Help me avoid social suicide - which brand of tea should I buy?

I don't drink tea, so can't judge which are decent/not - which brand(s) should I have in the house for when tea-drinkers pop over (I wouldn't want to be the person known for her terrible tea)? + is there anything I need to know about any brands, is there a "News of the World" equivalent of the tea brands I need to avoid?

hunkermunker · 06/11/2005 00:18

Just don't let the ferrets near it. Weak-bladdered little buggers

Angela2005 · 10/11/2005 00:40

Come on then Mrs Fogi, we have to know what you decided!!

eldestgirl · 10/11/2005 06:38

In defence of Earl Grey - it's lovely!
Clipper organic EG for me with a spot of skimmed milk in a thin porcelain mug.

MrsFogi · 10/11/2005 23:15

Angela2005, I must admit I haven't taken the plunge yet (luckily haven't had anyone over for tea either!) - I have a feeling I'm going to have to get a few and offer a choice as there's no way I'm going to be able to decide after all this advice! Clearly there are no easy answers in the world of tea drinking.

Twinings Earl Grey.
Heaven

I keep on forgetting that other people don't like it though. Gave it to a friend's new bloke onceand she told me that in the sar on the way home he said 'God that Moondog is a slattern. She doesn't even wash her cups out properly. The one she gave me still had washing up liquid in it.'

How we larfe.>

lunachic · 10/11/2005 23:54

another vote for clipper organic cant go wrong with it !

Linnet · 11/11/2005 00:22

I like Scottish Blend. I don't like Tetleys, although if offered a cup of tea and it was Tetleys I'd drink it. My granny uses Nambarrie tea bags which I'm not very keen on but again I drink it if given a cup.

I'm terrible at making tea it never tastes right if I make it but Dh makes a lovely cup of tea

Tinker · 11/11/2005 00:24

I'm obviously common since love PG Tips. But, only the way I make it - no-one else can get it right. Earl Grey = pointless yuk!

Angela2005 · 11/11/2005 22:48

Oh dear, poor MrsFogi! Get a fair trade selection at least, then you can be known as the person who has ethical tea!!
