My daughter did AQA English, it's by far her strongest subject but she found the unseen poetry quite tough - she thinks she dropped quite a few marks.

She has been on a call to her friend for at least 2.5 hours (since I got home from work) revising sociology and physics. She seems to know a fair bit - definitely more so for sociology though.

Hi

Can anyone tell me why its a problem to have a calculator in an Eng Lit exam. OK I know its not needed but my son kept it in pencil case. Anyway some of them had to hand them in on the way into exam today and when he went to collect at the end they had lost it or given it to someone else. He's had that calculator for the last few years and he's use to it. He has physics tomorrow too. I just don't understand why he had to hand it in, can't see how a calculator can help u chat in a english exam

It is a bit annoying to be honest, I understand but they do have to take in anything unnecessary and also sometimes kids can write words on calculators (a bit of a far stretch) I know and I'm guessing they just wanted to be careful. Super annoying they'd lost it though.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 24/05/2023 22:22

my goodness @kennythekangaroo, what a superstar your daughter must be. she's doing so well just to keep on keeping on. Sending love to you both.

Kranken · 24/05/2023 22:47

Physics and Comp Sci tomorrow, and then German writing on Friday; seems like a tough end to the week.

ThatshallotBaby · 24/05/2023 22:57

Oh god I just want tomorrow to be over. Physics and computer science. Everything crossed for this one. Good luck everybody.

SheilaFentiman · 24/05/2023 23:22

Just sent DS1 to bed. He thought computer science was in the morning tomorrow (he doesn’t have physics) so glad I caught him before he set off at 0730!

Ds is Physics and Computing tomorrow as well. Heavy day, like sending him off to war. All the best everyone. Wishing calm vibes.

memenotea · 25/05/2023 06:16

DD just has physics today then that’s it until after half term. DS has got film studies tomorrow so not quite there yet! Roll on Friday.

Neversaygoodbye · 25/05/2023 06:20

Physics & comp science for DS today, not much revision yesterday. Happy to get today over with and a bit of a rest over half term, although DS seems to think he should be having the whole week off.

Daydreamscometrue · 25/05/2023 06:33

Physics for DD today. Good luck to all!

Clymene · 25/05/2023 06:43

Oh crap, so sorry @Letskeepgoing. Fingers crossed he passes

Just physics to go here and then we're done until after half term thank goodness

disappointed101 · 25/05/2023 06:55

Also physics and computer Science today. Ds found English okay yesterday. Found the Jekyll and Hyde went well but found the poetry tricky as always. Well too late now. He was ill on Monday but better by Tuesday thankfully. I hope physics goes well for him as it is his A level choice. Good luck everyone today!

ThatshallotBaby · 25/05/2023 07:03

Here goes!
Best of luck to all of them. Phew for half term, just hope he does some revision!

I thought that was just me, if feels like war doesn’t it? DS has been up since 3am?? Or 4am? I don’t want to ask… I popped my head round at 4.30 and he’s had a shower and all studying and happy. He wants a grade 9 in this and I’m so worried for him. Hope it goes well for him and that he knows what he’s doing.

BobBobBobbing · 25/05/2023 07:28

Another one with physics and computing here. 2 of his best subjects and they are both a-level choices.

Good luck everyone half term is so close now!

Piony · 25/05/2023 07:48

Good luck to them all today. DD seems really laid back about Physics, just scrolling on her phone this morning. I'm taking her out for ice cream after school.

Next task is figuring out how much revision and how much time off to give herself over half term.

Madcats · 25/05/2023 07:51

Physics & computing, today, and then German tomorrow.

Tomorrow is usually an INSET day, so the kids will be rattling round the school.

Dinofantastic · 25/05/2023 07:58

When is the next maths exam? Are there 2 more?

GivingItAWhirl · 25/05/2023 08:02

Three today here for DD - physics, computer science and Classics. She’s to stay in one room all day and not leave unless for the toilet. Thankfully nothing tomorrow, but today is her worst day. If she can get through this she can do anything I reckon!

Jeez. That's tough.

England. Wed 7th & Wed 14 June. Both calculator exams.

Calculator info for Edexcel. Don't know if others are the same.

Neversaygoodbye · 25/05/2023 08:23

DS has physics and comp science - he just left looking like the world was about to end. He seemed relatively upbeat although nervous the first week but this week he seems to have already lost focus and is struggling. He's not yet 16 and I wonder if it's a maturity thing, he just isn't that resilient yet 🤷‍♀️

spiderlight · 25/05/2023 08:24

Good luck to all the physicists. It's DS's best science so he should be OK.
