Art sounds horrific- everyone says it is so much work and so much pressure to get the portfolio done.

the only marks we have are for DD’s practical PE assessment marks plus her single sport court work and training plan. She got a total of 85/100 overall which is a 9. Just have to maintain that with the written exams as it’s one of her A level choices. Anyone else with DC doing PE?

Yes my one is!!! She got 90 in the coursework which is good but we're a little scared for the written exams, she found the 1st one slightly trickier than she'd have liked.

Agree with everyone Art sounds terrible. I think it's more widely known now that Art is not easy at all and takes up way too much time. My eldest took it and it took up more of his time than the rest of his subjects combined.

SheilaFentiman · 27/05/2023 16:20

DS1 did Art, he wanted to switch to history but ended up glad he had done art (and it was good to have one out of the way)

we will need a new thread soon!

mrsnjw · 27/05/2023 17:23

They were discussing the computer paper on twitter. Apparently a lot thought it was the a level paper.

Son has had all yesterday and today off doing zero revision. Do I just let him get on with it as he had found his rhythm recently or should I push him to get back in it?

I've said take a break until Tuesday here. He's only got 3 exams before next Friday and Geography and. Biology on Friday are the only content heavy ones.

SheilaFentiman · 27/05/2023 17:39

I’m going to push tomorrow, at least to make a plan. I think 2 days off when he’s not been able to have a break day for 2 weeks is ok. Yesterday he slept until lunchtime then played basketball!

Hersetta427 · 27/05/2023 18:36

DS is taking the weekend off and starting again on Monday. She spent the day cleaning her bedroom yesterday (shock horror) and did a 3 hr training session, took her on a primark trip today and tomorrow she is working at the u19 all star game for her main sport (she has a official qualification) and then back to it as she has 7 exams the week after half term.

something to look forward to though, I booked to take her to see her grandparents in Spain when exams are all done.

tourdefrance · 27/05/2023 18:42

Maybe just gently enquire if he’s planning on restarting Sunday or Monday? Two days off or even 3 is fine. It’s a marathon.

thespy · 27/05/2023 19:00

DD has had two days off - will get her going again tomorrow. Promised a little shopping trip in the middle to help keep her motivated!!

TeenDivided · 27/05/2023 19:03

DD (18 just doing maths) had Friday off (though did have therapy which is exhausting). I said she could have today off but she suggested doing some algebra, so who was I to complain? Smile We'll do a bit more algebra tomorrow, Monday off to visit family then attempt past papers across the rest of the break.

NCTDN · 27/05/2023 19:38

We've told ds to have the weekend off. Otherwise he'll never make it to the end without crumbling.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 28/05/2023 11:51

DD1's not working every day. She's tired and needs to recharge. She's having the whole BH weekend off, including tomorrow, and won't be working on Thursday or Saturday either. I think it's a reasonable balance.

HappiDaze · 28/05/2023 13:42

DD hasn't revised the last couple of days. She's just burnt out and seeing friends.

HappiDaze · 28/05/2023 13:50

We'll need a new thread soon called something like

GCSE support cont... after half term. The final leg.

Or something slightly more exciting but easy to find

HappiDaze · 28/05/2023 13:52

@overthehillswegoo

We're ready for a new thread as we're coming up to 1000 which means we definitely need one

HappiDaze · 28/05/2023 13:54

Ahh thanks @TripleDaisySummer

megletthesecond · 30/05/2023 10:14

DS has gone in for half term revision this week. He's resigned to it as he knows he doesn't revise at home.

ThatshallotBaby · 09/06/2023 20:24

Anybody else had biology today? After a very stressful morning ds reported it was ‘ok’. I will
be so so glad when next week is over. I know it’s helpful they have time to revise, but it is prolonging the agony. Anytime he does ANYTHING other than revise I get all fidgety Grin

tourdefrance · 09/06/2023 21:19

There's a new thread @ThatshallotBaby . Link is a few posts above.

ThatshallotBaby · 09/06/2023 21:25

@tourdefrance
Thank you so much, very kind. Will head over!
