So I think I've tried pretty much eveything and nothing leaves me smooth and completely hair free..

What's your favoured method of hair removal down below?

I just use veet to neaten and DH's hair clippers to trim he doesn't know

MascaraOHara · 27/07/2007 16:08

lol @ clippers.

Veet wax?

I prefer at least a brazilian.. I'm trying Nair at the minute but seem to end up patchy

i just shave

SixKindsOfCrisis · 27/07/2007 16:13

This is a question I'm too emabarrassed to ask in real life but here goes:
Attending to one's bikini line: I always thought that was something that you only had to do if you wanted to ape the lifestyle of a minor celebrity. But as I look around the swimming pool and see the total absence of tell-tale bits of lady garden creeping from the sides of swimming costumes I wonder whether it has become somewhat obligatory, like shaving under arms. What do you think?

MascaraOHara · 27/07/2007 16:18

I would never not tidy myself down there to be honest

MOH no veet cream

I tried NAir and, as DH put it, I ended up looking like a mangy fox (thanks for that)

Six - there's never ANY excuse for seeing a stranger's minge

MascaraOHara · 27/07/2007 16:19

glad it's not just me.. might swap from Nair to Neet

CountessDracula · 27/07/2007 16:21

just think
lovely new man may come along and be confronted with stubbly mangy minge argh

detoxdiva · 27/07/2007 16:27

doesn't waxing leave you smooth & hair free?

MamaG · 27/07/2007 16:28

I've never waxed anything

SixKindsOfCrisis · 27/07/2007 16:30

For legs I used one of those plucking machines that look like electric razors but actually tweeze all the hairs out. Hurts so much that I nearly weep.

foxinsocks · 27/07/2007 16:31

dear oh dear, what's wrong with a bit of hair there?

at regrowth

MascaraOHara · 27/07/2007 16:32

exactly CD

Just thought of waxing.. especially a hollywood

Epilady - really it doesn't hurst that much once you get used to it.

MascaraOHara · 27/07/2007 16:37

OUCH! @ the thought of an epilator on ya bits

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 27/07/2007 16:38

don't do it! - I am wincing on behalf of your bits .

CescaD · 27/07/2007 16:40

No really it's OK. And then a beard trimmer to tidy the remainder so you don't have a nether-mohican.

My sil even uses it under her arms, although must confess that's too hardcore for me.

SixKindsOfCrisis · 27/07/2007 16:40

Can we have a vote: who thinks you should tidy up Down There and who thinks not. I vote for the natural look.

lou33 · 27/07/2007 16:43

tidy vote from me

CountessDracula · 27/07/2007 16:44

tidy

CountessDracula · 27/07/2007 16:46

waxing doesn't hurt really
take some painkillers first
is fine after the first couple of times

LilRedWG · 27/07/2007 16:46

Tidy but not overly manicured.

CescaD · 27/07/2007 16:47

Tidy - but only if
a) you are being seen in swimwear
b) your partner is v. particular (like mine)
c) you are single

I did a straw poll of single male friends a while back and many admitted they would be less inclined to see a girl again if she has a great big hairy one. They also said that nearly all girls do tend to their bits nowadays.

Before that I had considered it slighly slutty and not what nice girls did, but realised it is actually the norm now.

The next question is what shape do you go for....

bookthief · 27/07/2007 16:53

I think it's a bit sad actually that there's yet another job to do that you didnt have to do before to be considered "neat" and "clean".

To answer six, I think it's obligatory now and considered a faux pas in the same range as underarm hair, possibly worse.

It puts me off going swimming frankly. I had a bit of a shave the other day so that I could take ds to the pool and the regrowth is horrid.

Extraordinary how in the space of, I would guess, 10 years or less it's gone from being considered completely weird to have a nekkid fanjo to being pretty much mainstream. Where did this come from????
