Nissan Qashqai

We have just put a deposit down on a 17 plate Qashqai and now read some horror stories about them. Anyone got one?

We’re looking for a bigger car and it was between the Qashqai and the Tucson.

Have we made the right choice?

I love mine. Had it for three years and will get another after this. Most comfortable car to ever to drive.

WorriedMillie · 03/05/2021 07:09

We’ve got one, I inherited it when my dad died. It’s probably not my first choice of car, but my first choice is terribly impractical 😂
We’ve only got one DC, so it’s big enough for us. DD likes the glass roof

I've had a qashqai+2 for the last 5/6 years. Only got the +2 as it was second hand and had better mileage. I've loved it, never had any problems. I feel very safe driving it and love being up higher as I'm not the world's tallest person. Never had any problems with it other than the usual problems any car has over time. I'm starting to think about chancing it now and I do like the Hyundai's. My friend has a lovely one she let me try when she first got it and I'm kind of set on that next but who knows!!

We had a Qashqai for 7 years. It was amazing. Sailed through every MOT. The only things that needed replacing in 7 years were the tyres.
We've just put a deposit down on an x trail as we loved the Qashqai so much.

Elai1978 · 03/05/2021 08:53

Love it! Great to drive, responsive, fast, quiet, comfortable, brilliant reversing camera, our favourite car ever.

What on earth have you driven before if you think a QQ is responsive and fast? Performance is glacial! As a white-goods car they’d be great apart from the recent decline in reliability. Nissan used to make quality cars, since Renault’s involvement they’ve sadly dropped to the same level as French shite.

Alwayschilly · 03/05/2021 09:32

Love my Quashqai! I’ve had for 7 years and it’s been an amazing car. Perfect size for a family car without being too massive for me to drive. Go for it!

Its90minutestonight · 03/05/2021 09:36

Not much leg room in the back, but otherwise very happy with it. What problems are you reading about?

clpsmum · 03/05/2021 10:29

I have a quashquai a d last car was a Tucson. I've liked both of them tbh

clpsmum · 03/05/2021 10:31

Like the quashquai more to Pugh

TheFormidableMrsC · 03/05/2021 10:36

I really loved mine. Huge boot and the reversing camera is brilliant. However when things started to go wrong, the repair costs were prohibitive so I got rid of it in the end. I don't need a big car anymore but I do miss it for things like tip or IKEA trips.

lollipoprainbow · 03/05/2021 11:01

I love mine but I'm having real trouble with the key, I seem to be constantly replacing the battery! anyone else have this issue?

PickledWilly · 15/05/2021 22:01

Bought a 17 plate in November and love it. We got the Tekna + so has full leather, heated screen, heated seats, glass roof, 360 cameras. A bit sluggish but miles better than my old hatchback. Love being high up. Love not having to get my keys out of my bag. Love the little beep when it detects something has braked hard in front of me Grin

MiddleClassMother · 15/05/2021 22:26

Got one of these as a hire car when mine was having the windows tinted, was totally gutless! I wouldn't buy one.

stressfuljune · 15/05/2021 22:29

I love my +2 Was great when always had loads of kids to give lifts etc
Plenty of room. Boot stuffed full.

Seeline · 15/05/2021 22:37

I hate mine!
Horribly underpowered.
Very cramped in the rear (two teens)
Boot is ridiculously small - struggle to fit luggage for four when going on holiday.
Visibility is bad
Takes hours to de-mist
Random warning lights light up for no reason - garage admit this is a known problem.

MaggieFS · 15/05/2021 22:37

Surely the performance is down to which engine or do they only offer one?

Seeline · 16/05/2021 10:12

Petrol engine only came in one size when I got mine (2014 plate).

AnnieSnap · 13/06/2021 20:02

The new model won’t be on the roads until late August. It looks stunningly well equipped. I have my eye one for when my trusty 6-year—old Renault Scenic Xmod becomes past it. It might be a while though as we have only been doing a low mileage with it and it’s a cracking car to drive, also tough (we were hit at speed on the front corner on a motorway and there was only a small amount of damage to the bumper), with great visability.

Barnowl25 · 14/06/2021 13:12

I love mine. The most comfortable car I have ever driven.

Shade17 · 14/06/2021 17:35

Check out Nissan’s more recent reliability scores. Older Nissans are great, not sure I’d want a new one!

Jennobop · 02/07/2021 19:58

I have the qashqai +2 model. I love it. Panoramic roof is an added bonus. We got it new in 2012 and have never had a problem with it

bouncydog · 06/07/2021 03:40

We hired one on holiday and it was truly awful. No power, poor visibility etc.etc. DH has a Nissan nv200 which is brilliant - very reliable and done c100k. Cheap to run etc and I think we were expecting similar - would never entertain buying a QQ.

Backhills · 07/07/2021 07:31

We had a slightly older 1.6 petrol and you felt like getting out to push at the slightest hill.

I'm not bothered at all about a fast car, currently have a 1 litre Fiesta, but my god that was sluggish.

Apparently the diesel is OK though.

It was fine for our family in terms of space.

Vroomed · 26/07/2021 12:18

Had one for holiday. Felt cramped. I normally drive a Skoda Octavia. I’m saying that my sister has one and parents have just bought one. It looks nice but didn’t think it was anything special. My Octavia is loads better with lots of room and big boot.

Bryonyshcmyony · 26/07/2021 13:51

Does it have a high driving position?
