Ive come off the mini pill so we will be using condoms.
whenever I've seen them in boots they seem to be £££ for about 3 of them.

Which brands do you recommend?
Is own brand as good as the branded more expensive ones?

Should i buy online in bulk? I'm seriously hoping i get my sex drive back

I'm happy to buy from the high st or supermarkets.

I've just come back from the Drs and there was a sign on the wall saying they don't hand them out any more (never knew they did) but it might be worth asking at your gp or local sexual health clinic as I think you can get them for free though I doubt they'd be the textured/ribbed variety Blush

AndNowItsSeven · 07/10/2016 11:31

Trojan with spermicide - from US amazon, it's the leading brand there and I like the fact they have spermicide.

MadAsABagOfCats · 07/10/2016 11:31

We always used durex. There is a safety standard mark to say they reach a certain safety test standard. Some of the online discount websites sell in bulk. If you want a cheaper longer term solution you could speak with the Family Planning Association or your GP about other barrier methods.

If you have a savers near you they are really cheap from there.

I'm presuming savers is national not northern.

ihatethecold · 07/10/2016 11:57

I don't have a Savers near me i think.

Ocado have some good offers on so i might get then with my weekly shop i think.

We used to get Durex in poundland, £1 for a pack of 3. Failing that home bargains surprisingly has Mates brand think it was £3 or something like that for 12.

Proudmummytodc2 · 07/10/2016 13:49

When we used condoms we swore by the skins ones we couldn't use forex as DH allergic to something in them but skins were really good and they do big massive boxes too!

ihatethecold · 07/10/2016 14:33

I don't trust buying condoms from discount stores.
There is no way i want an unwanted pregnancy, Ive got 3 already and 2 grandkids!

We use skyn condoms. I'm allergic to durex.

Yes they are expensive, but they are cheaper than having a child lol

DrDreReturns · 07/10/2016 15:00

I used to like Mates back in the day when I used condoms (I've since had a vasectomy). They felt more sensitive than durex.

NotTheFordType · 07/10/2016 20:06

IME Durex are the most likely to break.

Is your partner an average size? If he's larger or smaller than average, using the correct size will help reduce chance of breakage and feel better for both of you.

If average, I prefer Skyns non latex.

If small, I'd recommend Pasante Trim.

If large, I'd go for Skins XL.

If REALLY large I'd go for Pasante King size.

I like to buy mine here as it's a good price, discreet packaging, and you're supporting the NHS.

Poundland sell Durex condoms, 3 for £1 :)

RedTitsMcGinty · 07/10/2016 20:37

Skyn. Really good - waaaay better than Durex.

Abominablebride · 07/10/2016 20:41

Skyn loads cheaper on Amazon

Mrswinkler · 07/10/2016 21:43

Christ, don't buy ones with spermicide, well known irritant.

"Condoms with spermicide
Some male condoms come with spermicide on them. Spermicide is a chemical that kills sperm. These condoms are slowly being phased out, as research has found that a spermicide called nonoxynol 9 does not protect against STIs such as chlamydia and HIV, and may even increase the risk of infection. It is best to avoid using spermicide-lubricated condoms, or spermicide as an additional lubricant." (NHS)

AndNowItsSeven · 07/10/2016 21:54

Spermicide is not recommended by the Nhs as condoms are more commonly used by people with multiple partners.
If you are monogamous it is better to use spermicide the prevent pregnancy.
