NP, i will be moving my 4 yo into top bunk soon. 2 yr old on the bottom. Our budget is very small and i also want them to be low down. All i have found so far is the shorty bunk from argos but have concerns over the steps. DS1 slept in the bottom of a bunk like this on hols last year and when he tried to go up the steps to the top it hurt his feet!

nailpolish · 04/05/2007 16:49

i just figured it would be like going up the steps of a chute, dd1 can do taht no probs

but i suppose they dont ahve shoes on when going to bed!

i still think she will be ok tho

I have just been checking my favs and I was also looking at the J white woodenbunks on the francesshunt site and they are really nice and the price for them is 275

NappiesGalore · 04/05/2007 16:59

re ladders and comfort - yeah, i reckon flat ladder steps are much easier on bare feet. not absolutely neccessary for little people (they dont weigh much do they) but a nice thing i would imagine

nailpolish · 04/05/2007 16:59

MFI do some nice bunkbeds for £200. My dd1 really wants one but i am too scared of her falling to get one !! to be fair she falls down from her single bed at least once a month.

bonkerz · 04/05/2007 20:13

The beds at ikea can be painted. MIne are white now too. We put standard mattresses on for old beds and they fit fine.

NappiesGalore · 05/05/2007 09:09

oi mapleleaf

mapleleaf · 05/05/2007 16:04

she hates bed guards. says they make her feel closed in. did i mention she is a very high maintenance child ?

mapleleaf · 05/05/2007 16:05

but thanks for the suggestion :-)
