Cargirl, do not order from twoleftfeet, really terrible company. If something os out of stock they take your money and customer service is rubbish. Took me 3 months to get a refund from them. loads of threads about them on here.

flightattendant · 05/05/2007 17:08

Which Emmaljunga is the best? I'm going to confess that I've currently got 9 pushchairs/prams, some of which are going to have to go...can't remember how many I've 'had' altogether since DS1 was born .
But none of them seems to be ideal and DS2 is due in 5 weeks! Never had an Emmal...

MrsBadger · 05/05/2007 17:14

Classic and Edge have the biggest and best-ventilated carrycots if you want to use them for overnight sleeping.

They are luverly but cost a fortune and weigh a ton, and you need a big boot.
Also no steering - compare the Bebecar Stylo , which has a nifty front swivel axel.

flightattendant · 05/05/2007 17:17

Excellent, thanks! I've had a look on ebay and they're all pick up only...anyone know a good courier that will do BIG prams, without too much wrapping?

lubyluby · 05/05/2007 17:28

the emmaljunga are def worth the money, most couriers will take them if wrapped well, i would say two boxes, one for chassis and one for the pram bit. payperdrop on ebay is dhl and good service from them.

re the infinity, i would only buy that if you liked the buggy, not if you are ,looking for a bug but don't want to pay bug prices. you will only be disapointed otherwise. but if you are buying an infinity ebcasue you liek the infinity then by all emasn go ahead, i can't criticise it as i have never had one.

bilblio · 05/05/2007 17:52

I'm thinking of a Maui/Infinity because my SIL has a bug and my parents think it's fantastic. I've worked out getting the basic things for the bug is £700, and I don't think any pram is worth that much. (My parents are buying it for me actually, but I'd rather save their money so they can spend it on something else )

I've phoned up the 2 place vaguely near me that sell the Infinity and one has closed their shop, the other hasn't got any in and will only get one for me to try if I'm definitely going to buy it "because people try them out then buy them online". Hmmm I'd never do that

She recommended the First Wheels City Elite which they have an offer on at the moment, so I'm trying to find out about that one now. Also the iCandy prams.

If only this child could be born walking, it'd save me a lot of brain ache.

mummy2aaron · 05/05/2007 18:24

bilblio the first whels is fab, a better cheap alternative to the bug t5han the infinity imo

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/05/2007 19:08

2nd hand bug frog with extras would prob. go for half that, biblio or are you against 2nd hand? Lots of bugs on ebay, they come up on mumsnet too at lot. Course if you want a chameleon that's more but aside from different cover & extendable handle what's the diff (misdee would know?)?

bilblio · 05/05/2007 19:22

I'm not against 2nd hand, but my parents are a bit internetphobic especially when buying expensive stuff.

Been looking at the city elite online and it looks very nice, has all the features I want, and after scouring the net I've found the dimensions without wheels and it should fit in my little Toyota Starlet.

The shop I phoned is selling the pram for £260 with the carrycot free so it's a good price too.

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/05/2007 19:37

Fair enough, biblio, glad you've found what you're after at the right price! Have you tried it out in the shop?

misdee · 05/05/2007 19:49

i dont know where you got the £700 figure from for a bugaboo, but if that includes all matching accesory which you dont actually need, then i can believe it. the gecko is the bugaboo basic option, and still includes pretty much everything, bar cosy toes and bag. that one is £469 at John lewis. the cameleon is RRp £599 and has a bit more with it and is bigger, adjutable handles, carry handle/bumper bar, more suspension, bigger hood etc. but i liked the gecko i picked up cheap to sell it on but dh preferred the cameleon, he wouldnt let me sell the cameleon and keep my bargain gecko

lookcook · 05/05/2007 20:17

bilblio - i've not read all of this thread and it looks like you have decided on a buggy, but just to let you know i got my bugaboo gecko brand new for about £390 from www.babytrader.eu

bilblio · 05/05/2007 20:22

The £469 price at john lewis is just for the gecko pram and carry cot. Everything else is extra, I consider basics to be footmuff, carseat & adaptors which add up to another £200.

I'd be able to get everything for the city elite for about £500, so I'm hoping there's no contest I'll have to see when I get to the shop next week

misdee · 05/05/2007 20:24

ah you see, i dont use pushchairs as travel systems, so to me thats not nesscery, but thats just IMO.

footmuffs can be found cheaper online, and dont have to be matching bugaboo. i like buggysnuggles on mine

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/05/2007 20:35

Biblio, had a look at the city elite, looks very nice, see what you mean. Only thought is whether the tyres are as good as the bug's, they look a little flimsy? Carseat adaptors may not be that useful, when it comes to it if it's anything like the bug as it takes soooo long to put them - I didn't buy them for mine as people on here were quite negative about them (misdee, what about you?). Although in theory it is great to plonk the car seat on it - I saw a guy struggling for half an hour with his bug last week by which time the baby was awake!

And you could get a really nice footmuff for the bug for much less elsewhere which might be funkier too! e.g. buggy snuggles. But not to dissuade you, it's just that if you really like the bug, you might regret buying an inferior version. It's the pushchair that matters in the long run not the extras/basics as you'll be pushing it around for years to come! If parents internet-phobic, use classifieds, if you're in London there will be loads for sale! If they like your sister's bug they shouldn't be too hard to persuade?

Just my tuppence-worth, feel free to completely ignore! As it is, I had a frog, now I have a mountain buggy so I clearly can't make up my mind...

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/05/2007 20:36

ooops, x-post misdee!

misdee · 05/05/2007 20:41

Accessorize

love MB as well, think they are great once baby outgrows rearfacing option (ie puts the brakes on when walking along like dd3 does)

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/05/2007 20:44

I hate to say it, but I still have the frog in the garage and I'm tempted to get it out when ds2 grows out of the mb carrycot so I can still gaze at his lovely face Rubbish, aren't I? I so love the mb for pushing tho, it wins hands down over the frog.

misdee · 05/05/2007 20:46

i dont blame you lol!

i have/had far too many, but have kept the bug the longest.

lookcook · 05/05/2007 20:49

i know everyone's needs are diff but i have often wondered why you would need to push a car seat around? i have seen people doing this around town while shopping but they can't be as comfortable as a carrycot?

misdee · 05/05/2007 20:49

thats my feelings as well lookcook.

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/05/2007 20:55

I must say I'm fonder of the bug now after not using it for 6 months or so, but it was useless for pushing once ds1 turned 2 and he's not a heavy child! Feel so embarrassed pushing around another expensive pushchair tho.

I agree too lookcook, but there have been several times in the last few months (ds2 is 5 months) that I would have loved to not have to wake him up to stick him in the carrycot! I can see the appeal, but it's so bad for their backs for longer than an hour to be in a carseat.

misdee · 05/05/2007 20:57

the first time i took the bug out i felt so self conscience that i was puishing around such an expensive item.

you do get used to it and i love the rear facing option. its so much eassier to see when dd3 is trying to shoplift

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/05/2007 21:00

I find people really stare at my mb more, funnily enough, I've never seen another one where I am. I just hate looking like such a posh person pushing £900 of pushchair about (mb+frog!). LOL at shoplifting dd3, how old??

misdee · 05/05/2007 21:03

she is 2.

what Mb do you have? urban or terrain?
