I want to treat myself to a really good new set of saucepans - any recommendations?

I have a motley collection of rather vile saucepans acquired over the years from various odd places, the nice ones we had for our wedding 12 years ago have pretty much had it

I would ideally like something with a stainless steel outside and non-stick inside. I don't want metal handles on the lids or metal handles as they both get hot! Must be dishwasherable

Anyone?

I think you can't beat Meyer Circulon saucepans. I have used one as my main saucepan for years and it is still going strong. Only thing is, they appear to do them with st. steel handles and lid knobs now which you say you don't want. John Lewis has one here

MintyDixCharrington · 18/07/2007 16:41

I have Lagostina stainless steel ones which have done 10 years and are still going strong (I'm a LEETLE bit bored of them however, hence my clicking on this thread...!)
No non-stick in this house either. The only thing that sticks is scrambled egg, and you can't make decent scrambled egg in a non-stick so non-stick is completely pointless in my view.....

I can only use potholders and teatowels from Williams Sonoma (go to the states once a year to buy in bulk) - do I win the superponcetastic award of the week?

MintyDixCharrington · 18/07/2007 16:42

sort of like this but different handles

CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 16:44

Swiss Diamond are the absolute best avilable, but £££!!

eleusis · 18/07/2007 16:46

Couldn't care less where my potholder come from (but I care if they match each other and prefreably the kitchen too).

Yes, Minty, you are definately poncier than I am.

Twinkie1 · 18/07/2007 16:46

Not le crueset I hate mine - DP thought he was being super nice buying me expensive saucepans that I can;t lift!!

eleusis · 18/07/2007 16:47

Why can't you make a decent scrambled egg in a teflon pan?

coddy · 18/07/2007 16:47

CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 16:48

coddy · 18/07/2007 16:50

eleusis · 18/07/2007 16:52

Oh, well what the Hell do you call them? padded things you use so you don't bur yourself on the pots/dishes.

I like these too, but not sure if you can get them here.

Calphalon

CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 16:52

no I don't want to!

I am not a nonce
I just think that spending a bit more for something really lovely that I will use all the time and will last a very long time is worth it
though I may get bored of them a la minty i guess

Maybe I should try argos

OP posts:
eleusis · 18/07/2007 16:54

You could have Minty's and she could get new poncy ones.

CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 16:54

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 16:55

BBBBasilisk · 18/07/2007 18:23

oh fuck - why don';t I get jokes on mumsnet?

I read it all too literal and then people 'duh' at me.

sulk.

anyway I have great pans that have copper bases that my dad had given to him at his wedding so christ knows why I am on this thread anyway as I have nothing to give or take.

MintyDixCharrington · 18/07/2007 22:08

GOD the Count is good! Wowza!

I'm keeping him to take with me on holiday next week CD. I'll chuck the exhausted, semi-lifeless but still strangely euphoric remains of him on a train back to West London a week on Saturday if that's OK with you....

potholders are NECESSARY if you have an Aga, m'dear

will peer at the All-Clad. After I've had another go at the Count
