Does anyone know if they are high or what? I’ve not kept across the actual marks enough to know.

MonkeyTennis34 · 22/08/2024 08:11

Taking DD to school.

Plan is, I will wait in the car whilst she collects results, meets up with friends and puts final touches to her IB choices (she's changed her mind upteen times over the holidays).

She is my third and last child, probably the least academic but I feel strangely calm and philosophical.

In the spirit of the message upthread re the girl who passed 3 GCSEs and is now off to Uni, regardless of the results today, they will all find their place in the world.

Good luck everyone!

ResultsHere · 22/08/2024 08:12

I’ve just compared last years for ds subjects and they all look higher for the 9s this year

I think Keir Starmer didn’t get great GCSEs if I remember correctly. Also not top A levels. It was Uni where he flourished.

BlackBean2023 · 22/08/2024 08:18

She's into sixth form! I'm still not allowed to leave the car so no news on actual grades yet Grin

FerminRomeroDeTorres · 22/08/2024 08:18

Just checked the CCEA grade boundaries and they’ve only put up a small number of subjects - none of which DD has taken. Grrrr. Really wanted to see one subject in particular before we collect results as it would give some indication of whether she’s still on target for her Astar or not. (She did one unit last year and then coursework through the year so we have 75% of her marks already)

Midnightstar76 · 22/08/2024 08:21

Morning, good luck to all the kids collecting results. DD is up and ready I think she has forgot we can’t go until 10.00 as we can’t collect until then. I am remaining in the background there if she needs me as DH just said we can’t even breathe around her today. Really hoping she gets a 4 in her English.

Just dropped DD off. Everyone else seems to be going in with their parents but DD has told me she doesn't want me to come in and I'm to stay in the car. Sad

Feel sick. I've asked her to text me a smiley face if she's got into the sixth form - grades are secondary...

My DD has said the same. We don't leave until 9am.

I've been up most of the night and feel really sick. It is stupid and I've been here before but it is different with DD.

@wlv12 that is lovely that his history teacher had belief and that he did as well. Have everything crossed for him.

ASongbirdAndAnOldHat · 22/08/2024 08:25

As for going out tonight, apparently it is a night for friends not parents 😭

Pharos · 22/08/2024 08:27

Happy birthday @JessyCarr!
Good luck all, ds v happy. Comfortably into sixth form and results better then he expected. He's most happy about the subjects where he got higher than his 3 other siblings 🙄😁 Only a couple of marks off a higher grade in three subjects but he doesn't want them reviewed.
Now to get him to Reading where some of the girls in the group have saved him a space.

TinfoilTangerine · 22/08/2024 08:29

That's great news Pharos. Well done to your DS

BlackBean2023 · 22/08/2024 08:43

Mixed bag of grades here 98877764444
4's in all three sciences and MFL. 6 in maths (she got a 3 in her mock so we're happy with that!)

She's carrying on with 4 subjects she got 9877 in so she's not fussed Grin

I might go back to bed!

Midnightstar76 · 22/08/2024 08:45

@Pharos well done to your son x

DramaLlamaBangBang · 22/08/2024 08:46

DS did worse than expected. He's devastated and is saying all his friends have done well and are going to sixth form apart from him. He's saying things like ' I'm so dumb I must have half a brain'. He was expecting 5's and 6's but has dropped all subjects from his mock results and has got 4's and 5's, even in subjects like English and history where he thought he did really well in the paper he's got 5's where his mocks were borderline 7. and has to resit maths. Im so upset for him as he worked so hard. He has the grades to get into college to either do A Levels or a vocational course but is upset at the moment.

ChishiyaBat · 22/08/2024 08:53

We are just about to leave for school, i've had a crap nights sleep, but i'm optimistic my son will get the grades he needs for his college course.

Jellybeanz456 · 22/08/2024 08:53

Sat here waiting for my ds to wake up an get sorted to go collect his results. None off us have given them a second thought since gcse finished, then I woke at half 4 this morning and can't stop thinking about them. My guess is it will be atleast lunch time before he goes so I will keep myself busy scrolling on here.

Tiredalwaystired · 22/08/2024 08:54

FUCK ME!!! STRAIGHT NINES HERE!!!!

Had to post here as I’m banned from sharing anywhere else until she’s told all the people she needs to tell

I can’t believe it. I knew she would do well but never this week.

just had a moment with a photo of my Deceased mum and grandma and sobbing like a baby alone in the house as DH is in the office today.

Oh I'm sorry, it's hard when they think that something is the end of the world. I hope he perks back up again soon.

My DD isn't sharing her grades with friends because comparison is the thief of joy!

gingercat02 · 22/08/2024 08:55

He's home, and grades are disappointing, worse than mocks in pretty much everything except blooming Spanish.
School are asking for Maths and English Lit remark.
Good enough for 6th form, so OK, he is fine. I'm a bit sad

BeaLola · 22/08/2024 08:56

Waiting for DS to get ready ... fortunate in that he has been accepted at his first choice college regardless of results and they offer English and maths resits so that's one less thing for me to keep thinking about

WOW - what an achievement! Well done to your DD!

CautiousLurker · 22/08/2024 08:59

Results out for my DS but the little bugger won’t get up to access them. Totally understand the desire to avoid looking in case they are disappointing, but my BP is rising by the second!!
