Morning! Good luck and hoping everyone gets the grades they need for their next steps, and if not can find a way forward that works for them.

TopReview · 24/08/2023 07:45

Festival and result stress is just too much! Good luck all.

Andontothenextproblem · 24/08/2023 07:45

I was actually very calm until I started reading here, and now feeling huge mum guilt that I’ve been a big naive and not researched enough…

We have only ever considered one option which was for DD to stay at current college for 6th form and I have no idea what grade boundaries m mean

She is VERY bright in the subjects that she enjoys, however the rest I’m not too sure, she was also a last minute crammer.

She is strong in her A level choice subjects but I’m worried about a maths re-sit and how that will affect them.

We definitely haven’t had any wink wink phone calls!

ilovebagpuss · 24/08/2023 07:48

I can't believe there are all these different times and arrangements I just assumed all were released at 9am either paper or email!
Didn't sleep well DD is up and ready just another hour or so to go!
Felt like this day would never come.

Rowgtfc72 · 24/08/2023 07:51

I've just read that Guardian article, and wished I hadn't.
I think this will affect us as we're very borderline 3/4/5 for maths and English.
I'm starting to feel the education system will have screwed her over.

Gliomes · 24/08/2023 07:51

Ugh. DD couldn't get out of work today so her plan is to wait until 5pm and open them with us. But she's only had a couple of hours' sleep.

I really feel for her. She's missing out on going in to get them with her friends too, though in some ways that is a blessing.

Benaberry · 24/08/2023 07:53

Good luck everyone! Not much sleep here either, DS1 was still wandering at 2am, and I finally crashed at about 3… in spite of seeming to shrug off the stress and forget about everything since the exams ended, the nerves had definitely kicked in for him last night. He’s still quiet now though, so I’m leaving him as long as possible: we need to leave about 8.30 as we’re rural as well, so it’s a bit of a hike to school.

Keeping everything firmly crossed that all of our amazing teens get what they need for the next steps…

Aaarghthepancakes · 24/08/2023 07:55

Good luck everyone

In the same situation here and now feel sick BlushSad

HappiDaze · 24/08/2023 07:57

Oh god I predict a stressful morning with DD collecting her results with friends then straight off to Reading

madremia1 · 24/08/2023 07:58

Grade boundaries out online for both GCSE and iGCSEs

madremia1 · 24/08/2023 07:59

I'm glad I looked, will help prepare - looks like they're a mixed bag, same or higher than 2019

bendmeoverbackwards · 24/08/2023 08:00

Not sure if I want to analyse grade boundaries yet. Had a quick look at AQA, they seem quite low? Can’t even remember which boards dd does.

BobBobBobbing · 24/08/2023 08:01

Sat outside school waiting to be texted by ds. He's totally chilled, I'm shaking with nerves!

reallyunderstandsometimes · 24/08/2023 08:05

My DS has been an absolute brat for the last few days from nerves so I can't wait to be done getting the grades. He didn't revise as much as he should have, so I suspect that may bite him on the bum.

I just wish they would go back to A,B,C grades.

I'm having to always convert to tell any friends or family and it just seems utterly pointless to have changed them.

Honeylemonandginger · 24/08/2023 08:05

Same here in the car waiting for Dd . Good luck to all.

should have said only looked quickly at Edexcel. Want to be prepared as DD may have to change subjects

aleC4 · 24/08/2023 08:08

Dd is up and making breakfast, I'm glad and surprised that she is able to eat!
I feel slightly less anxious than I did over ds a levels last week but worrying about all the grade boundary nonsense a bit.

Fourcandlesx · 24/08/2023 08:10

I just wanted to join the thread to wish everyone luck and to share a story which I hope will help someone. My son achieved grades 4 and 5 at GCSE and wasn't allowed on to any of the A level courses at his 6th form. He took BTEC and it was the very best decision ever. He achieved 3 top grades, secured a place on a uni course asking for ABB at A level (he would never have got that). He has just graduated with a 2:1! It seems a long way off from GCSEs but it's the right time to do a bit of research on degree entry requirements. Some of the best universities accept BTEC and he received 5 offers when he applied. Good luck today but please be reassured that even students with lower grades can go on to achieve great degrees of that's the path they want to take.

BobBobBobbing · 24/08/2023 08:13

He passed English Language!!! He got a 5!

Moneyordream · 24/08/2023 08:16

Ds has made mistake of looking at the grade boundaries 😭 now having a crisis as doesn't think he going to get the 7 in maths he needs. School not open until 9.30!

Circleoffifths · 24/08/2023 08:18

Am a bit 😣 at the grade boundaries.

AnxiousElephant77 · 24/08/2023 08:19

My dd is in to sixth form, she got what she needed and secured the 5 in Maths, couple of shock grades in there if I'm honest but for her, the goal was sixth form, and she did it Flowers

OvaHere · 24/08/2023 08:19

We set off in an hour. Got to sleep about 2am. DS still seemingly chill. Faffing with his hair. 🙄😂
