at the wedding stuff (not ds's sort of thing). But loved the new police sets. There is even a jewel thief hooking the jewels out of the display case with a fishing-rod!

stealthsquiggle · 10/04/2008 21:10

blimey this site (playmobil.de) is slow - is that due to a sudden rush of MNers?

Since this made the front page of Mumsnet, what chance of MN Towers getting us a Playmobil development person to scare the living daylights out of ask constructive questions about what they are going to do next (and for them give us lots of free stuff to "try out" [hopeful])?

stealthsquiggle · 10/04/2008 21:55

Slubber - there is pony stuff in Playmobil micro now - how cool is that?!! And an micro airport [need]. Am also liking the whale, and what appears to be the cast from "The Mummy".

So, I have a friend who is moving back from Germany in the summer (forces move) - do you think I could/should persuade her to add a huge container box of Playmobil to their packing?

SoMuchToBits · 10/04/2008 22:59

OOooooohhhh! Didn't realise it had made the front page! Yes, please persuade your friend to bring back a huge container of Plymobil for us our dcs!

Squirdle · 10/04/2008 23:31

Yay, I wanna my children wanna test Playmobil Where do I sign up???

SoMuchToBits · 10/04/2008 23:37

-I- my ds will volunteer to test it too. We are real connoisseurs and know what makes a good Playmobil set! Except for the girly stuff, but perhaps ds could bring his girlfriend along for that?

Squirdle · 10/04/2008 23:48

Me and the DS's will even test the girly stuff

SoMuchToBits · 10/04/2008 23:50

Weeeelllll.... I'm not really into Princess castles myself, but I would happily volunteer to test the Modern Living House and all the room sets for it!

Slubberdegullion · 11/04/2008 08:37

Question: why am I waiting for the playmobil.de site to upload (at a quite frankly disgracefully un prompt German pace), in order to see micro ponies in a pyramid , when I should be making chocolate heart shaped cup cakes for dd1's b'day party tomorrow????

Why eh?

I am regretting starting this thread tbh

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 11/04/2008 08:42

I take it all back. The pyramid movie was beyond brilliant. Cake can wait.

Not sure I ever thought I would ever hear myself think that.

SoMuchToBits · 11/04/2008 09:36

Ah, you see now, once you enter the world of Playmobil ......... there is no escape!

Actually I am very glad you started this thread - it gives me a great excuse to talk about Playmobil! Ds decided this morning that he would like a Playmobil restaurant, so that Norman and his friends can go out for dinner. I know there is a "cafe interior" in the direct service catalogue, but that is obviously not good enough for Norman (although it does serve tea).

He would also like a hotel for his holidaymakers to stay in.

BettySpaghetti · 11/04/2008 09:45

Is Norman due a short back and sides?

This thread has got me Playmobil obsessed -just been browsing ebay and toyshops to see if theres anything interesting for DS's birthday

SoMuchToBits · 11/04/2008 09:51

I think Norman has a short back and sides already - but perhaps he would like to try a longer hairstyle for a change???? I will have to ask ds about that one! He could always have his moustache trimmed (Norman has black hair and a moustache).

MrsBadger · 11/04/2008 09:53

Would DS (and Norman) countenace the one of the farmhouses for use as a gite?

The dolls house or the mansion would make an excellent hotel too...

SoMuchToBits · 11/04/2008 09:57

Norman and Brian

SoMuchToBits · 11/04/2008 09:59

Possibly, Mrs B

We are thinking of a Modern Living House, to be used as a lifeboat station, but I suppose it could double as a hotel. I agree the Grande Mansion would make quite a posh hotel. Will have to suggest it to ds.

BettySpaghetti · 11/04/2008 10:00

I think Norman moonlights as one of Village People

SoMuchToBits · 11/04/2008 10:02

Fortunately, ds has no idea who the Village People are!

BettySpaghetti · 11/04/2008 10:04

Here you go - Norman and his mates

Kathyis6incheshigh · 11/04/2008 10:04

Norman sounds like he is doing very well out of the construction industry. He's like one of these builders you hear about who drive Jaguars. I bet he gets paid cash in hand, too

SoMuchToBits · 11/04/2008 10:06

LOL Betty!

Yes, Kathy, I'm not sure where Norman gets all the money to go on all these holidays, seeing as he never seems to do any actual work!

SoMuchToBits · 11/04/2008 10:07

Actually, thinking about it, Norman doesn't have a car. Perhaps we should ask Playmobil to do a posh car, suitable for the likes of Norman.....

Kathyis6incheshigh · 11/04/2008 10:20

I'm sure there was a vintage car once when they did lots of Victorian stuff.

By the way, I have realised there is a lighthouse - the pirates have one. But we really want a modern one, with a bearded lighthouse keeper and his cat.
