All good passes here including 9 in A level subjects. Phew!

Zanatdy · 22/08/2024 08:59

Just waiting to go to school for 9.30. Dd expected to do very well and she’s worked so hard, but she’s very nervous now. Just want to get these results in hand

OvaHere · 22/08/2024 09:00

Good luck to everyone's DC's today. It barely seems 5 minutes since DS was collecting results last year. I remember the nerves well.

MabelMaybe · 22/08/2024 09:02

@DramaLlamaBangBang 4s and 5s are fine grades, just probably not for A Levels. He'll find his place yes, and should hold his head up high, but you know that, even if he doesn't, right now.

TeenLifeMum · 22/08/2024 09:04

Annoyed I have meetings until 10am and dd gets results at 9.30 but she’s promised to send a photo and I’ll call as soon as I’m off meetings. She’s worked so so hard I’m just really hoping it’ll show in her results. Mocks were a bit of a mix.

FUCK ME!!! STRAIGHT NINES HERE!!!!

Had to post here as I’m banned from sharing anywhere else until she’s told all the people she needs to tell

I can’t believe it. I knew she would do well but never this week.

just had a moment with a photo of my Deceased mum and grandma and sobbing like a baby alone in the house as DH is in the office today.

Absolutely brilliant!!!!

Really makes you miss people doesn't it? You must be so proud of your daughter xx

RunningAndSinging · 22/08/2024 09:08

DD did amazingly including some suprise grades higher than expected but is upset over a few that were lower than expected. Nightmare over accessing the portal and got her results by phone in the end - a very stressful start. Now working out all the grade boundaries and she was very close for the main disappointments so may go for a remark.

High drama but we are so proud of her. Now off to work but out for dinner this evening.

good luck to everyone still waiting

stopscrollingandgettowork · 22/08/2024 09:08

Five 4s
and two btec passes here

appointment at 1 pm for college to see what happens next .

its about what we thought she would get.

praying it’s enough to get her onto the level 3

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 22/08/2024 09:15

All good here, 9s in his A level subjects so feel relieved about him moving on with those. Eng Lit lower than expected though which we might review.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 22/08/2024 09:16

Well done to everyone's DCs just getting through this stressful year. Good luck to those waiting to see if they can move on to heir college choices.

Yes he gas an interview for A Levels at college, but called and spoke to them about doing a vocational course as an alternative. A couple of his friends are going to college too.

TheSweetestHalleluja · 22/08/2024 09:18

4's are equivalent to a C grade or standard pass aren't they? This would have been considered a brilliant result in my old school (going back a couple of decades now admittedly!)
Are kids today under pressure to get higher than 4's now if they want to go on to further education? That doesn't seem fair somehow.

Wife2b · 22/08/2024 09:18

Reassurance to those with young people gotten less than expected. I got the equivalent of 4s and 5s at GCSE, didn’t do great in my a-levels either but now have a 2:1 undergraduate degree and a first masters degree. Some simply don’t flourish at GCSE and that’s ok! 🙂

JessyCarr · 22/08/2024 09:19

DD has done well with a string of 9s and 8s so is comfortably into 6th form. It’s a bit of a mixed picture at school, though, with some tough results and close friends not having made their conditional offers. Congratulations to all those celebrating, and thinking also of those for whom this morning brings disappointment.

Midnightstar76 · 22/08/2024 09:20

@BlackBean2023 well done to your DD great set of results!

Gunnersforthecup · 22/08/2024 09:20

Sitting outside the school now...

anoukis · 22/08/2024 09:23

999888665 and A in Additional Maths.

We're happy apart from English where she got 6 and 5. She hated her English teacher and this showed. Art is fine at 6, reflective of her slacking for her portfolio in year 10.

shams05 · 22/08/2024 09:24

Waiting for D's to come out with his, he's been inside 20 minutes. I know he was worried about English, just hope the rest are good.

listsandbudgets · 22/08/2024 09:25

Non for my children but my nephew .. expeted to do very well but we will see

Also Ukranian boy who has been living with us since April 2022. He only started learning English then but sat his exams having worked extremely hard. I think he will do well given the limitations but frankly we are dead proud if him just for sitting them at all

Everything crossed for them both. DD got A leve results last week so a bit of a roller coaster here

Muchtoomuchtodo · 22/08/2024 09:25

No sign of DS even waking up yet 🙄

TinfoilTangerine · 22/08/2024 09:29

DS done well but less than mocks and on some less than predicted - looking at you drama. Weirdly overperformed in maths and got 9. He is a bit deflated but ok. A couple are a couple of marks off the higher grade boundaries but he doesn't want to review.

DominoRules · 22/08/2024 09:29

Mostly happy here!! All really good but he was disappointed by English Lit - got a 5 after 2 comfortable 7s in his mocks. 3 marks off a 6 so maybe we should ask for a remark?? Got an 8 for English Lang though so overall good!!

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 22/08/2024 09:31

Ours aren't until 10. Lovely DD is the most hardworking kid you could meet, she has to be to overcome her learning disabilities.
God I hate this!

😂 sorry this made me laugh. Dd only left 10 minutes ago (I’m not allowed to go with her) and it’s a 20 minute walk. She didn’t want to have to speak to other students outside her friends so is turning up a bit late. Gah they’re frustrating 😂

Darkbutstarrynight · 22/07/2024 08:48

I have been lurking on here as DD just finishing year 10.....but she has sadly starred self-harming which we believe is due to the pressure of up-coming exams. Sorry to jump on, but I wondered if any if you had such issues and NY suggestions you has for helping to manage the stress? Thanks in advance....

Horrible time, horrid atmosphere, not sending you stupid hugs, but telling you it will be over and you will survive through all of this - my own experience, due to stress, severe nose bleeds, crushing headaches and inability to sleep because of exams. Nothing helped until it was over. Tried meds, etc., but it will be over. But it will be over at some point.
