11 plus support thread for exams 2024

Hi all,
Anyone fancy joining me for for an 11 plus support thread for those yr 5s who are probably just starting a bit of prep now ready to sit exams in September 2024?

State grammar is the angle I'm personally coming from but all welcome no matter if you're applying to private selective, state aptitude tests etc.

This will be my 3rd and final time of going through this and I've found support threads here really useful the previous times.

Let’s hope so because this wait is killing me!

So is the consensus that Trafford will
find out 17th?

yoshiblue · 07/10/2024 20:00

@Examstressargh I'm working to that Thurs/Fri for the consortium and Ambrose

Yes I agree just want it bloody over now!

How is everyone doing looking around for their 'plan B' school? We've done 2 schools so far and have another 1, maybe 2 to go. Typically, so far DS and I both really liked one we are out of catchment for, most likely to be given shit catchment school if we don't get the grammar.

We've looked at 2 so far, 1 more this week. Tbh it's looking like our catchment school will be the best of a bad lot, with the grammar only marginally better. I'm dreading the secondary years.

Examstressargh · 08/10/2024 09:44

I’m considering Bridgewater in Worsley, journey will be a nightmare though 😫

Hi, i am new to this and have been sharing your pain with 11+ . We are waiting the results for my DD. Would anybody know when the results are out in Gloucestershire? They only told mid-oct but definitely before 31st. My brain cannot cope with not having a date 🙄🤣and am hoping someone knows from previous years roughly what date these were sent out. Many thanks, and all the best to all of you who are still waiting.

We're Gloucestershire too, it's annoying not having a date isn't it! So nervous for DS, he worked so hard but it all comes down to those few hours. I hope as another poster said it's the beginning of next week, and we can deal with the result whatever it is!

SquashSqueezee · 08/10/2024 13:53

I feel fortunate reading this we have an exact date (and time!) results are going to be sent. My son though the exams went well but this week has back tracked slightly, I’m guessing it’s just normal pre results nerves.

We've got a few school around us which all much of a muchness so if don’t get in to grammar will go to the closest one. Hardly any of my son’s friends applied for grammar as it’s a trek to get there in neighbouring county so this would soften the blow if he goes there. We missed the open day as it clashes with one of the 11+ mocks but there’s another one before the application deadline so will likely go to that.

hang in there everyone with the waiting!

Looks like Bham results are being released on The 15th...email sent yesterday.

SquashSqueezee · 11/10/2024 09:50

Today’s the day for us, on email watch. First time going through this and can’t believe how nervous I am!

pocketpairs · 11/10/2024 10:22

It's quite a brutal system with the majority unfortunately not getting a place. Must be hard for the children that have been through years of tuition. Rightly or wrongly, we'll tell DC that they missed by a point if they don't get priority score.

@SquashSqueezee good luck!!!

ElvenDreamer · 11/10/2024 12:10

Fingers crossed for you and your DC @SquashSqueezee , the wait is awful isn't it.

I think Bexley results are today too…

SquashSqueezee · 11/10/2024 13:04

Results are in and he’s passed with a high score so feeling confident he will get a place. The relief is immense and I cannot wait to tell him after school! Such an emotional rollercoaster and thinking of everyone still waiting for results

yoshiblue · 11/10/2024 13:10

I am so scared! My son has a banding test tomorrow so if he's doesn't pass, I'm not sure I want to tell him in case it upsets him!

Congrats, amazing news. Still waiting here, we've been told the results should be out Monday, so one more weekend to wait!
