am being calm but every so often panic strikes me - ds is fine about it, it's just me fretting about roads to cross/ money for the canteen - will it get lost/stolen, what about the lockers, arghhh ! Plus,as with the beginning of every term,I'll miss him - I love having him here in the holidays !
It also means that I have no excuses not to sit at my desk and work on the job I'm meant to finish by the end of Seot...

I think I might take a bottle of red actually roisin I have a lot of very scary tattooed mothers to compete with - if I have to turn up in my work clothes sounding posh I can at least make the effort to seem dysfunctional in some way

Oh bad bad naughty orm.... what terrible assumptions to make about your fellow parents..... (but it's true!)

roisin · 01/12/2008 18:20

at school trips to NHM.

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 01/12/2008 18:43

at Orm ! yes,ds is a lucky boy to be going there !

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 02/12/2008 16:11

waiting for him to come home now...hope he got me a blue whale card ! btw he is learning a non- Disney song at singing lessons - Mairi's Wedding - very jolly !

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 02/12/2008 17:28

home safely but no card !

magentadreamer · 02/12/2008 18:00

did he have a good time MAS?

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 02/12/2008 18:04

yes, I think so - he was going on about everything he saw from the coach (passing through our old stomping grounds in W London !)

roisin · 02/12/2008 19:08

We've just survived parents' evening: phew!
The organisation was good, and everything seemed to run smoothly.
Loads of fab things said from lots of different teachers/subjects about ds1's attitude, effort and achievement, so am now very, very proud mum

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 02/12/2008 19:18

ahh - that's great roisin !

magentadreamer · 02/12/2008 22:12

I can imagine you are one proud Mum Roisin. We have DD's tutor meeting tomorrow -still not too sure what we'll chat about for an hour! I did ask DD tonight if there was anything she felt the need to "share" before we met her form tutor but thankfully she said not.

OrmIrian · 03/12/2008 09:43

Well done young Roisin

We are going in tomorrow and I suspect it won't be quite so glowing Love my big lad but school isn't his trump card....

bellaBuonNatalevita · 03/12/2008 09:45

Well done roisin's ds

DS1 going to The Deep next week - aquatic museum, which he is looking forward to.

We have apple cake tonight (hope it arrives in one piece) - it is very, very icy (all compacted) here from yesterday.

In fact (not so lucky for DS) but the other bus did not turn up yesterday as the weather was bad so some of the children here did not go to school.

DS not happy with me that I said if his bus did not come I would drive him in

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 03/12/2008 10:53

great Christmas name bellavita !
I despair of my boy - today is freezing yet he refused to wear his new easily fold-uppable coat to school..he is in a polyester blazer- no gloves, no scarf...I stuffed it in his bag anyway, see if I care...

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 03/12/2008 10:54

hope apple cake is nice an in one piece btw

bellaBuonNatalevita · 03/12/2008 11:46

christMAS - thought I had better use some of my italian heritage!

Ds's coat is absolutely filthy from yesterday when he decided to do snowball fights before actually telling me he was off the bus and in the street.

I was beginning to worry because it was 4.20 and rather dark - but no, he did not bother about that - just his own needs as per usual.

roisin · 03/12/2008 18:18

OOh apple cake
That sounds scrummy: I love apple cake.

I'm impressed at ds1's school's marketing. They do a big christmas concert which is very popular (perf arts school). Performers' families get first priority and tickets sell out very fast.

The concert is at 7.30 and you sit round tables and eat mince pies and so on.
But you can only book your table number at the Christmas Fayre which is 6.45-7.30

And under the slip to order your tickets there is also a slip to inform them if/what you'll be providing a prize for the raffle/tombola/bottle stall!

I think it's a canny way of optimising fundraising opportunities. Hats off to them.

magentadreamer · 03/12/2008 22:31

Apparently DD is a hardworking, interested motivated child who will comfortably meet her end of year targets I am rather proud and relieved after hearing that this evening at DD's form tutor meeting - she has two tutors one said she was really sweet! I didn't like to ask how much DD had bribed him to say that! I remember all to well her teachers comments last year where it was put that she wasn't motivated and put in as little effort as she could. Her yr6 teacher predicted rather a bleak High School career for her.

roisin · 04/12/2008 02:12

That's great magentadreamer - she was obviously ready for a new change/challenge at high school! Some teachers say some daft things, don't they?
ds1 had a nursery teacher when he was 4 who predicted a bleak school career for him, at that tender age!
She said he would probably be a late reader and would be unable to do phonics ... She hadn't noticed that he was actually reading pretty fluently at that time!

In my evil moments I imagine writing to her to tell her how he's excelled in so many ways in his school career.

OrmIrian · 04/12/2008 09:52

Hurray for young magenta!

I am dying to let you know what they say about DS#1 tomorrow. I predict the words 'bright but unmotivated' may be spoken, or even 'laidback', and certainly 'could do well if he made some effort'. I'd put money on it .

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 04/12/2008 10:35

excellent news about junior magenta -hooray !

bellaBuonNatalevita · 04/12/2008 10:44

Well done magenta's dd

I have DS1 at home today - no school bus!

and I have to take DS2 in at 11.00 - this time was pre-arranged yesterday so it gave all the teachers time to get into work (bloody snow).

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 04/12/2008 10:47

no snow here, just cold and wet...but ds did wear his coat,no choice ! the 2 other boys were wearing theirs which helped

bellaBuonNatalevita · 04/12/2008 10:49

Where are you MAS?

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 04/12/2008 10:57

in Hampshire - where are you ?

bellaBuonNatalevita · 04/12/2008 10:59

In a village about 7 miles from York.

Not sure if I have been to Hampshire or not, we used to live in Berkshire. I did many a trip to the huge Marks and Spencers at Camberley - is that Hampshire?
