Has anyone heard from Emanuel yet? Is all of South London waiting? I can't even remember how many spots there were 30/30 g/b?

ALongProcess · 12/01/2024 12:40

Yes - just think about the total combined lack of productivity at work this week generated by the Emanuel wait distraction across the entirety of S London...!

Emanuel usually has some 100 places - they normally do around 150 per year but have some coming from their y6

travelturtle · 12/01/2024 12:44

@SLM7 It’s 96 external places who join the 48 they already have who joined in Y6. More or less split boy/girl. They will interview a lot more than that though.

I really liked the headmaster at Hampton - it wasn't initially a top choice for me but my feelings have warmed up considerably through the process. DS doesn't feel the same though and it's still his last choice but I think he'd be happy there (if they let him in! Blush)

I love Hampton and the head T and the boys. I’m so keen for it but potentially unlikely now as we didn’t get called for an extra academic nor maths interview.

SLM7 · 12/01/2024 12:54

suppose some of the 96 are also siblings maybe its a high sibling year and thats why someone said about 60 spots?? Fingers crossed the email (either way is sent soon). I'm not getting any work done waiting

Flimpychunk · 12/01/2024 12:56

DS wasn’t called for either of those things either @lolo99 !

Are there other schools that seem likely for your DS to be accepted into? I think it was the Hampton headmaster who said it was like musical chairs - when the music stops, everyone will get a seat as there is lots of overlap with how many schools people apply for versus the one they end up going to. Although thinking about it, not everyone does get a seat in musical chairs Confused

There are some deferred 11+ spots as well that they gave out as a result of having too many 10+ acceptances last year? Maybe that is why the numbers are down from 96 to 60.

Not sure how it can be ascertained that it is a high sibling year or, for the matter, the pass rate of those siblings. Last year somebody asked and the school made clear that even they could not predict. Also worth noting, from personal knowledge, that quite a few siblings already go into year 6.

itsanewera · 12/01/2024 13:26

Agree- most siblings we know went in y6. Also know lots of siblings who didn't get in but got into other schools which is a bit odd..

Wondermumof4 · 12/01/2024 13:54

Annawintourssteak · 12/01/2024 13:55

Us too!

CocoC · 12/01/2024 13:55

Has anyone received a 'no' from Emmanuel? I don't seem to have an email at all, so wondering if they are sending out all the 'yes' ones first?

Wondermumof4 · 12/01/2024 14:00

Well done to all who got it as well !

We've not heard which I'm assuming means it is a no, as with other schools we seemed to get rejection emails slightly later than positive news.

Wondermumof4 · 12/01/2024 14:09

@Brugmansia stay positive does not mean its a no i cross my finger🤞🏻

Balhamdad11 · 12/01/2024 14:13

We also got positive news on Emanuel interview! Congrats to all others that did too, and sorry to any that didn't progress. We didn't get an interview last year when trying for 10+ so know how that feels. It's all a bit of a lottery.

ALongProcess · 12/01/2024 14:15

Yes for us too! 😀

ItsMeHi48 · 12/01/2024 15:59

You’ll hear either way @Lukrecia2023 (this is for 11+) but no news received here as yet from Emanuel - which could be an indicator of bad news I guess, but the waiting is torture! Just want to know either way!

Brugmansia · 12/01/2024 16:06

We've still not heard either.

QuiteAJourney · 12/01/2024 16:21

From last year, emails arrived in stages and there was no pattern (we have friends that got a no that got it before us, others that got it after). Worth checking junk folder and if it has gone to your partner / another email.
good luck to those waiting, congrats to those with an interview. To those with a no, please don't lose hope.
