Which A-level to drop - French or English Lit?

DD is applying to 6th form colleges. She wants to do 4 levels but two of the colleges say she can only take 3 (not happy about that but that's a different issue).

DD is not sure what she wants to do after college, so has chosen Maths to keep her options open.

Her choices are:

Music (non-negotiable)
Maths
French
English Lit

Which one should she drop? She can't decide between French and English Literature.

I thought I'd update you all on the conclusion (for now), as you've all been so helpful.

DD has decided to stick to the 3 original subjects (Music, French, English Lit).
Luckily for me, there was no need to try and tactfully try to talk her out of Maths as a first choice!

For college 1 (her favourite and not offering Core Maths at all) she'll go to the taster day/offer holder day in July and see how she feels about adding Maths after having done her actual GCSE exam.

For college 2, she's added Core Maths as a 4th A-level, which she can always drop.

Thanks very much everybody for all the comments. It's been a very useful and lively thread! 😊

I hope your daughter has a great time and gets her preferred college choice 🤞

@stickygotstuck Well done! She will enjoy what she's chosen. She's certainly got a number of degrees she could do with this combination if she wishes too. Very solid subjects!
