These are the voyages of the GCSE Enterprise. To support our DCs, bemoan exam boards and to boldly go through the last fortnight like no one has gone before!

I'm waiting for the posts in 3 week's time where people are either complaining their teen is staying in bed/gaming all day or they are out all the time and they never know what meals to plan for. Grin

I made DD put her summer plans in our shared "DD" calendar just so I have a fighting chance of meal planning. She has a busy summer!

We just have one 6th form day and then a couple of days helping with a music outreach project for a local junior school. And how could I forget the prom!

EverythingHurtsAndImHungry · 16/06/2023 09:19

Ooops, posted too soon!
Good Luck to everyone for today. I'm sure there'll be some celebrations over the weekend for those who are done. For those who have a few more to go ... YOU'VE GOT THIS!!

HippyChickMama · 16/06/2023 09:30

Just physics today and then ds is done! I think he's more pleased than ever that he opted out of further maths now, good luck to all your dc that still have exams to do. He's donating all of his books to school, even the poetry anthology that has scribbled notes in, he thinks he's the half blood prince 😂

Honeylemonandginger · 16/06/2023 09:54

DD has one more exam on Monday -DT but will still be celebrating with everyone this afternoon as she won’t see many of her friends in Monday. She has taken the school textbooks into school today but all other revision guides, files and notes are all over the study that she has taken over for the last few weeks/ months. Hopefully there is going to be a big tidy up next week.
Good luck to everyone and hope you all have a great summer.
Hopefully get to share our highs and ( not too many)lows on results day.🤞

spiderlight · 16/06/2023 10:03

@Rowgtfc72 - your DD might well cross paths with my DS at some point, as that's exactly what he wants to do as well (well, he really wants to be 'discovered' while karting and be given a huge sponsorship to be an F1 driver, but....! 🤔). He has his eye on various motorsport engineering degrees. Next year's plan is A-level physics and a Level 3 diploma in aeronautical engineering. He's another who is absolutely done with his crappy school.

This made me smile. Mine gets a week in goblin mode, and then a list of daily chores, unless she gets a job. McDonald's is recruiting and she's going to stick in an application. Unfortunately retail's out as she has commitments 9-5 on a Saturday.

OvaHere · 16/06/2023 10:14

Last day for us. Really glad to be at the end. DS thinks it's gone past really quickly. I beg to differ!

spiderlight · 16/06/2023 10:19

Mine didn't get out of bed until nearly 2.30 yesterday, and he only emerged then because we had a haircut booked! He's so much happier though.

HappiDaze · 16/06/2023 10:21

I'm so proud of DD for her last ditch attempt at revising the last few months and I hope she gets the grades she needs so she can take her A Levels.

I'm optimistic but you never know with all the weird out there questions in some of the exams.

BonjourCrisette · 16/06/2023 10:29

Very best of luck to everyone and quite honestly congratulations on just making it to the end of the marathon! DD has Physics today and then just two more next week but it really does feel manageable now.

roadsidetree · 16/06/2023 10:35

Good luck to all DC on their last day of exams. And well done to the parents for putting up with the GCSE stress.

DS complained he didn't sleep well due to the heat and got off bed around 9 AM and revising now. Hope he finishes the final exam on a high note.

Fifiellz · 16/06/2023 10:42

DD said AQA Foundation Physics was great and went well. Just Geography now this afternoon which apparently they can't revise for.

She was quite upset this morning that it was the last time she would wear her uniform and possibly the last time she would enter the school.

Bought it home to her that she does want to stay for 6th form after all the deliberating but they are so super selective so it all depends on the grades!

CallmeIT · 16/06/2023 10:43

AQA combined higher physics was “annoying” but not awful apparently. Sums up her entire school career…

and that’s a wrap. No more school for DD.

Best of luck to those still plodding on.

Thanks for the threads. They’ve been a great support, and helped me retain some perspective given some of the difficulties some DC have had to overcome to even sit exams. Hoping everyone gets the results they need / want / deserve x

jamimmi · 16/06/2023 10:45

Nearly there only FM next week. Hugs to all like us who aren't quite finished yet. And well done to all getting through this. DD planning massive sleep tomorrow, and revision Sunday/ Monday but not all day. 4 hour session in school Tuesday with her maths teacher! She has no plans for summer and wants to settle at 6th form before getting a job. I'm not pushing it as she's not good with change and it's going to be huge. She's only ever walked to school and whichever 6th form she goes to its a bus and a big town.

Clymene · 16/06/2023 10:46

AQA higher combined apparently contained a lot of questions which were just using the equations on the sheet they were given. DS is convinced he did a lot better than he did in the mocks (I hope so as he did zero revision for those!).

Just geography to go now. Roll on 2.45!

My Ds is home from same exam . He was bored apparently . I think he has run out of steam he looks tired .

ImitationOfLife · 16/06/2023 11:05

AQA combined higher physics - ‘just ok, I’m trying to be optimistic!’ Lots of use of equations, quite mathsy. All done now - off to see Harry Styles tonight to celebrate!

jamimmi · 16/06/2023 11:12

@ImitationOfLife that actually sounds quite positive for mine. She is maths oriented. Won't here till later as it geography paper 3 this pm. They deserve the concert great way to celebrate!

jamimmi · 16/06/2023 11:12
  • hear!
minisnowballs · 16/06/2023 11:14

Text from DD saying edexcel Physics (triple) was "actually OK' - she hates physics so that is high praise indeed. Friend who was doing combined and finished earlier has already turned up here - she said it was OK but not as good as she'd hoped.

Big congrats to all who are now done! What an achievement to get through all of this

lemonyellows · 16/06/2023 11:23

Combined physics here. DS said it was the easiest paper of the lot. Let's hope so lol

All done. He's off to play football demob happy

HippyChickMama · 16/06/2023 11:26

Ds is home, his school have kept them in 8:30-4 throughout so he's on a high, practically bouncing off the walls. Leaver's assembly on Monday and prom on Wednesday but no more revision! I don't think he'll have any luck finding a summer job as he's not 16 until mid August so here's to a long summer of household chores 🥂

CalmConfident · 16/06/2023 11:34

Ed excel higher physics here done - very good apparently 👍 Just FMaths on Weds left.

I am now being sad as DS does not seem to have invited to any celebrations, I think a change of 6th form will be good.

Bakeoffcanbuggeroff · 16/06/2023 12:12

AQA Higher Physics was “ok” apparently. AQA are awarding everyone the nine marker as the circuits were not included on the list of subjects to be assessed:

Is that update from 2022?
