@BobBobBobbing lol no, I was at quite a bog standard comp in West London back in the dark ages, last year of O'levels.

DarkChocHolic · 19/05/2023 16:32

I didn't get much out of DD except it was all right...
She isn't crying so I am hoping that's a good sign..
She sat edexcel higher maths and aqa computer science...
Glad week 1 is done..

CornishCoast · 19/05/2023 16:41

Oh dear, apparently computer science went badly, DD got a 9 in mocks. No idea what to think, she does tend to think she has failed everything but never has. Perhaps this time it really has gone badly? Time will tell. Her brother was the opposite, always pleased and optimistic, often for no good reason!

Beccaboo822 · 19/05/2023 17:00

There needs to be an intermediate Maths paper I think. Did there use to be? Pretty sure there was. Did it go to a grade B?

BobBobBobbing · 19/05/2023 17:04

Maths was "yuk", but he's fairly laid back as it was only the first paper and he thinks he can pull things back.

Computing (his favourite) went well.

First week down. Next week is full on, but we'll start worrying about that tomorrow. This evening is time to chill.

Bubblepanda · 19/05/2023 17:05

Nervous as DD finished the Comp Sci paper with plenty of time left and found it pretty straight forward. From experience that often means she has missed something

CornishCoast · 19/05/2023 17:09

Is everyone (those who found it easy) talking about Edexcel computer science?

Bubblepanda · 19/05/2023 17:21

DD sat the OCR paper

minisnowballs · 19/05/2023 17:24

Dd says maths (higher edexcel) was 'fine'. She usually gets a six on the non calc paper and thinks that is what she's got this time. She would be fine with that - not thinking of taking maths any further. Did attempt all questions.

Jo14357 · 19/05/2023 17:35

DD sat OCR. Usually 8/9 student but found it really hard.

ourflagmeansdeath · 19/05/2023 17:36

DD actually found higher Edexcel Maths okay which we're really surprised about because so many of her friends found it difficult and they're a lot better at Math so hopefully she was just lucky and didn't actually miss anything out!!

She found AQA Computer Science quite bad though, not the worst but it definitely could have been better.

She's lying in on Saturday after a long week of revision and then revising for the rest of that day and Sunday for her Chemistry on Monday! 😫

Menopausecrazy · 19/05/2023 17:37

Anyone else do Psychology? Ds said it was really hard and nothing came up he had revised😔

Ds did. His comments on the exams today was "<long pause> okay". Whereas all the others were "good" so I think he found them hard.

christmastreefarm · 19/05/2023 17:42

Tears over maths - she said it wasn't hard she just made stupid mistakes.

I'm glad it's Friday as she had a good run until now and this has hit her hard.

She can veg tonight and hopefully start revision tomorrow with a fresh mind. No more maths until after half term which gives her a while to revise.

BaconAndAvocado · 19/05/2023 17:50

DS2 seems happy with the Maths paper but said the Computer Science was tricky.....”And I’m don’t care about that exam anyway”.......or words to that effect 🤣

He needs 7s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics so consequently can’t see any point in worrying about the other subjects! Really hope he gets 5 or above in English. Just had an email to say his school is putting on an English Language revision morning during half term. I won’t bring it up yet......

DD sat OCR. Usually 8/9 student but found it really hard.

DS did OCR too and said the same- he's usually 8/9 too. Did answer everything but thought it was hard.

Neversaygoodbye · 19/05/2023 15:35

We've had a thumbs up for computer science, DS said he finished with loads of time to spare....not sure if this is good or worrying?!

DD said she finished in 30 mins…wondering what she left out!!

BobBobBobbing · 19/05/2023 17:58

Ds1 is AQA computing and said it was good, but it was his favourite part of his favourite subject.

General feedback from his peer group so far is AQA papers have been fine Edexcel have been trickier.

bendmeoverbackwards · 19/05/2023 18:01

Apparently the Edexcel carrots and tomatoes question is all over SM!

Beccaboo822 · 19/05/2023 18:14

Yes and the 1st question, dividing decimals.

jamimmi · 19/05/2023 18:15

Dd back having survived her dizzy migraine today. AQA higher maths was fine she said. Last 3 questions hard as always but she feels.she picked up a.few marks. She's went for a nap 3 hours ago , I'm not waking her up!

SilverGlitterBaubles · 19/05/2023 18:17

DD found Edexel higher Maths very hard today, not helped by the fact she has a cold, spent the entire exam coughing and is now in bed with a temperature. I am concerned that it might be Covid but if I test and it's positive she will probably freak out. Not sure what to do other than hope it passes over the weekend 🙈

bendmeoverbackwards · 19/05/2023 18:18

Worrying about Chemistry on Monday. Just tried to help dd with a paper and there’s a lot she doesn’t know. Hope she can cram a lot in this weekend.

bellinisurge · 19/05/2023 18:22

Checking in. Edexel maths today went ok, apparently, but Maths is generally DD's strongest subject. Rest and down time tonight

Spring45Mermaid · 19/05/2023 18:22

Yes chemistry worried here too as they only finished the content a couple of weeks ago but she needs minG6 for college. Hoping to revise Sunday ready for Monday. At sports training tonight and Saturday to destress..
