I want to treat myself to a really good new set of saucepans - any recommendations?

I have a motley collection of rather vile saucepans acquired over the years from various odd places, the nice ones we had for our wedding 12 years ago have pretty much had it

I would ideally like something with a stainless steel outside and non-stick inside. I don't want metal handles on the lids or metal handles as they both get hot! Must be dishwasherable

Anyone?

eleusis · 18/07/2007 11:52

eleusis · 18/07/2007 11:52

CD! How does that work, do you get a rash, start sneezing, or just general nausea?

No, it is not finnish, it is norwegian.

The new Jamie Oliver ones are good and they are doing a deal on them in Macro at the moment.

florenceuk · 18/07/2007 11:55

my god this thread is long. Has anyone mentioned SKK - even Delia likes them. skk I have Brabantia stainless steel saucepans. Would buy a non-stick saute pan (SKK) and frypan (SKK) but stainless steel for everything else.

booge · 18/07/2007 12:07

As an aside I keep finding really good cookware for a bargain in TKMax, I go in for a skirt and come out with a frying pan.

childminderjanet · 18/07/2007 14:05

I spent ages looking for a new pan set and had decided price didn't matter(to a point). I really liked the look of these www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!11006_11007 but in the end I got a set from ASDA for £37.50 in the finest/best whatever they call it range and they are great so far. They are a set of 3 anodised/non stick with glass lids and metal handles that DON'T get hot. I bought then in November 2006 use them everyday and they still look like new. Definately worth a try.

CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 14:16

these look nice too

SKK pans are fab. They're non-stick, but the surface is indestructible - you can cook on as hot a temperature as you like and scrape them with metal utensils. Handles are plastic, but super-resistant plastic so you can put them in a hot oven . I've got the frying pan, but they do saucepans as well. There's a link to them on the DeliaOnline website.

Oh, and Williams-Sonoma, KerryMum - swoon!! Went to the shop in NY and stayed there for hours and hours, drooling... Never thought I could get turned on by a colander .

MrsBumblebee · 18/07/2007 14:21

Sorry florenceuk - cross post. Glad you like your SKK too!

eleusis · 18/07/2007 14:48

Yuk. LeCrueset. So yesterday. Not to mention the lids are not see through and there are only 3 pans... hardly a complete set.

Wisteria · 18/07/2007 15:11

Eleusis and I have 5 pans and don't care if I'm yesterday!

CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 15:31

well as I said earlier I am sorted for frying pans and a little saucepan
just need these three really

OP posts:
eleusis · 18/07/2007 15:41

Oh no. All my pans have to match. DH says I'm weird. And I say "You just noticed?".

CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 15:42

Have to match?? Why?
blimey you would't like my house nothing blimming matches!

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 15:43

What do you think would happen if tey didn't match?

omg do you have a three piece suite??

OP posts:
suzywong · 18/07/2007 15:44

do you remember those pan sets you bought in Woolies when you were a student in your first digs? They had enamel coatings outside and rustic french floral prints and they all matched. I had a set called "Carmague"

ah, happy simple days

saadia · 18/07/2007 16:00

We have the Meyer ones the too. If the quality of the stainless steel is good then they don't need to be non-stick. We have had these for seven years and they are still ok, very easy to clean even when things get burnt .

eleusis · 18/07/2007 16:15

Nope no 3 piece suite in my house.

I bet would like your house. I'm sure it's much nicer than mine.

CountessDracula · 18/07/2007 16:20

why do you think that!?
my saucepans don't match for starters...

Honestly I live in pretty normal house

OP posts:
eleusis · 18/07/2007 16:22

I live in crappy rented house in Sunbury. Want to swap?

cece · 18/07/2007 16:22

Hello to CD and everyone else in this thread - I have not read it though but at the words 'treat' and 'new saucepans' in the same sentence.
