Hollywood waxes - male and female opinions

Jomummy1013 · 06/02/2023 12:08

Hey, what are the general consensus on the above? I've had Hollywood waxes for a good few years now. I like the cleanliness of it and my partner likes it. My friend however has said she thinks only strange paedo type men would like this, I completely disagree. She hasn't had a partner for years so these are her feelings with no one else's input. What do others think? I would never say a man who likes it is strange.

Everyone has their own preference regarding hair on any part of their body. Nobody is right or wrong, just do what you want with your own hair and don’t judge others with they want to do with their hair - head, armpits, legs, wherever! There is no consensus, let people do what they want to do with their own body.

Iwantmybed · 06/02/2023 12:16

I like mine. Only started getting waxed in my 40s, started off as bikini then Brazilian then Hollywood. I much prefer all off to anything else and yes, I do it for me. DH likes it but doesn't mind hair as long as it's neat and he can see what he's doing 😉.

Jomummy1013 · 06/02/2023 12:55

@jacult yeah I guess consensus isn't the right word to use ❤️
Each to their own of course.
I guess I just felt like I was a bit weird for having it as my friend said she thinks only men who like little girls would like it. X

@Iwantmybed I only started getting mine done in my mid to late thirties. I don't think I would ever want pubes again now 😂
I used to shave it all off before started waxing but that would be itchy and you get horrible ingrowns!

I only went for the lot off about 5 years ago (I'm mid 40s) and I much prefer it. I feel cleaner. My pines are also going grey which I find REALLY unattractive so I'd rather it all gone.
Every person I've slept with since prefers hairless

Eyerollcentral · 06/02/2023 13:01

Yeah I think most people would agree with your friend. I don’t see why you are canvassing opinion on this though, it’s nothing to do with anyone else?

Lollypop701 · 06/02/2023 13:06

each to their own, but an adult woman’s body looks nothing like a child’s body and to insinuate that men who like hair free are peodos is insulting. Oh and I’m not hair free!

strof · 06/02/2023 13:10

I prefer women hair free .I like myself to be hair free but had mixed reactions to my lack of hair.
A bit of negotiation is needed with my next long term partner

Back21970 · 06/02/2023 13:11

I’m in my late 50’s and have never had a wax, is this now the norm?

I’m newly single and contemplating the dating scene for the first time in 15 years so be good to know!

I can’t think of anything worse than waxing, apart from the pain it’s the ongoing cost too.

If men are now expecting this I think my search for a new one is going to take a while 😂

GoldDuster · 06/02/2023 13:14

It's a porn led thing, where anal gang rape is now more normalised than a hairy bush, which is now a specific fetish.

Not good, not something you need to join in with.

I'm in my late 50s too and recently divorced .I prefer hair free but it's not a deal breaker .there's a hell of a lot more to consider than pubes by a long way .
Person before pubes 😂

DillDanding · 06/02/2023 13:23

This has been done to death on here. You’ll get people citing porn, paedophilia and saying they don’t want to look like a 10 year old - ad nauseam.

Fwiw, I’ve been getting a Hollywood wax for at least 15 years. Love how it looks, really love how it feels. If the changing rooms at my gym are anything to go by, being pube-less is definitely the norm rather than the exception.

StarlightLady · 06/02/2023 13:31

I've been "all off" since my late teens (now in my 40s) when it was less popular than now, but still practiced by many. I can't remember what I look like, looking in the mirror, with pubic hair. I've gone from Veet, to shaving, to waxing and back again as sometimes I get fed up with the re-growth which you need to do with waxing, where as you can shave in the shower daily.

It is very much a personal thing but the OP's friends comments about thinking only strange paedo type men would like this, are, in my view, way of beam. I assume the same would apply if her friend shaved her underarms, her legs or her male partner shaved his face. Would that make him look like a boy. It's not about what men would like anyway. Some lesbians remove all their hair too. Others just feel better that way.

My figure (36F cup) and especially my vulva look nothing like that of a child.

DivaDroid · 06/02/2023 13:53

I just trim with hair clippers with no guard (specially bought for pube trimming)
No complaints as yet 🤷‍♀️ & I've been doing it this way for 20 odd years (am 40)
Hate clean shaven regrowth & can't hack the pain of waxing 😂

RunningFromInsanity · 06/02/2023 14:04

I started all off waxing in my late 20s and it’s so much better, I feel cleaner, and no itchy shaving regrowth. I do a lot of swimming so it’s more convenient for me too.

No idea what my sexual partners preferences are as I never ask. If they don’t like it they don’t have to have sex with me. Funnily enough, no man has ever decided against it.

And trust me, I don’t look anything like a prepubescent girl.

lauraUK1000 · 06/02/2023 14:16

Similar to @StarlightLady and @DivaDroid I started shaving in my teens and by 18 it was all gone. My hair down there was particularly itchy, scratchy and like wire so it was just far more comfortable without and also so it was not sticking out of underwear. Now 39 and I've been removing it all since, shaving then waxing for a long time and now all removed by laser.

My DH had been shaving, trimming and waxing also and also recently started to get it removed by laser. He left a patch on top but the rest, balls, shaft, sides, underneath should all be completely smooth in another few laser sessions.

We both prefer no or very neat pubic hair on each other and we both say it feels much more comfortable generally.

MudLady · 06/02/2023 14:31

I get ingrown hairs really badly so I don't wax at all now, & have never tried waxing there! I prefer a pubic hair trimmer as it's comfortable & I really CBA with daily maintenance or making expensive appointments. DH isn't bothered how I have it - my body, my choice. I tried shaving for a while, strangely it felt too warm, especially in summer.

He leaves his as nature intended.

Mainly cos I was wondering if I am a weirdo for having it done, and I wanted any male opinion's as I have only ever asked my partner and he doesn't think it's a paedoish, I'm curious about others' viewpoints x

Oh really, tbh I did read a few but I didn't see any where people were wondering if men are weird and have paedo tendencies for liking it. It didn't even occur to me that a man may think that way until my friend said it 😳 x

Whenever women say that hair removal makes women look prepubescent, I want to tell them to go to the doctors if their body is still prepubescent other than the hair!

I go between waxing and shaving it all off. My partner (both women) prefers to trim hers. I don't have a preference for my partners, and I wouldn't change what I do for a partner either.

Yeah her viewpoint made me feel a bit odd! My body is definitely nothing like a pre pubescent child in any way 😂 xx I was of the viewpoint that men would find it sexy but then she gave me a different spin on it

Didn't think about it this way, yes does the same apply if men shave their facial hair, and if we shave our armpits etc? She shaves her armpits etc. She said she doesn't do anything with downstairs. I prefer it for cleanliness, I like the feeling of it. When I started getting it done, I was recently out of a marriage breakup and not with anyone. I did it for me. But I wouldn't go back now, can't imagine having pubes! X 😂

I’ve always kept my hair and trimmed when necessary, what’s the upsides to having a wax would people say?

I always used to trim it down before I started waxing. For me, I prefer it during a period or after having sex, less messy 😂
