np - i have looked into bunks extensively.
and they are ALL pine
or metal
or vastly expensive.

came to conclusion having custom made bunks would be same price or cheaper than the not pine/metal ones.

but i can link to all the places i looked if that helps.

fwiw - i LOVE the metal ones from ikea which are also cheap. dp refused to have metal ones though [scowl]

Rhubarb · 04/05/2007 15:25

Ebay.

NappiesGalore · 04/05/2007 15:26

in fact i came up with an elaborate and extremely fun design for cabin types holes in wall with beds in for ds's... only to settle for lovely (but overpriced) bunks from Aspace. cant remeber why, something dp said

NappiesGalore · 04/05/2007 15:27

do you know anyone handy with a hammer?

my dad made ours when i was a kid. out of railway sleepers n stuff. railway sleepers were prob dirt cheap then

MrsBadger · 04/05/2007 15:28

how cheap's cheap?
these normally come in white as well as piney

these are reasonably priced too

ceolas · 04/05/2007 15:29

Aspace

They sent me a catalogue

Lovely, but indeed overpriced.

NappiesGalore · 04/05/2007 15:30

MrsBadger · 04/05/2007 15:31

look, even Argos have 'em in white

NappiesGalore · 04/05/2007 15:31

you think theyre bad - check out the childrens furniture comapny!

nailpolish · 04/05/2007 15:32

i would quite like white

dd2 has a metal bed that was a bastard to put up - i promised dh i would never buy a metal bed again

i like the ikea one MrsB - dd1 wouldnt lke the dark wood tho. i will investigate to see whther they have white, thanks

that ikea one is nicer than argos

i am probably a snob but i never really like argos

MrsBadger · 04/05/2007 15:34

Wow, Nappies, they even The Kids' Window (£855) for most expensive bunks ever!

nailpolish · 04/05/2007 15:35

i dont know anyone who is capable of making one unfortunately

MrsBadger · 04/05/2007 15:36

I didn't think I liked ARgos either, the triend to find a plain reasonably priced white bedside table and chest of drawers...
this range sanded, knotted, primed, two coats of white eggshell and some new knobs

lush

nailpolish · 04/05/2007 15:38

MrsB that is very interesting

when we move house we will need bedroom furniture for both dds - just now they have it all built in so therefore we cant take it

thank you!

are bunk beds ok for a 4yr old on top and a 2yr old underneath?

OP posts:
JackieNo · 04/05/2007 15:44

MrsB - that link to the expensive bunks - the £855 doesn't even include mattresses (£195 each ).

nailpolish · 04/05/2007 15:45

they are niiiiiiiiiiiiice tho jackie, eh?!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 04/05/2007 15:47

Yes, but not £855 nice, imo. (sorry - not really contributing anything positive to this thread).

nailpolish · 04/05/2007 15:50

jackie dont be

so

if i buy the argos one will be mattresses be crap?
dd1 has a good mattress i could transfer to the bunk beds but i need another one obv to go on top bunk (dd2 has a crap mattress atm)

and i could buy the bedroom furiture linked by mrsB and paint it white

?

OP posts:
bonkerz · 04/05/2007 15:53

we have these and they are now 4 years old and absolutely fine! Still sturdy and my 2 have slept on them since they were 3 and 4

nailpolish · 04/05/2007 15:55

BONKERZ

could i paint them white? dd1 really wants white and im not a fan of pine either

OP posts:
nailpolish · 04/05/2007 15:56
