Sorry thread hijack sort of.

Does anyone have a Mothercare Maui, and are they any good? Why do you like your friends Hauck Infinity so much kittypants?

We've got to make a decision before I run out of energy for pram shopping, and so far the Maui is top of the list but I'd like the opinion of someone who actually has one. (I've searched the net for reviews and can't find anything from owners.)

The reasons we like it:
The car seat fits onto the frame, not the pushchair.
Rear facing.
Looks sturdy enough to handle off road walking.

Things putting me off:
Lack of reviews.
We've only got a little car, so we'd have to take the rear wheels off it to fit it in the boot. It'll be extra hassle, but then as blokey pointed out, "some things about having a baby may be an inconvenience". Also other than the Loola, which we don't like, I can't find any prams that fold any smaller.

misdee · 04/05/2007 23:44

maui is rubbish, get an infinity.

ceolas · 04/05/2007 23:48

Trust misdee, she knows about all prams

hatrick is the Buzz huge to get in and out of the car?

I did consider it, but felt the wheels were very wide at the back

bilblio · 05/05/2007 00:11

I'd looked at the Quinny Buzz but it seemed expensive when I priced everything up, and I wasn't sure if the back wheels came off. I don't think any none umbrella folding pram will fit in my boot with the wheels on.

Any ideas which shops stock the Infinity so I can go and look at one? again the internet isn't being helpful,

bewilderbeast · 05/05/2007 00:13

do not get the quinny buzz unless oyu have an estate car or something with a massive boot and you have really strong fingers and three hands

its great out and about don't get me wrong but there are so many little bad points I'm sure there must be better prams

Kelly1978 · 05/05/2007 00:13

MISDEE, what car have you? I was thinking about putting the 7rh seat up in mine, as they keep havng play dates, but thinkign about buggy space.

twocatsonthebed · 05/05/2007 04:28

I was told by the bloke in our local pram shop that the Mothercare Maui was the Infinity, only without such nice colours. So we looked at the Maui in person, and then got an Infinity off eBay. We're pretty pleased with it, although the shopping basket is minute; but everything else is pretty good.

kelly i have a nissan tino, only have 3 kids and no play dates.

CarGirl · 05/05/2007 09:09

Tell me the bug is worth the extra money over the hauck - please?

misdee · 05/05/2007 09:11

yers it is. the hauck may look like a bug with its small front wheels, but the bug is so so much better.

there is the reversable handle as well as the seat being able to turn around,. basket is better, hood is better, raincover is better and its a lot sturdier. there is the terrain mode using the two big wheels, seat is higher and bigger, suspension is better.

could go on and on

CarGirl · 05/05/2007 09:13

Thank you - I'm really worried dh will go mad if he finds out how much it was - but if it can replace 3 other pushchairs than i should get away with it...............The sun cover is only £15 from twoleftfeet but don't know whether I can face ordering from them!

misdee · 05/05/2007 09:14

are you buying the red frog?

i have cameleon. love it

CarGirl · 05/05/2007 09:15

yes - not my favourite colour, but at least I can get a buggyboard to match!

MrsBadger · 05/05/2007 09:19

oh misdee I meant to tell you (you'll love this)

after MIL banging on and on about wanting to buy us a Proper Pram and how only Silver Cross would do she went to Helsinki for a weekend and sent me an email saying 'everywhere we went we saw these really lovely sturdy prams going over cobbles and through the snow, and I think you'd do better with one of those. I sat next to one in a cafe and wrote down the peculiar name...'

they were Emmaljungas of course

misdee · 05/05/2007 09:25

lol emmaljungas are brilliant. I snapped one up for £50 the other month and sold it straight on for £100 lol! of course i tried it out first
