SEA it was this one I think. MDF rather than real wood. But the reason I'm slightly hesitant, is that it doesn't show any reviews, whereas mine had about 5 pages of people saying how it was the only one they's found that didn't slip & where the hinges didn't degrade. It was at least a couple of years ago, so I'm worried they may have altered the design. They used to do different colours of MDF, because our downstairs one is mahogony coloured.

SEA, what the hell are you doing on those toilet seats?

southeastastra · 27/04/2010 19:09

link didn't work but i will have a look, it's annoying that you can't see before you buy

it would be funny mytwopence (do you remember when it was 2p to use the loo ) but it's seriously annoying now! the hinges just snap, i think they're degrading from boy wee

No. I remember when it was 10p. and in certain seaside places, 20p. Bastards.

I do remember when public phoneboxes took 2ps though.

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 27/04/2010 19:15

erm. to make a phonecall, not to piss in

Although, by the smell of them...

southeastastra · 27/04/2010 19:19

Here's a black one that has some reviews implying it lasts better than the usual ones.

The one I tried to link to earlier was pine coloured here - no reviews, but looks the same as the black one.

They're on offer too - they were about £30 two years ago, so I reckon it's a genuine offer.

southeastastra · 28/04/2010 14:08

will get dp to buy the pine coloured one you've linked. this time i will keep receipts etc! the fittings look white from your link, the problem seems to be chrome hinges. thanks

I hate to say this but after 30 odd years of unsatisfactory loo seats, my mother has now given up and hasn't used one in years. She's much happier now

southeastastra · 28/04/2010 14:18

well i may have to join her soon rockbird and abandon my search for the holy grail of loo seats it isn't half cold sitting on a bare loo though

What about keeping the old seat and just buying new fittings, I'm sure bathroom shops must just sell the fittings on there own for high class thrown rooms?

I for one wouldn't mind paying £10+ for the fittings and sticking them on an old seat if they last a good amount of time.

elliemental · 29/04/2010 11:29

so pleased to learn it's not just the men in my life who have corrosive pee....

Seona1973 · 29/04/2010 12:31

I have just bought one like this although it was from homebase. It is all plastic with no metal fittings at all. I will let you know how it lasts though!

southeastastra · 29/04/2010 17:28

the fittings seem to be the prob and all the ones i can find are the same as the ones that snap.

that looks good senora - dp went out and got the argos slow close one. the fittings are different so fingers (or legs) cross
