These are the voyages of the GCSE Enterprise. To support our DCs, bemoan exam boards and to boldly go through the last fortnight like no one has gone before!

In my ds art exam, a year 8 set off the fire alarms and they all had to go outside. Not ideal!

PicnicBunny · 13/06/2023 14:58

@Letskeepgoing !!! That would put me off

Hersetta427 · 13/06/2023 15:03

DD back from Spanish AQA higher - she said it was surprisingly good. Think thats as much as I could have hoped for given she did bugger all revision for it.

OCR Triple chemistry has been upgraded to alright (she was being dramatic in front of her freinds earlier when she said it was really bad). So fingers crossed for low grade boundries !

PicnicBunny · 13/06/2023 15:07

Non stop revision paid off for DS. Chemistry was great. He thinks he got a 9. Seems he’s stepped up his game on his own since he chose it as an A-Level choice last week randomly. I’ve said to plan for worst, take off a few marks that he might have overlooked. So a definite 8? He said yes. 8, but probably 9. He thinks he got no answers wrong. Wow that’s confidence. Fingers crossed it’s not misplaced confidence. But he sees the power of revising like a pro now so has been sat doing maths tests since he came back.

Which exam board?

The main event in chemistry today was that someone's phone went off.

This was in the extra time triple science have. My daughter is combined so want in room but said everyone was lined up and not allowed to leave until they were scanned.

Apparently AQA reserve the right to disqualify you from all exams.

I take DS phone off him every morning he has an exam after an incident during a mock - where they had phones at back of room and his went off in his bag not like exams where they are outside room.

He just forgot - so we avoid the issue as it's just one exam board here so he'd be screwed.

scaredysquiggle · 13/06/2023 15:36

DC reports AQA higher Chemistry was so much better then the first paper and "really good". AQA Spanish was much easier then she thought and is really happy.

2 to go!

Which exam board?

AQA

PicnicBunny · 13/06/2023 15:59

Tomorrow Maths. He wants 80/80. Aghhh here we go again!

BaconAndAvocado · 13/06/2023 16:30

Any feedback from Triple Chemistry AQA?

fuckmyuteruslining · 13/06/2023 16:34

Dd is doing triple sciences and said Chem today was good, she came out smiling. Unlike the first paper. !

PennywisePoundFoolish · 13/06/2023 16:34

DS2 AQA triple said he thinks Chemistry went well*

  • his only responses are Thinks it went well *No idea what they wanted

Exception being Apart the first physics exam where he said you wouldn't have needed to have studied physics at all. Though said he will expect the score grade boundary to be high.

Hmmph · 13/06/2023 16:39

There was a post by a Mum on here a few years back whose child had accidentally taken their phone in with them. They were apparently a model student who had never been in trouble. It has haunted me ever since...

PennywisePoundFoolish · 13/06/2023 16:40

Argh messed my post up as younger DC bickering.

Maths tomorrow it's his best subject but his expectations are high with it. Not that he'd admit it but I just know!

Leavers exam after which he's not attending

Geography tuition tonight (online provided by the school). Counselling Thursday which he hates, then Geography and Physics Friday. I'm counting no chickens but I'm amazed how well he's coped so far.

I cannot get any ideas what he would like for his birthday which is end of the month. I wish he had some interests ad I think it would really help his mental health to have a hobby.

PhotoDad · 13/06/2023 16:42

DS was straight out of chemistry and off to do his sport... music lesson and choir tomorrow, but we might also see a little physics revision for Friday?

PicnicBunny · 13/06/2023 17:10

Anyone got Edexcel History on Weimar Republic on Thursday?

GivingItAWhirl · 13/06/2023 17:11

My DD has @PicnicBunny she says it’s a short paper?

Good luck 🤞 I know these kids have high goals for themselves and sometimes we just have to hold our breath and wait till after exam. Maths is one of those that feels like … just don’t know until it’s over and even then…! Might have to wait till results day because unless he’s happy with maths it’s all a disaster

GivingItAWhirl · 13/06/2023 17:14

AQA Chemistry paper here was deemed “pretty ok really” DD had a headache yesterday due to the heat and came home from English Lang and just hid in her room all night. Don’t think she did any last minute revision at all, just a shower and lots of cold drinks and paracetamol. This weather is pretty harsh right now, but I think the sports hall is quite cool in the mornings when most of her exams are……unlike big brother sitting A levels in the same place in the afternoon!

PicnicBunny · 13/06/2023 17:16

GivingItAWhirl · 13/06/2023 17:11

My DD has @PicnicBunny she says it’s a short paper?

Seems like ages ago DS revised for it, and it was good back then… but it will be a massive revisit of the whole topic. Hopefully Maths goes okay so he’s not all over the place tomorrow and can get his head into it.

Yes my son has!

No maths revision?

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 13/06/2023 17:18

Edexcel Chemistry triple award for DS. He was pleased to finish with enough time to go through it in its entirety. 6 mark question on fermentation and fractional distillation that I had tested him about on Sunday - that was lucky!

PhotoDad · 13/06/2023 17:22

PicnicBunny · 13/06/2023 17:17

No maths revision?

Edexcel IGCSE maths so "normal" maths is done, but AQA Further Maths still in progress (paper 2 next Wednesday)!

GivingItAWhirl · 13/06/2023 17:24

Maths tomorrow, history Thursday and finishing with physics on Friday!
