AQA foundation physics here. DD laughing as apparently two questions had equations you were meant to guess at or some such but DD realised these were included in the actual booklet. 2 easy marks according to them

That's her done until June. HOY put foot down and said all year 11 unless they have an exam tomorrow are off. No crams or anything, a message to go enjoy the sunshine for the long weekend before some revision in the rest of the week off.

I love the letters idea, I may have to pinch that for DD as it will be nice when they're older.

Purrfecto · 25/05/2023 11:36

AQA physics higher was easy apparently. She said the equation sheet was very helpful.

Honeylemonandginger · 25/05/2023 11:38

Just spoke to DD and she said the Physics ( AQA higher) went well she thinks. It’s the paper 2 in all her science subjects she knows she has to work on.
Hopefully she gets to do a few nice things away from revision during half term.
Not even half way through exams yet- already seem liked ages.😰

mumonthehill · 25/05/2023 11:54

WJEC higher really good Ds says.

HappiDaze · 25/05/2023 11:59

So DD says she could answer most of it even a 6 marker (triple physics Edexcel) but probably couldn't answer around 10 questions.

They asked a question on Newtons 2nd law not the obvious 3rd law.

kennythekangaroo · 25/05/2023 12:01

I didn't manage to get back on the thread yesterday, but thank you for your kind words.
I had to pick DD up from school- she went in okay, but started crying when she got there. It took them 40 minutes to get her calm enough to sit the literature exam yesterday, they gave her the option not to do it, but she wanted to have a go. She only managed the Inspector calls question, didn't do Christmas carol and the poetry was about fathers so she didn't even look at it at that.

School have written a long explanation to the examining board about what went on yesterday morning, so hopefully they will take things into consideration.so hopefully she will be able to manage some of the questions. I think we both written physics off.
I brought her home with me, she had a long nap in the afternoon, and I haven't even pushed physics revision. She went in this morning, prepared to do it, they've already allocated her a room to herself and a member of staff that she is comfortable with, which is helpful so hopefully she will be able to manage some of the questions. I think we've both written physics off.

No more exams until after half term now, hopefully she can get some revision done next week and go back in a bit more confidently.
School run a surfing club which she loves going to and they have suggested that she does that tonight so she had some to look forward to today. She won't get home till about 8 o'clock though, so I'll see how it all went then.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 25/05/2023 12:03

DD said that Physics (AQA) went better than expected. But her expectations were rock bottom so who knows?

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 25/05/2023 12:05

Kenny so sorry about your DH. Exams are stressful enough without added trauma. Glad the school are helping.

spiderlight · 25/05/2023 12:07

My heart goes out to you and your brave, brave DD, @kennythekangaroo - I hope she has fun surfing and it takes her mind off things for a little while.

Hersetta427 · 25/05/2023 12:14

DD said OCR Gateway triple paper was good.

Who said tik tok is bad - she watched a couple of tutor videos this morning whilst getting ready and one really helped with an experiment question as the question was what they could have done better and tik tok had given her the answer. SHe is pretty pleased with how it went - same cannot be said for some of her friends though who seemed to do no revision for Physics at all.

Hersetta427 · 25/05/2023 12:17

Off now for half term. GOing out with her friends for a picnic at lunchtime and then having a couple of days off this weekend and will get back to it on Monday.

HippyChickMama · 25/05/2023 12:22

Ds had AQA physics today, he's doing higher but combined rather than triple. He said it was hard but doable but he enjoys physics anyway. Just WJEC film studies left to do tomorrow and then half term! Although, his school are keeping them until 4pm tomorrow for revision sessions, they've not said yet whether they'll continue being in school full time after half term or not

HappiDaze · 25/05/2023 12:23

@kennythekangaroo poor sweet child what an emotional ordeal for you both

Clymene · 25/05/2023 12:30

What a brave girl you have there @kennythekangaroo. I'm so sorry for your dreadful loss.

naughty40me · 25/05/2023 12:53

@kennythekangaroo

So sorry for your loss.

You are coping brilliantly and your DD is just so brave.

Thinking of you both

CornishCoast · 25/05/2023 13:03

DD said triple science, physics Edexcel was fine. It’s her favourite science. Computer science at 2 pm.

@kennythekangaroo so sorry for your loss and I hope your DD enjoys her surfing this evening.

Purrfecto · 25/05/2023 13:32

@kennythekangaroo so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you and your family.

julesover40 · 25/05/2023 13:49

@kennythekangaroo so sorry, how awful for you and what a brave girl you have to even attempt sitting her exam xx
Dd went in fairly confident to AQA Physics, but I got a text saying it went badly. No more now till after half term.
Leavers assembly/ shirt signing etc tomorrow then a well earned week off. Good luck to all this afternoon and tomorrow x

thespy · 25/05/2023 13:59

HappiDaze · 25/05/2023 11:59

They asked a question on Newtons 2nd law not the obvious 3rd law.

DD did this paper and said the same, and didn't understand a couple of the low mark questions. Answered all of them anyway just in case she could pick up a spare mark, probably gone the least well so far. Her least favourite subject so probably to be expected.

Has now retired to bed for the rest of the day & sports day tomorrow so a day off from revision. Quite glad she's doing that as can she can hang out with friends without revision guilt.

BaconAndAvocado · 25/05/2023 14:50

Anyone got any info on the Physics AQA paper?
DS2 doing 3 separate Sciences.

DontForgetToBreathe · 25/05/2023 15:02

DS said it was okay, AQA Combined, hardest paper he’s done yet. I gave him the biggest hug like he’s been so shaken. He is asleep
now. Wow, now for the paper 2s after the holiday. I have nothing planned for this holiday except to let him revise.

HairyMaclary · 25/05/2023 15:04

Anyone heard anything about comp sci? I’ve had a message from DS2 ‘it was wank, sir taught us nothing’. That’s unlike him, he was expecting an 8? I can’t talk to him until 4.30 either!

my DD (who went in very unsure) said it was a good/fair paper and seemed very pleased with it

BaconAndAvocado · 25/05/2023 15:08

Thanks.
DS2 wants to study Physics A level and needs a 7....
I get so little exam feedback from him, other than “it was ok”...which is what he’s said for every single one so far 🤣

Madcats · 25/05/2023 15:22

It might be a different board, but DD's is scheduled for 90 mins, finishing in about 10 minutes.
