Theres a long story behind me wanting this chair. I work hard and have been saving the money for a while and now that it comes to the crunch I'm feeling guilty at the thought of how many nappies/clothes and toys I could buy the dc with that money!

My childhood was bleak and there was no money for any luxuries (food was considered a luxury even)which perhaps makes me want this even more it would be a constant reminder of how far we have come!

I've always dreamt of having something that would be an heirloom for me to hand down and I had my heart set on this. The chair really is not to everyones taste so thought it best not to post a link to it here

suzywong · 23/02/2006 15:29

not my cup of tea, but if you want it get it and get on with it

WeepingRicotta · 23/02/2006 15:30

Wot no remote control pocket or mini-fridge?

krabbiepatty · 23/02/2006 15:30

I sesne danger, you will buy thsi chair and it will not live up to your expectations. It will not make you happy and eradicate your grim childhood. Beware of this chair.

farTooAshamedToAdmitMyName · 23/02/2006 15:30

Oh god. You are my little devil NP!

flutterbee · 23/02/2006 15:30

It doesn't matter what it's like and whether we like it or not. You have wanted it for 6 years and have saved for it, get the damn thing and feel happy and smug everytime you sit in it or look at it knowing that you have worked hard for your fab peice of furniture that you can give to your children when they are older.

krabbiepatty · 23/02/2006 15:31

For that money you could go to that funny shop in Wigmore street with the swedish orthopaedic chairs which really might make a person happy.

doormat · 23/02/2006 15:31

very star trekky imo
do they have any other colours as the mustard is horrible

WeepingRicotta · 23/02/2006 15:31

Or buy this one and send Hunkermunker the change

mythumbelinas · 23/02/2006 15:32

it doesn't massage your body .. will it massage your heart??

Flossam · 23/02/2006 15:32

Not for me but can see why you would like it.

krabbiepatty · 23/02/2006 15:32

Ektorp - who could live with a chair called ektorp, is like something extruded by an Alien.

podkin · 23/02/2006 15:34

Beware the chair...

hovely · 23/02/2006 15:34

it is beautiful
is def a design classic
is probably in the design museum (altho I have never been there)
it has a very deep seat so unless you have long legs you will have to lie down in it with your knees sticking out

madmarchhare · 23/02/2006 15:35

I think its horrid, but if you have wanted for so long and it will make you happy for the rest of your life, then go ahead.

Anyway, whats wrong with this ?

Mazzystar · 23/02/2006 15:35

oh god, yeah, buy it.

farTooAshamedToAdmitMyName · 23/02/2006 15:35

DM, the tan colour is the one I'd want. WR, I know this is what I keep doing, looking at cheaper ones and then considering treating the kids with the rest.

OP posts:
suzywong · 23/02/2006 15:36

how will you feel when the kids crayon on it though

farTooAshamedToAdmitMyName · 23/02/2006 15:37
Shock

kitegirl · 23/02/2006 15:38

Ektorp sounds like a disease

get the chair - you can always flog it if you regret it later!

mousiemousie · 23/02/2006 15:38

certainly wouldn't be my choice but I'm sure you can make up your own mind! You can choose your own priorities, and that will be right for you, just do it!

doormat · 23/02/2006 15:38

ftatamn if you like it,
go for it

WeepingRicotta · 23/02/2006 15:38

Treat the kids?

Nooo! Hunker's a far more worthy cause.

Buy a Poang or three from Ikea.

And send me the change.
