Yesterday I entered the dark and mysterious world of PLAYMOBIL

dd1 was 4 yesterday and recieved a pony riding show ground box of wonderousness.

There are a lot of little bits though aren't there? And a small yellow minature screw driver that I am still unsure about.

I have a lasting memory of entering Chippy's ds's bedroom and the whole room was a giant playmobil diorama.

So I need tips.

Do you pack the kits away in special boxes or just let free mixing occur ?(I am a wee bit anal)

Are there any universal 'you must have this item' bits.

How long will this playmobil phase last? Will I be buying a lot more of this stuff?
There are an awful lot of little bits.

Slubs - pirate lady 4614 in the 'specials' range on here - I am sure her underwear is lovely, though probably black or red.

Slubberdegullion · 09/04/2008 20:54

I bet she does, for fear of some bugger swapping it for the wino's bottle of wine, or my pony girl's whip.

Kathy. I think you are right (re knickers). Her piccie is my case in point: 2 hands = 2 weapons plus utility weapon belt.

Therefore each pirate = 3 weapons.

That's a lot of little plastic swords for a boat of pirate folk.

right off to watch the apprentice.

Love this thread - it was ds's 3rd birthday today and we gave him the following playmobil:

  • the take along knight's castle
  • the police car with lights
  • the robbers with the safe with bullion and cash

It has been great fun watching him and dh playing and the robbers have been fighting the knights in the castle .

We have so much fun and ds is bulding up quite a collection. I love Playmobil.

hollyhobbie · 09/04/2008 22:35

Has anyone mentioned the Bin Lorry? That was DD's Christmas present.

(I've searched for a pic, but I think it was a limited edition German one - the bin lorry is orange to match the ones here in Germany)

stealthsquiggle · 09/04/2008 22:41

Holly we have the bin lorry ("recycling truck") - but in grey. Where Norman the builder foreman (sorry Norman) is King in the SoMuch household, here it is the bin men. When any new vehicle arrives the bin men always have to have a test drive, but woe betide any policeman/fireman/pilot/farmer who suggests that they might have a go at driving the bin lorry

hollyhobbie · 09/04/2008 22:54

glad to know we're not alone... We have all the bins laid out around the living room with scraps of paper in and the lorry goes round doing collections.

hum. just been on ebay and bought a spaceman for £1.04... must be time to BACK AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!

Ponka · 10/04/2008 08:05

Holly, we have just bought the bin lorry for DS's Birthday. Our house looks very similar to yours at the end of the day with boxes of various bits all tipped out everywhere to be used as bins for pretend bin lorries.

I'm so surprised at what you can get for playmobil. I just went on ebay and typed in playmobil followed by a couple of DS's favourite things and before I knew it I was buying a bin lorry, road sweeper and working car wash with water, which arrived from Germany in 5 days flat. That's Christmas sorted as well as Birthdays I think!

hollyhobbie · 10/04/2008 09:12

We live in Germany and just down the road from the Playmobil Fun Park in Zirndorf. We took DD there last week for her 3rd birthday treat.

BettySpaghetti · 10/04/2008 09:26

ooh hollyhobbie please tell us more about the Playmobil place -where is it? Can you do a link to it please?

DP wants us to go to Germany to visit his relatives -this might make the trip worthwhile!

Oliveoil · 10/04/2008 09:30

where can I order a catalogue from, the uk playmobil site keeps kicking me out (I think dh may have a sixth sense...)

Kathyis6incheshigh · 10/04/2008 10:11

There is usually a pile of them in any toyshop, Olive.

MerlinsBeard · 10/04/2008 10:14

there is a playmobil land...???

OO let me know if yoiu don't find one in one of your local toy shops and i will try and get one and post it out if you want?

hollyhobbie · 10/04/2008 12:50

Playmobil Fun Park

I've linked to the German one in Zirndorf (in Bavaria, near Nuremberg), but they have them in other countries too.

It's pretty good- lots of outdoor bits and a huge indoor bit for when it's raining, which is a big cafe but full of playmobil bits that the kids can play with, and enclosed places full of the 123 range for smaller ones.

hollyhobbie · 10/04/2008 12:51

the cheeky thing is you can only exit the park through the shop

BettySpaghetti · 10/04/2008 13:32

Thanks hollyhbbie -just had a quick look, it looks fantastic! Mahoosively cheaper than Legoland thats for sure !

Only problem is DPs family live around 500km from it I think

FranMay · 10/04/2008 14:19

Ahh, playmobil! One of the most stressful things I've done is let ds play with it on the table in our dining room where we have floorboards. The anxiety of little bits disappearing down the gaps...when we first got a small set of it, I used to check the bits back into the box at the end (anal), now it is all mixed up!

LOL at Stealth's bin-men! The top Playmo people in our house are Norman the Foreman(How dare you call me a builder!) and Bossy Ross the fireboat captain lifeboat coxswain.

However, we have some other entertaining characters, including Caroline the catamaran woman.

Did you know that often the new sets in Germany this year come out in the UK the next year. Ds and I have been looking at the German Playmobil website today - there are some great sets including a road-roller, some undersea adventure sets and a police seaplane. There are also going to be Egyptians and a vet's clinic. Oh, and a new Modern living house, icluding a conservatory!
